Apocalypse: I Can See the HP Bar, Killing Monsters Drops Loot Chapter 1708 - 722 A Group of Scum
"Honey, do you think we can survive..."
In a shop within the furniture mall, a scrawny man in a dirty blue suit was curled up in the corner, trembling all over. Next to him lay a zombie with a steel pipe impaled in its head.
Pfft!
Han Rui, in her police uniform, pulled the steel pipe out of the zombie’s head. She drew several deep breaths, then resisted temptation and pocketed the Crystal Core that had burst out from the zombie, plopping down to sit on the ground.
Sun Weiguang’s eyes were fixed on the Crystal Core the mont it appeared. He subconsciously swallowed a gulp, staring at it until Han Rui put it away, then he finally shifted his gaze.
Han Rui looked at her husband and sighed in her heart, but she still encouraged him by saying:
"Don’t worry, honey. We will definitely survive! Hang in there!"
"But, but these zombies are terrifying! We shouldn’t have left back then..."
Recalling the scene of being ambushed by a zombie just now, Sun Weiguang’s teeth chattered.
"Our food is gone. If we don’t leave, we will starve to death."
Han Rui said, sowhat helplessly.
If there was a safe place with enough food, why would she take the risk to leave? It was all forced upon her.
"I an, I shouldn’t have left. You’re strong, you can leave. Just bring back food when you find it outside..."
Sun Weiguang complained a bit.
"..."
Hearing this, Han Rui wanted to get angry, but who told her this was her husband? She could only change the subject:
"Honey, what ti is it now?"
Both Han Rui and Sun Weiguang had lost their phones while fleeing for their lives.
"It’s half-past eleven."
Sun Weiguang looked at his watch and said.
"It’s almost 12 o’clock already..."
Han Rui frowned.
They had been busy all morning and found nothing, so they’d have to go hungry again at noon.
"Honey, do you still have any compressed biscuits?"
Sun Weiguang suddenly scooted over and asked quietly.
"There are so left, but that’s our ergency ration. We can’t eat it unless we have to!"
Han Rui looked at Sun Weiguang defensively.
The day before yesterday, Sun Weiguang had secretly eaten their rations without telling Han Rui. She thought other survivors had stolen it, which resulted in a big argunt. When she finally found out it was Sun Weiguang, she felt really embarrassed.
"Cough, I was just asking, I won’t eat..."
Sun Weiguang turned his face awkwardly.
"I’ll look for more food in the afternoon. There should be so left here. As for you, husband... you just rest here."
Han Rui said suddenly.
"Alright! I’ll be waiting for your return!"
Hearing Han Rui would search for food on her own and wanted him to rest here, Sun Weiguang was overjoyed. But he seed to think of sothing and quickly added:
"Cough, honey, you wouldn’t leave and go off on your own, right?"
"..."
Han Rui was really about to get angry this ti.
Seeing signs of anger on Han Rui’s face, Sun Weiguang quickly changed his tune:
"Ah, I was just saying. Don’t take it seriously. I know you definitely wouldn’t leave behind. After all, we’re husband and wife!"
Seeing Sun Weiguang’s timid appearance, Han Rui eventually held back.
"Don’t overthink it. Just rest well."
"Mm..."
As the two sat on the ground resting, suddenly the door was knocked.
Knock knock knock—
"Officer Han, are you all okay?"
A hoarse male voice ca from the door.
"We’re fine, co in."
Han Rui stood up imdiately.
Sun Weiguang quickly followed her to stand, but he almost stumbled, and it was Han Rui who helped him to keep him from falling.
Click—
The door opened, and several survivors ca in, six people in total, four n and two won.
The four n were fully ard, with tal plates tied to their arms and calves, carrying large bags on their backs, and holding crowbars, firefighter axes, and other weapons.
The two won were wearing dirty office uniform skirts, torn stockings, and their bare skin had many bruises and purple marks. They were being held roughly by two of the n, their faces showing awkward and ingratiating smiles.
Seeing the zombie with a steel pipe through its head in the room, the group’s gazes towards Han Rui had a hint of admiration and wariness.
Even though she was a police officer, in the end, she was still just a woman, and managing to take down a zombie alone without a gun was truly impressive!
As for why they said the zombie was taken down by her alone... Looking at Sun Weiguang, trembling all over and still in shock, it was clear he couldn’t have been of much help.
"There aren’t many zombies in this furniture mall; you just killed the last one on this floor. It’s completely safe now, as long as we don’t make too much noise."
A tall man spoke up.
"Whew—"
Hearing this, before Han Rui could say anything, Sun Weiguang imdiately let out a long breath.
"We’ve exhausted a lot of our physical strength today. Why don’t we rest here tonight and set off tomorrow? What do you think, Officer Han?"
Another muscular man with a crew cut suggested.
"Okay."
Han Rui nodded.
Seeing Han Rui had no objections, the others relaxed as well. If Han Rui insisted on continuing the journey in the afternoon, it would have been difficult for them.
At that mont, the tall man suddenly added:
"Oh, and Officer Han, we have so extra food here. Do you want any?"
"Yes—"
Hearing there was food, Sun Weiguang instinctively wanted to agree, but Han Rui pinched him hard on the waist, making him instantly hold back his words.
"No, thank you. We’re not hungry right now."
Han Rui politely declined.
"Alright, then we won’t disturb you. You and Officer Han should rest well too."
