"Prepare for battle!" Hubert ordered.
On the walls, there were only about four hundred soldiers and eight hundred civilian volunteers.
Everyone else had already evacuated the island.
Those who hadn’t evacuated yet were sent to the rehabilitation center for ergency treatnt.
After resting for fifteen minutes, they would be sent back to the battlefield to defend the south wall.
The soldiers passed through the desert, across the outer wall, and were loaded onto vehicles. They got off at the edge of the shelter, then were imdiately transported to the rehabilitation center.
Their equipnt was sent to the weapon craftsman for maintenance, and doctors at the shelter checked the soldiers’ health.
If they were healthy, they’d take a hot shower and enjoy a hearty al.
If there were health issues, they’d be sent to the infirmary.
"Are you afraid?" An old soldier with a rifle asked a young volunteer.
"Well, a little..." the young man mumbled. He had heard many stories about aliens but had never actually fought them.
He had only fought zombies a few tis.
"Hahaha!"
"What’s so funny?" The young man was sensitive.
"Brother, do you know what you’re holding? It’s the most powerful mass destruction tool humans have ever invented to combat intelligent life.
If the enemy isn’t at least a million strong, we won’t even break a sweat."
The old soldier replied while wiping away a tear.
"This old guy is so right," said another infantryman on the side.
He was regular army, not part of the volunteer force, so he was equipped with a full set of Apocalypse Knight Armor and an AP-4 rifle.
"Just trust your weapon and aim. The only regret is that aliens don’t drop loot and experience points."
"Are you really not afraid of dying?" the young volunteer asked in confusion.
"Not afraid," the soldier answered with a smile.
"I’ve died twice and co back! The first ti, a snake bit off half my neck.
The second ti, so alien vampires blew up with a fireball, almost turning to ashes.
But the boss saved , healed my wounds, and sent back to the battlefield."
"Oh my God, that’s terrifying..."
"Don’t fool the kid!"
"Phew... So you’re saying it’s not true?"
"Of course, it’s not true!"
The number of soldiers on the walls was gradually increasing, but they were running out of ti.
The ground shook when the enemy ark docked with the shelter.
As the mist cleared, a large group of monsters began pouring into the shelter.
There were humanoid monsters, insect-like monsters, and beast-shaped monsters of all kinds.
So were injured, so were already dying, but they still charged into battle regardless.
The number of enemies was astonishing.
The enemy’s line stretched about two kiloters long, packed densely with monsters, row after row, with many more rows behind.
At least a hundred thousand.
The entire beast horde rushed towards the steel wall, but climbing the wall was no easy feat.
There were strange canisters on both sides of the wall. Naturally, the monsters stepped right on them...
So monsters sensed sothing was wrong and threw the canisters over the wall, but dozens of flaming arrows rained down on them right after.
With a deafening roar, the enemy’s line was consud by a fire wall, the flas were so fierce that even the steel barriers and those monsters trying to climb the walls began to lt.
In just a few seconds, more than ten thousand lives were lost. So monsters managed to escape, but most died from burns.
Soldiers couldn’t predict where the enemy would attack from, so they planted mines all across the south wall.
Repairing the wall would cost a fortune, but it was worth it. The think tanks at military headquarters had basically mastered this kind of strategy.
Humans are cunning creatures, and they’ve prepared many other surprises for the enemy.
A large amount of water imdiately began pouring over the flas, and the mages joined the battle.
The fire was so intense that the water evaporated before reaching the flas, and then cannons started firing.
The enemy forces were shaken by eight strong explosions and dozens of smaller ones.
The soldiers were also firing mortars, with all the shells being enhanced by magic...
The fire finally died out, but the enemy did not attack; instead, they retreated.
They attempted to evacuate their wounded, but the soldiers fired shells that were not magically enhanced, making it extrely difficult to retreat under such heavy fire.
"What do you think?" Lin Yi asked Azarus.
"It’s Mizar Altus," the forr Agona vassal observed through binoculars.
"It must be him. He’s the only vassal who relies so heavily on chiras; he’s a madman and is said to be trying to reach level 4 skills."
"Could this retreat be a mistake?"
"Impossible. That old guy is very cautious, a little timid even, but his greatest advantage is adaptability.
He’ll definitely assess our strength and then create chiras specifically targeting our weaknesses."
"Can he quickly create chiras?"
If this guy can make chiras that bullet and fla can’t kill, they’ll be in trouble...
"Faster than most, just three to seven days. He may also wait for reinforcents or let the zombies overwhelm us."
"Three days?" Lin Yi chuckled.
That’s too long, this lord is dood!
The range of the howitzers is enough for the forces of the shelter to attack the vampire’s fortress without leaving the base.
