Chapter 466: Chapter 466: Die?

Maybe… maybe I can’t escape after all…

Maybe… I’m really going to die today.

The coldness of despair wrapped around him like a heavy chain, dragging him deeper and deeper into a black hole he couldn’t climb out of.

Just as then, the crowd parted, and an old woman dressed in elegant clothes walked in. People called her ‘Boss Su’, and the boy realized she was the woman who was giving out free food.

Their eyes locked, and the boy saw a glint in Boss Su’s eyes. It scared him. He thought maybe she was from the organization, too.

His stomach dropped, and for a mont, he wanted to cry.

He was tired. Tired of fighting against fate repeatedly. Tired of escaping. Tired of getting tortured again and again.

‘I should just give up.’ The boy thought.

He couldn’t hold on anymore.

The re thought of going back and getting locked up in the cold room again, getting splashed by cold water every 20 minutes, and getting injected with an unknown liquid that inflicts so much pain on his body that he wanted to die, made him recoil in fear.

Just as he was about to take extre asures, he saw the old woman’s eyes shimring with tears, and she bolted toward him.

Engulfed in a warm embrace, the boy’s heart skipped a beat. After staying in the laboratory for more than 2 years, he had beco sensitive to emotions.

But he couldn’t tell the emotions with which the old woman was hugging him.

“Finally found you.” He heard her whisper.

The exact words that people from the organization used when they found him.

Usually, he should have shuddered hearing those words, but coming out of Boss Su’s mouth, they sounded gentle.

They weren’t laced with malice and viciousness, filled with the promise of future torture.

Su Jiyai, on the other hand, was imrsed in her emotions. The relief…the joy and the excitent made her unable to say any words.

Before she could pull away and get a good look at her brother, she heard a forced, sweet voice,

“Grandma, are you okay? Why are you hugging my son?” It was the person from the organization.

Hearing his fake concerned voice, Su Jiyai felt nauseous.

She could feel her brother’s tiny body trembling against hers, and the fear radiating off him was almost palpable.

His eyes were wide, searching for sothing, anything, to cling to.

The man’s voice—the one pretending to be concerned—sounded fake, sickeningly so.

She didn’t have to look at him to know he was the one responsible for the boy’s pain.

She had seen enough in her ti to recognize the type. The kind who wore a mask of politeness but hid cruelty underneath.

But it was her brother’s reaction that sent a chill through her.

His small body was shaking, his face pale, eyes wild, as if the re sound of the man’s voice had shattered sothing inside him.

“What did you do to him?” Su Jiyai’s voice was cold, dangerous.

She didn’t have to raise it—her gaze alone was enough to freeze anyone in their tracks.

The man, his fake concern still painted on his face, took a step forward.

“I don’t know what you’re talking about,” he said, his voice dripping with feigned confusion.

“I’m just here to take my son ho. He’s been… troubled. Lost his mind during the apocalypse. Poor boy.”

Su Jiyai pulled away from the boy, scooped him in her arms, ignored the man, and asked the boy softly,

“What is your na?”

Her heart was full of distress. He was so light! She felt as if she were holding a paper.

“Huh?” The boy was stunned.

Why did she lift him in her arms? And…why does he suddenly feel so secure…

And if she was from the organization, why was she asking for his na?

What stunned him even more was…the old woman had suddenly transford into a beautiful woman.

She had pale skin, beautiful eyes that were filled with unknown emotions. Even her hair color had turned blue.

She looked so beautiful.

It would have been even more if he hadn’t seen how, the mont she scooped him up, the old woman transford into a completely different person.

Was he hallucinating?

His eyes locked onto those ocean blue eyes, which were waiting for his answer.

But before he could answer, his body trembled from the cold breeze, and he rubbed his hands

Su Jiyai’s eyes darkened, she turned toward one of the dark corners and said softly,

“Mr. Lin, can you bring a jacket?”

There was no response for a whole minute, and the crowd was confused.

“Does Boss Su know the child? Why is she so warm toward him?”

“Yeah. It is very strange.”

Su Jiyai kept her eyes on the boy, feeling a sense of urgency to make him feel safe.

She could see how nervous he was, his small body still shaking in her arms.

It was clear he had been through sothing horrible, sothing that had completely crushed his spirit.

The man who had approached them was still watching them closely, his fake concern still on his face.

Su Jiyai could feel his eyes on her, but she refused to give him any attention.

She didn’t trust him, and by the looks of it, neither did the boy.

The silence stretched on, and just as the atmosphere began to grow uncomfortable, a figure stepped forward from the crowd.

It was Qin Feng.

“Boss Su,” he said, his voice calm, but there was an underlying tension in it. “I was asked to bring you the jacket.”

Su Jiyai didn’t say anything, but she nodded in acknowledgnt.

As she turned to take the jacket from him, she gently placed it around the boy’s shoulders.

He flinched slightly, and Su Jiyai’s heart ached.

At the sa ti, an unknown fire burned in her heart. She swore that whoever hurt her brother, she would take revenge on them and torture them with her own hands.

The warmth of the jacket seed to settle him just a little, but his eyes were still wide with fear, his lips trembling.

Just then, his stomach growled.

Su Jiyai blinked before laughing softly.. She turned toward Qin Feng, who understood her and nodded.

Within the next two minutes, he brought a table and a chair.

One by one, different dishes were placed on the table.

Mapo Tofu, Peking Duck, Char Siu, Chow in, Spring Rolls, Fried Rice, Kung Pao Chicken, Manchurian Chicken, Hakka Noodles, and Scallion Pancakes.

The mont the dishes were laid out on the table, the crowd gasped in shock.

It wasn’t just the variety of food; it was the sheer amount, and the extravagance of it all.

The al before them was worth a staggering 30 billion federal coins. Even the most well-off among them would never have been able to afford such a feast.

So people started murmuring, amazed by Boss Su’s generosity.

“Is she really going to feed that boy all of this?” one person whispered, still trying to process what was happening.

“That’s… that’s enough to feed a family of 10!” another person exclaid.

Others stood still, eyes wide, as they stared at the feast.

A few people, unable to resist the allure of the food, moved closer, trying to snatch a piece from the table.

Their hands reached out, but before they could touch anything, one of Leader Pei’s subordinates stepped forward with a sharp glare. He blocked their path without saying a word.

Then, Qin Feng appeared from the side, his presence commanding and unwavering. With a slight motion of his hand, the crowd backed off.

No one dared to challenge him, especially not with the tension in the air.

Su Jiyai, anwhile, gently sat the boy down and motioned for him to eat. She noticed how his eyes were glued to the food, but he didn’t move.

“Go ahead,” she said softly, her voice full of warmth and reassurance.

The boy’s eyes widened in disbelief, and for a mont, he froze.

He had never seen so much food before, let alone tasted anything this lavish.

His mind was caught between the shock of being given so much and the gnawing hunger in his stomach.

Then, his stomach growled loudly, and the sound broke the silence.

His hands trembled as he reached for the plate of Mapo Tofu, still unsure of what to do.

Su Jiyai smiled gently, picking up a piece of Peking Duck and offering it to him.

“It’s okay,” she said, her voice like a soft promise, “You can eat. You’re safe now.”

At first, the boy hesitated, but the hunger inside him won. He took the food from her hand, lifting it to his mouth.

The mont the food touched his tongue, sothing changed in him.

The heat of the dish, the bold flavors, the perfect balance of spices—it was more than just food; it was comfort.

It was the first ti in so long that he could taste sothing that wasn’t cold or bland.

His eyes filled with tears as the warmth of the food spread through his body, driving away the cold that had taken hold of him for so long.
