Inside the Shelter.

When they heard the boss woke up, about half the people in the shelter ran to his house to see him.

However, by the ti they arrived, he had already left, so they found Solomon, who promptly betrayed him.

He couldn’t do anything about it either.

The girls had so dirt on him...

"What are you doing here? Don’t you have work to do?" Lin Yi muttered as he took off his helt.

This set of power armor was filled with electronic devices, including a screen inside the helt displaying a lot of useful information.

"It’s not fair, boss! We were really worried about you!" Annie protested.

"The professor told you I was fine, you’re acting like children. Get away! Go on!"

"Boss! We just wanted to see, it’s so cool!"

"What’s so cool about it? Just an ordinary set of power armor, not even that great."

"Not that great? But we saw you flying around in it! It looked aweso!"

"Who needs to fly around on the battlefield? It’s too resource-draining, you only get five minutes of mobility, then the reactor gives up.

A battle might last dozens of hours.

Unlike humans, zombies don’t get tired.

Of course, it might be useful for special operations... maybe.

The last set was too heavy, and we don’t have weapons big enough, no need for such armor...

Unless we start training, super-heavy frontline infantry, we still need to do more testing."

Grumpy Lin Yi took off the power armor and moved on to the next prototype, a set of dium power armor.

It is slightly larger than the "Slaughterer-2" model, but its attributes are almost 1.5 tis higher.

Its enhanced power and mobility are excellent.

This armor is visibly thinner than the heavy one, but thanks to a special alloy made from so multi-layer...

material, it is still much better than the "Slaughterer-2" model.

The last prototype is basically the sa as the previous one, with one difference.

On its back, there is a small device called a "Jumping Backpack."

Lin Yi had to leave the test area to try it out.

He jumped up and imdiately flew to a height of 30 ters in the air, the jumping backpack had no way to control his movent during the jump.

But then the DSE system kicked in.

Lin Yi managed to fly to the rooftop of a building and landed safely.

Then in the air, he spun 180 degrees and jumped down, then jumped again, flying face-first like Iron Man for a while.

From the ground, it wasn’t actually that cool because his arms and legs were flailing all over the place.

He quickly ran out of fuel.

"This is simply amazing!" Annie shouted, and the others all agreed.

"Boss, can I also try flying?" Xiaochuan asked, very jealous that his brother could transform into a dragon.

"Sure, go refuel, and have fun, but rember, even with my ’Combat Reflex’ skill, controlling it isn’t easy."

Leaving Xiaochuan with a puzzled look, Lin Yi returned inside to try the last prototype.

This was a heavy power armor set just like the first one, but differently equipped.

On its back was sothing that looked like a combination of a weapon and a backpack, only several tis bigger.

The manual called it— "Infantry Poker Prototype, PPK - 1 Model."

Lin Yi would read any manual; if a pair of scissors ca with one, he’d read it too.

He transported to the test area and also brought over the onlookers.

If he didn’t do this, they’d be moody for days, staring at him with their sad big eyes.

He also brought along Hubert and Solomon.

He selected a wall of earth covered with tal plates as a target; according to the manual, the effective range of the PPK - 1 was a hundred yards.

He reached his right arm over his left shoulder and grabbed the weapon.

The weapon looked like a dieval cannon, but with many different openings on the barrel.

The whole device was a bit clumsy, but it was just a prototype, so Lin Yi didn’t mind too much.

The gun had no trigger, but sothing like a button.

Pressing and holding the button, the weapon began to hiss, and after two seconds, a steady stream of conical tal bullets started shooting out from inside.

The bullets kept shooting out, striking the target at high speed and embedding into the tal plates.

"This thing has no effect on armored vehicles, and the sa goes for mutated half-chanical people, but it’s more than enough for regular zombies," Lin Yi thought.

The ammunition is fed from the backpack into the weapon, and like the others, this armor also emitted steam.

But the longer Lin Yi shot, the faster the fuel and water stored in the cylindrical containers were consud.

Each type of container has two, located at the armor’s chest. As long as the warrior can transport supplies from the warehouse, they can replace them themselves.

Almost all the soldiers in the shelter had acquired this ability long ago.

Lin Yi kept shooting for four minutes.

Afterward, all that was left of the wall was a small pile of dirt and so damaged tal plates.

"Well, what do you think?" Lin Yi asked as he took off the helt.

Hubert snorted and said.

"I’d rather have a high-caliber machine gun. But I still quite like this, it’s cheap and powerful, and the ammunition seems reusable."

"I agree, the range is a bit short, but overall, not bad. What about other aspects?"

"I feel like its basic cost might be much higher than the ’Slaughterer.’ Of course, so improvents can enhance survivability.

But in terms of defense, they’re almost useless.

On the other hand, in offense, they would be very valuable, close combat warriors would love the DSE system."

"Alright, hand it over to the Weapon Smiths and let them start production," Lin Yi nodded and said...

After finishing his tasks, Lin Yi summoned Sylvie, who happened to be nearby, and ordered her to start crafting Power Armor, but for now, just the dium-sized ones.

The first few sets will be the most difficult.

They need to be crafted according to the blueprints, and once the workshop morizes the crafting thod, they can start semi-automatic production.

However, this will still consu a lot of ti, money, and energy.

Lin Yi went to find the professor, who had been waiting for him for a while. For the rest of the day, Lin Yi was tornted by a series of exhausting tests.

"I can say with great certainty, you are no longer human.

First, you only have 21 pairs of chromosos instead of the usual 23, and two-thirds of them have undergone significant changes."

The professor spoke, his eyes bright, his heart racing with excitent. He now appeared to be about forty years old.

He didn’t want to appear too young, at least outwardly, because hormonal changes might distract him and affect his extrely important work.

As a dical Master, he was using all the new tools at his disposal to study the tree Lin Yi found on the Moving Island.

This strange tree absorbs the Zombie virus and converts it into energy to fuel its growth.

It couldn’t thrive in the Shelter; while it was slowly withering, people found a temporary solution.

By planting its roots in an Energy Core filled with the Zombie virus, the professor can now inject Life Force from the Shelter into the tree to help it grow.

But to make his research more effective, he needs soil infected with the virus, preferably on another Moving Island, because the virus load on Moving Islands is a hundred tis higher than on Earth.

"Indeed, I’m no longer human—I’ve evolved to a more Advanced state. What about other aspects? Like my brain?"

"The situation has improved; it’s amazing you can think like you do now, or even be alive. Your brain looks like a jigsaw puzzle that’s been pieced together wrong."

"So, even you can’t cure ?"

"Regrettably, your Regeneration Skills should have restored your brain to its original state long ago, but..."

"Hmm..."

"As for other aspects... your body is simply phenonal! Your bone structure, organs, even your skin...

For example, your heart looks like an ordinary human heart, but it has the ability to purify blood.

Even if soone poisons you, the Poison will be instantly neutralized as soon as it reaches your heart.

You now require only one-tenth of the Air you needed before, and your body seems to be able to extract nutrients from the surrounding energy.

Your body essentially won’t age, but I’m not sure about your brain..."

"So, it’s possible that my brain will die of old age, but my body will still be as young and handso as ever?"

"Precisely." The old man said, putting the docunts aside. After a brief pause, he continued.

But his eyes were twinkling.

"I’ve determined that your blood contains a large amount of Life Force absorbed from the environnt, so I believe it can be used to make highly effective dicines."

"Doctor, I’m not a blood bank."

Lin Yi teleported to the open area in the center of the Shelter.

Dinner was ready, but no one started eating because they were all waiting for him.

The professor was also late, but no one waited for him.

"Where’s Mary?"

"Boss, she gave birth yesterday. Beastman childbirth is terrifying!" Annie replied.

Most of the girls agreed.

"Oh? What did she na the child? It’s a boy, right?"

"He’s called Ter Al. In Taru, the na roughly ans ’Unifier’ or sothing like that."

"Right, Martha helped her with the delivery!"

"Chen Youyou, where is Rein?"

"She hasn’t slept for three days."

"She loves the boss to death... ouch!"

Annie exclaid after Orianna gave her a hard knock on the back of her head.

"Let her sleep, but where should I sleep?"

Lin Yi, of course, knew Rein had fallen for him, but he only saw her as a child.

She was very beautiful, and to say he had no feelings for her would be a lie, but he knew that if he ever gave in to temptation, he’d be in endless trouble.

"Don’t sleep at Chen Youyou’s place, okay?" one of the girls shouted.

Everyone looked at her in confusion.

"Her... the soundproofing there, is really very poor!" she explained.

"Hahaha! Then I’ll sleep in one of the empty apartnts. By the way, how are the housing conditions?"

"As planned, there’s a significant amount of surplus housing. We can accommodate another 19,000 people."

"There’s a surplus, huh? That’s good," Lin Yi said, then looked at Sylvie, "Have you upgraded all the equipnt?"

"Yes, Boss. And you’ll be surprised by the Attributes of these equipnt! We ended up spending 22 million in total."

Lin Yi had a heart attack upon hearing this news.

"Where did you get so much money?!"

"We took the money from the Vending Machine’s account. But it was totally worth it, Boss!

The ’Apocalypse Knight’ sets are almost better than our level 4 sets, and we now have 980 sets."

Solomon answered for Sylvie.

"The guns are aweso, both tactically and technically, and what’s more, their Ammunition is cheap."

"How many guns do we have again?"

"909, plus a warehouse full of Ammunition."

"I’ll check the performance after lunch."

A lot had happened in the past three days, so he was busy until sunset...
