Chapter 351: Chapter 351: Su Yun’s Misery Chapter 351: Chapter 351: Su Yun’s Misery Su Yun felt like she was being haunted.
No matter where she went, Pei ng was there.
Every ti she tried to talk to a man, Pei ng would suddenly appear, smiling like an idiot and saying, “Su Yun, let’s go!
Boss Su wants us to do sothing important!” At first, Su Yun tried to play along, pretending not to notice.
She thought Pei ng would eventually get tired and let his guard down.
He didn’t.
As a result, 1 month’s ti was over and she didn’t have enough crystals to pay for the next month’s crystals.
Thank god, that Pei ng had so sha and paid her rent for the next month.
Su Yun switched her tactics again.
She heard that Li Chen, the shy but well-off tenant, loved homade food.
If she could make him feel special, maybe he would take care of her.
She spent the afternoon making soup, using the best ingredients she could afford.
When it was ready, she carefully placed it into a bowl and walked over to Li Chen’s room.
Just as she knocked on the door, Pei ng swooped in from nowhere.
“Wow!
That slls amazing, Su Yun!” he said, snatching the bowl from her hands.
“You made this for ?
You’re too kind!” Before she could stop him, he gulped down half the soup in one go.
Su Yun’s eye twitched.
“That wasn’t for you.” Pei ng blinked.
“Oh?
Then who was it for?” Su Yun clenched her fists.
“Li Chen.” Pei ng’s eyes widened in fake shock.
“Oh no!
This was for Li Chen?
Ah…
too late, I already drank half.
But don’t worry!
I’ll tell him you tried.” He turned and knocked on Li Chen’s door himself.
When Li Chen opened it, Pei ng shoved the half-empty bowl at him.
“Hey, Su Yun made soup for you!
I accidentally drank so, but there’s still a little left!” Li Chen looked between Pei ng and Su Yun, confused and uncomfortable.
“Uh…
thanks?” Su Yun wanted to scream.
Su Yun found another potential target: a middle-aged but wealthy-looking man nad Zhao Ming.
He was a businessman who had co to the base recently, and she heard rumors that he was looking for a woman to “take care of.” One evening, Su Yun managed to get Zhao Ming alone in the gardens.
She put on her softest, sweetest expression and sighed.
“Sotis, I just feel so lost in this world…” she whispered, gazing at him aningfully.
Zhao Ming reached for her hand.
“I understand.
A beautiful woman like you deserves soone to protect her.” Just as their hands were about to touch, a loud, cheerful voice shattered the mood.
“SU YUN!
I’VE BEEN LOOKING EVERYWHERE FOR YOU!” Pei ng appeared out of nowhere.
Su Yun felt her soul leave her body in frustration.
“What do you want, Pei ng?!” she snapped.
“I just wanted to go on a date with you.” Pei ng blinked his eyes innocently.
Su Yun felt that it was necessary to drop Pei ng so that she could find na ew target.
She took a deep breath and forced a gentle smile on her face.
“Pei ng,” she said in the softest, sweetest voice she could manage, “I think… we should break off our engagent.” Pei ng froze.
His cheerful expression vanished in an instant.
The air felt thick with tension.
Su Yun kept her smile, but inside, she was already celebrating.
‘Finally!
Once I get rid of this fool, I can find soone new.
I have a whole month!
That’s plenty of ti!’ But before she could say anything else, Pei ng’s face crumpled.
His lips quivered, and to Su Yun’s absolute horror— Tears started rolling down his cheeks.
“N-No…” Pei ng sniffled.
His voice cracked.
“Su Yun, why?
Did I do sothing wrong?” His shoulders shook.
His eyes turned red.
And then— “WAAAAAHHHH!” Pei ng burst into loud, ugly sobs.
Su Yun’s eye twitched.
‘Why the hell is he crying?!
Is he a child?!
He’s ruining everything!’ A few people turned their heads at the commotion.
Then a few more.
Within monts, a crowd started forming.
“What’s going on?” a man whispered.
“Did Su Yun make Pei ng cry?” another asked.
Su Yun panicked.
She grabbed Pei ng’s arm, trying to pull him away from the people, but he refused to move.
Instead, Pei ng clutched his chest dramatically.
“Everyone!” Pei ng wailed.
“Please… help get justice!” The crowd leaned in.
Su Yun’s stomach dropped.
Pei ng pointed at her with a shaking finger.
“I… I paid her rent for the next month because she couldn’t afford it.
I thought we were in love!
But now—now she suddenly wants to break up with !” The crowd gasped.
Su Yun felt her blood run cold.
“Wait, wait, wait!” She held up her hands.
“It’s not like that!” But it was too late.
The crowd exploded.
“Gold digger!” soone shouted.
“I knew she was only after money!” another said.
“How heartless!
Pei ng paid for her rent, and now she wants to dump him?” “She probably found soone richer.” “Won like her make sick.
Just using n and throwing them away!” “No wonder she was acting all innocent!
It was all fake!” Su Yun’s face burned.
‘These idiots!
They don’t know anything!
I have to stop this!’ She took a deep breath and forced a tearful look on her face.
“Everyone,” she said in a fragile, pitiful voice.
“It’s not what you think!
Pei ng is just misunderstanding !” Pei ng sniffled loudly.
“Then tell , Su Yun… if it’s not what I think, why are you leaving ?” Su Yun froze.
The crowd waited.
She clenched her fists.
This fool!
He was putting her in a trap!
If she said she wanted soone richer, the crowd would turn on her even more.
If she said it was because she never liked him, then— “So you never loved ?” Pei ng suddenly asked, his voice heartbroken.
The crowd gasped again.
Su Yun felt like she was drowning.
She bit her lip and lowered her head.
“…That’s not what I ant.” A woman in the crowd shook her head.
“Poor Pei ng.
He gave everything for this woman, and now look at him.” “Disgusting,” a man muttered.
“I feel bad for whoever she tricks next.” “She should be kicked out of the base!” soone else said.
Su Yun’s heart pounded.
This was getting out of control!
She turned to Pei ng, grabbed his sleeve, and whispered through gritted teeth, “You better stop this right now!” Pei ng sniffled again and rubbed his eyes.
“But Su Yun, I love you!” he cried out loud.
Su Yun’s mind was spinning.
She could feel the weight of the stares from the crowd, their judging eyes burning into her skin.
She knew that no matter what she said, things would only get worse.
Pei ng had already painted her as the villain, and now, she had no choice but to change the script.
Taking a deep, shaky breath, she suddenly clutched her chest like she was about to faint, her expression twisting into one of heartbreak and regret.
Her lips trembled, and she forced her eyes to glisten as she whispered, “Pei ng…
I…
I wasn’t thinking straight.
I didn’t an it.” Pei ng sniffled, his red eyes blinking rapidly.
“You…
You didn’t?
But you said—” “I was just being stupid!” Su Yun suddenly cried, raising her voice just enough for the crowd to hear clearly.
“I was scared!
I was insecure!
I felt like…
like I wasn’t worthy of you!” A collective gasp rippled through the crowd.
Pei ng looked stunned, his mouth opening slightly as if he couldn’t believe what he was hearing.
“What…?” Su Yun lowered her gaze, shaking her head dramatically.
“You’ve been so good to , Pei ng.
You took care of when I had nowhere to go.
You…
you paid my rent when I was struggling!
And what have I done for you in return?
I’ve been nothing but a burden!” She wiped at her eyes, though no real tears fell.
“I was afraid that I was just dragging you down, and…
and I thought you deserved soone better!
Soone who wouldn’t take advantage of your kindness!” Her voice hitched, as if she was barely holding back sobs.
The crowd murmured in surprise and sympathy.
“Oh…
so that’s why…” a woman whispered.
“She wasn’t trying to use him…
she was trying to free him,” another person said, nodding knowingly.
“I knew there had to be another reason!
She’s just insecure!” soone else chid in.
Pei ng’s eyes softened as he stepped closer to Su Yun.
“You really thought that?
You thought I’d ever leave you?
Su Yun, you’re the most important person in my life!” He suddenly grabbed her hands, squeezing them tightly.
“I don’t care about any of that!
I don’t care about money or rent or any of it!
I just want to be with you!”
