Chapter 147: Chapter 147: Misery Of Doctors Chapter 147: Chapter 147: Misery Of Doctors She could still rember how, after the initial collapse, many of the surviving doctors had to rely on old textbooks and whatever instructional videos they could scavenge from the internet.

Entire fields of dical science had to be relearned from scratch.

Many of the young, aspiring doctors didn’t even get the chance to complete their training.

“And then,” Su Jiyai continued, her voice bitter, “ca the healers.” “When the apocalypse brought about the rise of superpowers, so people discovered they had the ability to heal others with a touch.

They could close wounds, cure diseases, even reverse severe injuries in a matter of seconds.” “So, healers took over from doctors?” Su Jiyai nodded.

“At first, it seed like a miracle.

People thought healers were the answer to the shortage of dical professionals.

But over ti, sothing else happened—traditional doctors began to feel… obsolete.” She sighed, recalling the disillusionnt that spread through the dical community.

“Why spend years in dical school when soone with a superpower could heal you in minutes?

Many of the doctors who survived the apocalypse began to feel useless.

They couldn’t compete with the healers, and eventually, so of them gave up on their studies altogether.” Yuan Xin frowned.

“But there are things healers can’t do, right?

They can’t replace all dical knowledge, can they?” “Exactly,” Su Jiyai agreed.

“Healers are powerful, but they aren’t perfect.

There are limits to what they can do.

They can’t diagnose complex conditions, perform surgeries, or treat the underlying causes of illnesses.

But after the apocalypse, people started relying on them so much that traditional dicine began to fall by the wayside.” She shook her head, the frustration clear in her voice.

“We lost so much knowledge in those early days.

A lot of what we know now is thanks to those who held on—those few doctors who didn’t give up, who fought to keep dical science alive.” Su Jiyai didn’t continue.

“So is Boss Su planning to recruit them?” Yuan Xin asked with hope.

Su Jiyai’s bitter chuckle echoed in the quiet conference room, drawing Yuan Xin’s attention.

“Recruit them?” she repeated softly, her gaze distant.

“It’s not that simple.” She leaned back in her chair, sighing heavily.

“It wasn’t like I never thought about it.

I had the sa idea once—to gather as many doctors as possible and restore the dical system.

But the truth is… most of them are gone.” Yuan Xin’s hopeful expression faltered.

“Gone?

But… surely so doctors survived?

There must be more than just a handful left.” Su Jiyai shook her head slowly.

“It’s worse than you think.

Every base’s military might have a few doctors who still know traditional dicine, but those people are few and far between.

Most bases only have three or four doctors at most.

Even if we summoned every single one from the nearby bases, the total number wouldn’t exceed a hundred.” She paused, letting the weight of her words sink in.

“And that’s spread across the entire region.

Every base can only recruit a handful of doctors—maybe four or five at best.

The rest?

They were left to fend for themselves.

Many of them didn’t make it.” Yuan Xin’s brow furrowed in confusion.

“But… how could that happen?

Weren’t doctors the most valuable people?

Why weren’t they protected?” Su Jiyai’s eyes darkened.

“They were, at first.

In the beginning, when the apocalypse was still new, bases prioritized protecting doctors.

But after the fifth year… everything changed.

Healers started erging in larger numbers, and people saw them as the answer to all their problems.

Why waste resources on doctors when healers could cure most injuries and diseases instantly?” She let out a weary breath, her frustration evident.

“By then, the value of traditional dicine began to decline.

Doctors weren’t needed anymore, at least not in the way they once were.

And in a world where survival was a day-to-day struggle, resources had to be prioritized.” Yuan Xin was silent, processing her words.

He had always known the world after the apocalypse was harsh, but hearing Su Jiyai’s explanation made it painfully clear how much had been lost—how society had shifted its priorities to the point where even doctors, once considered indispensable, had been cast aside.

“So… they just let them die?” he asked quietly, his voice tinged with disbelief.

Su Jiyai nodded grimly.

“If a citizen ca down with cancer or had a brain hemorrhage, they didn’t bother trying to save them.

There were no resources to spare.

Healers could only do so much, and if the situation was too complicated for a healer to handle, the person was left to their fate.

After all, it’s the apocalypse.

Whether you die at the hands of zombies or because of a disease, it doesn’t matter.” “It wasn’t a choice anyone wanted to make,” Su Jiyai said quietly, her voice filled with sadness.

“But it beca the reality.

Resources were scarce, and the military prioritized those who could contribute to the survival of the base.

If a person was deed too sick or injured, it was often easier to let them go.” Yuan Xin fell into deep thought.

Su Jiyai tapped on her forehead and said, “It’s alright.

I will try to find healers for the base.

You don’t need to worry.

Post an announcent for the recruitnt of healers as well as doctors.” However, the question was even if they recruit doctors, where will the dical equipnt co from?

Yuan Xin suppressed the question in his mind and nodded.

After he left, Su Jiyai started to find thods to impress Rui Wang.

“System?

Can you tell Rui Wang that I want to request a eting?” [Yes, host.] Rui Wang was gently patting her stomach and talking with her baby in the womb, “Jin’er go back to sleep.

My mommy is very tired.

If you keep on kicking mommy like this, she won’t be able to sleep.” Fu Lin who was sitting beside Rui Wang felt distressed for his wife.

“Wifey do you want to massage your legs?” Rui Wang’s face changed and she picked up a pillow beside her and threw it at Fu Lin with all her might.

“You jerk!

It’s all because of you!

You kept on insisting on a baby, now look at !

I don’t even get to sleep properly.” Su Jiyai: “…” Oh wow…
