“I’ve found a healer—soone who can help you heal your legs.” Yuan Ni turned to his son with a weak smile, the corners of his lips barely lifting.

Even if there was only a slim hope, it was worth it.
He took a deep breath and turned back to his father.
“Father, please… let him try.” Yuan Ni hesitated, his fingers brushing over the cloth covering his legs.
For a mont, he remained still, but seeing the pleading look in his son’s eyes, he relented.
“Very well, if it will ease your heart, I’ll allow it.” With a slow, deliberate movent, Yuan Ni pulled the cloth away from his legs, revealing the shriveled, atrophied limbs.
They were a stark contrast to the rest of his still-healthy upper body, and Yuan Xin’s heart clenched painfully at the sight.
Jake’s eyes narrowed slightly as he took in the sight.
His fingers twitched, but he kept his expression calm.
“Bring a chair,” he said quietly.
Yuan Xin, though anxious, quickly fetched another chair and placed it in front of his father.
Jake sat down in front of Yuan Ni, his face serious, and placed his hands gently on Yuan Ni’s legs.
The room was silent except for the faint hum of the air outside, tension thick in the air.
At first, nothing seed to happen.
Yuan Ni felt no change, and Yuan Xin began to shift uncomfortably, his hope wavering.
