Chapter 234: Chapter 234: Act Chapter 234: Chapter 234: Act Su Yun stood under the thin, rusted shed, sweat trickling down her sunburned skin as she watched the towering blue tallic walls of Boss Su’s base.

They lood in front of her like an impenetrable fortress, glimring ominously under the scorching sun.

The electric hum emanating from the walls reminded her that this place was the ultimate sanctuary—a bastion of safety where zombies were nothing more than a distant threat.

Her parched lips cracked as she longed for the cool interior she had heard so much about.

They said the base used advanced technology to regulate temperature, creating an oasis in the middle of this blistering wasteland.

The heat out here was relentless, even in the shade.

Each wave of scorching air felt like a slap, and her skin bore the marks of a life lived under the harsh sun—burned, raw, and peeling.

She swallowed hard, imagining the variety of food inside.

Everything inside was cheap—almost laughably so—compared to the outside markets where survival ca with a steep price.

She clenched her fists, her mind racing.

If her rental application got approved, everything could change.

But one month’s rent was all she could afford.

After that?

Well, she had a plan.

Su Yun’s eyes scanned the faces around her, already calculating.

She could find a man—soone stable, soone who had a room and a steady supply of rations.

It wouldn’t be hard; she was beautiful, even after all she’d been through.

Divorced or not, she still had her allure, and confidence was her greatest weapon.

She’d charm her way into comfort and security.

And then, there was Boss Su.

The mysterious figure who ran the base with an iron fist.

Su Yun smirked, recalling the rumors—that Boss Su was a woman.

Ridiculous.

Probably started by jealous won who had failed to catch Boss Su’s eye.

She wasn’t worried.

If Boss Su was a man, she’d have him wrapped around her finger in no ti.

And if the rumors were true?

Well, she’d cross that bridge when she got there.

Seduction wasn’t always about romance; sotis, it was about power.

With a determined flick of her hair, Su Yun straightened her posture, steeling herself against the oppressive heat.

She wasn’t just going to survive; she was going to thrive.

And Boss Su’s base was the first step on that path.

She only needed to catch the attention of a capable man and she had an idea who.

Her gaze turned to Pei ng.

He was a capable person.

Though he was a middle-aged man nearing his 40s and a scary-looking person, he was an honest man.

Such type of honest man were the most easy to manipulate.

With her observation skills, she caught on one weakness of the man.

He looked to act as a hero and save the damsel in distress.

All the wives he previously had were rescued by him.

Su Yun’s eyes narrowed as she surveyed the crowd, scanning for the perfect opportunity.

Her fingers curled into fists, her mind calculating the best way to gain attention without overplaying her hand.

There were dangerous people here—too many who could easily turn on her if she was too obvious.

She had no intention of provoking soone who might actually hurt her.

Instead, she needed a target that would be believable, soone who couldn’t defend themselves.

Her eyes swept across the throng of people, but no one stood out.

Then, just as she was about to abandon the idea, her gaze landed on sothing—or rather, soone—that made her heart race with excitent.

A blue mutant cat was strolling casually in the crowd, its strikingly vivid fur gleaming under the sun, the black clothing it wore giving it an almost human-like appearance.

Su Yun’s eyes widened as she noted the strange figure accompanying it—a cloaked person who appeared to be keeping their distance.

An idea struck her like a bolt of lightning.

The mutant cat couldn’t speak, could it?

It was perfect.

If she could manipulate the situation just right, there would be no one to dispute her story.

She could fra the cat as the attacker, and no one would question it.

Her steps were light and deliberate as she approached the cat, wearing a mask of innocence.

She smiled softly at the creature, her voice cooing in feigned admiration.

“You’re so cute,” she murmured, bending slightly as if to pet it.

But in the blink of an eye, she fell backward, gasping dramatically as if struck by an unseen force.

She landed on the ground with a soft thud, the act of her sudden fall convincing to anyone watching.

Her expression twisted in mock horror as she lay there, gasping for air, and her eyes were wide with exaggerated fear.

The people around her gasped, murmuring in confusion and panic.

So seed to panic, stepping back as they believed the cat had attacked her, while others quickly glanced at the caras near the gate, instinctively knowing they needed to alert Boss Su.

The murmurs of the crowd only heightened the tension.

In an apocalypse, people had grown paranoid—everything was a potential threat.

Mutant beasts, especially ones that appeared so docile, could be unpredictable.

Su Yun’s heart beat with triumph.

Her plan was working.

As she lay on the ground, she began to sob and shout for help, her voice rising in panic.

“Soone!

Help !

The cat— it attacked !” She let her voice tremble with the perfect amount of desperation.

Her face was painted with terror as she scrambled to her feet, her eyes searching for an ally.

Her gaze quickly locked onto Pei ng.

The middle-aged man was standing a little further off, his stern expression frozen as he watched the unfolding drama.

Su Yun’s lips curled into a feigned smile of relief, and she quickly darted toward him, her steps quick and graceful.

Before Pei ng could even react, Su Yun reached him and, with a dramatic flair, flung herself into his arms.

Her soft body pressed up against him, and her chest brushed against his mouth.

The heat from the sun and the proximity of their bodies made her pulse quicken, but she kept up the act.
