Chapter 289: Chapter 289: Scout Chapter 289: Chapter 289: Scout Torak rubbed his chin thoughtfully, his red eyes narrowing as he considered Sarak’s suggestion.

“HQ, huh?

He’s pretty smart… but he’s also scary.

I don’t want him making fun of us like you always do.” Sarak crossed his arms, still struggling to keep his pants up.

“Co on, Torak, we’re not exactly in a position to be picky.

If anyone knows how to handle this scanner thing, it’s HQ.

Plus, I don’t want to get shot at again!” Torak groaned, running a hand through his ragged hair.

“Fine, but if he laughs, I’m blaming you.” Sarak gave a small grin, happy to have convinced Torak.

“We’ll just say we did a ‘trial run’ and need so backup.

Easy.” The two zombie kings carefully crept out of the alley, still glancing around nervously in case anyone was still shooting at them.

The humans had scattered, so the streets were eerily quiet now.

“Let’s find a place to contact HQ,” Torak muttered, pulling his ripped hood back over his head.

They made their way through the empty streets, trying their best to look inconspicuous, even though their clumsy disguises were practically falling off.

After a while, they ducked into an abandoned building that looked like it hadn’t been used in years.

Dust covered everything, and the windows were cracked and grimy.

Sarak fiddled with a small device he had hidden in his ragged clothes, a communication device they used to reach HQ.

“Alright, I’ll call him,” Sarak said, glancing at Torak nervously.

“Just… don’t ntion the pants thing, okay?” Torak smirked.

“No promises.” Sarak rolled his eyes and pressed a few buttons on the device.

After a few seconds, the small screen blinked to life, showing HQ’s cold, emotionless face.

Sarak and Torak stared at the screen, trying to act tough.

They stood up straight, puffing out their chests like they were fearless warriors, even though they had just run away from the scanner like clumsy idiots.

HQ raised an eyebrow, confused by their awkward attempt to look intimidating.

But there was a flicker of amusent in his eyes.

He couldn’t understand their zombie language, but he’d dealt with them enough to know that Sarak and Torak weren’t as scary as they looked.

“Well, what is it this ti?” HQ asked, his voice calm and a little bit smug.

“You two need sothing, don’t you?” Sarak and Torak exchanged glances.

They had to communicate with him sohow, but since HQ didn’t speak zombie, they resorted to using clumsy hand gestures.

Sarak started waving his hands wildly, pointing at the base and making what looked like a “boom” motion with his hands.

Torak, not wanting to be left out, mimicked Sarak, but his movents were less graceful, more like a clumsy dance.

HQ blinked, trying to figure out what in the world they were trying to say.

He tilted his head, and his eyes narrowed in thought.

“Wait… are you telling there’s sothing inside the base?” Sarak and Torak nodded enthusiastically.

Torak pointed at the base again, this ti making a sign that sort of looked like he was holding a baby, though it was hard to tell with his big zombie hands.

Sarak added so growling noises for emphasis.

HQ raised a hand, signaling them to stop for a second.

“Okay, okay, let get this straight,” he said, trying to put the pieces together.

“There’s sothing… growing inside the base?

Like… a zombie?” Sarak nodded so hard his hood almost fell off.

Torak, still trying to act tough, gave a firm, clumsy thumbs-up.

HQ’s face flickered with surprise.

He hadn’t expected this.

A new zombie being born inside the base?

And it must have been powerful if these two had made such a big deal about it.

He leaned in closer to the screen, studying them.

“So, you’re saying a powerful zombie is about to be born inside, behind that big blue wall, right?” Both Sarak and Torak nodded again, their awkward gestures finally making sense to HQ.

He leaned back in his chair, crossing his arms, clearly thinking about what they had just told him.

“I see…” HQ murmured, his tone shifting to sothing more serious.

“And you two want to get inside the base to either stop it or… do sothing with it?” The zombie kings exchanged another glance, nodding hesitantly.

They didn’t really care about stopping it—they just wanted to figure out if this new zombie was sothing they could use.

HQ, catching on quickly, smirked.

“Alright.

I’ll help you out, but it’s not going to be easy.

The base is protected by that blue electric wall, and I can’t just walk in.

But I’ve got a few subordinates inside.

I’ll use them to help you, as long as you can guide them toward what you want.

However, I want to ask what you would do with it?” If the thing they want is truly powerful, he, HQ, too wanted to see if he can profit from it.

Sarak and Torak looked at each other, unsure how to respond.

They weren’t used to having humans do their work for them, but HQ always provided them with human at as a reward, so they didn’t complain much.

Sarak gave another awkward thumbs-up, and Torak scratched his head, trying to think of how to communicate their next steps.

HQ watched them, slightly amused, but also intrigued.

“So… what exactly do you want from inside the base?

The new zombie?

Sothing else?” Torak tried making so vague gestures, pointing at his mouth as if to say, “We want the zombie,” but it ca across more like he was asking for food.

Sarak, growing impatient, stomped his foot and pointed dramatically at the base, growling loudly.

HQ frowned, clearly struggling to understand their weird zombie charades.

“Food?

No… wait… you want the zombie inside, right?

You want to take control of it?” Torak and Sarak paused, and then both nodded awkwardly.

Yes!

That was it.

They wanted to see if the new zombie could be useful to them.

HQ looked surprised but quickly recovered.

“Alright, I get it.

You want the new zombie before anyone else can get to it.

Fine, I’ll have my subordinates inside scout it out for you.”
