Chapter 243: Small-scale Rescue Mission

“The situation is like that, have a discussion and see how we can get through it.”

Inside the conference room, cigarette smoke lingered in the air, aside from Old Frank that did not smoke, the ashtrays in front of Zhang Xiao Qiang, He Wen Bin, and Three were filled. Behind them on a bench, Zhang Huai An, Wang Le, Lu Ren Yi, and Fat Chef all held cigarettes in their hands, adding to the smoke and dropping ashes all over the floor.

Zhang Xiao Qiang narrated what he saw in the city. Everyone turned silent, the migration of the zombies was a large calamity the base faced, one wrong mistake would lead them to be drowned by the imnse horde and no one was able to bear the responsibility. No one dared to take responsibility for the thousand human lives and waited for Zhang Xiao Qiang to make a decision.

Zhang Xiao Qiang waited for a few minutes as he looked back at them. Seeing that none of them spoke and waited for him to make the decision, Zhang Xiao Qiang hesitated as well. How many days had he been the leader of the base? Before, he was just a minor and quiet otaku character trying to survive, but now he had to decide the problem that would determine the future of a thousand people. He too felt the imnse pressure.

Zhang Xiao Qiang kept silent with the rest. Ti crawled by and the second-hand smoke inside the house beca denser. Old Frank was unable to tolerate it any further and pulled open the window, allowing ventilation into the room and caused the substantial and dense smoke to pour out of the window. Watching the smoke being pulled out of the room, Zhang Xiao Qiang thought of sothing.

“When can the wall be completed?” Zhang Xiao Qiang looked at Old Frank and asked.

“As of today, the periter wall has been in construction for a month half, the main body requires another three weeks. After three weeks, the main bulk of the wall will just be like a frawork and all the electric lines, pipelines, interiors and supply reserves will be barely started.”

Zhang Xiao Qiang did not really care about the miscellaneous things, what he needed was not a small scale military facility but a wall capable of stopping a D2, and prevent any zombies from passing through.

“Can it be faster? At the very best, within the next half month?” What Zhang Xiao Qiang was lacking the most was ti, if the zombies moved after a month, what did he have to fear. With the machine guns and mortar at hand, all they had to do was to stay within the base, what could the zombies do?

“My estimations are already at the fastest ti of completion, the workers work 12 hours a day at 2 shifts, the construction site operates 24 hours a day and they are all extrely tired already. If we give them more tasks, I cannot ensure the quality and the fatigue might even cause injuries or death.”

At this point, Zhang Xiao Qiang knew that Old Frank never spoke empty words, which gave him insufficient ti. He only had three weeks to do sothing to stop the large migration of zombies.

“I asked you to send people to J-City to check it out yesterday, what’s the situation there?”

The mont Three heard the question, his solemn face beca black. He thought back about the report from his subordinate.... “Brother Three, we’re back, fuck man, we almost didn’t make it!” The four of them were covered in soot as they reported back to Three.

“What’s going on there? What’s happening to the zombies?” Three ignored their complaints and chased for the main issue.

“Brother Three, you received it but did not take a look. They number so many and covered everything, as far as we could see. I did not dare to count them, my eyes hurt just from looking at the large number. I reckon that there are a few ten thousands of them. Right, the chicken farm that we had turned into a zombie nest.”

“Are the zombies scattered or in groups?” Three did not care about the numbers, the more scattered they were, the easier to kill.

“We ran around the entire J-City yesterday but were unable to get past the west and north part. On our side, we noticed that the zombies split into two large force and searched in two directions. One of them was about ten thousand zombies, and let tell you this. Wherever they passed through, they didn’t let off a single living thing.”

Here, the mber recalled back the scene and continued, “In the past, I never really saw any animals, and I thought that they had all died. But after the zombies combed the place, I realized that there were many animals inside. Foxes the size of dogs, hens the size of geese, rabbits that run extrely fast, oh, I rember seeing two newborn wild boars. All of these creatures were surrounded by the zombies and torn to shreds.”

“No....” Another mber interrupted.

“I rember that only the small animals were torn to shreds, the bigger ones were sent to the zombie horde behind....”

“Right, Brother Three, I saw many survivors as well. When the zombies rushed in, all of them were forced out of hiding, many of them were caught. So of them almost reached us and we wanted to bring them back, but in the end, we were almost caught ourselves...” The four mbers had equipnt similar to patrol teams, with an off-road vehicle that had a heavy machine gun attached to it, but the machine gun was a water-cooled Maxim Gun, the biggest difference between it and an air-cooled machine gun was that as long as there was water supplied to lower the temperature and the gun barrel and rifling had not worn off, the maxim gun could continue firing.

They noticed three n and a lady 300m away with over a hundred zombies on their tail. The scout team used the HMG and sprayed at the zombies while attempting to rescue the four survivors.

Who would have known that when they were about to converge, an S2 suddenly jumped out from the grass. Two of the n were imdiately ripped apart at their chest, leaving only a couple that ran towards the mbers.

But they did not know the habit of an S2, it would always target and kill those who resist and run first before feasting on them. The S2 quickly caught up to the man and dug his heart out. But before it could enjoy the blood, 11.43mm HMG bullets shot into its body and ford a few large holes.

The S2 no longer tried to attack the mbers, but instead ran away. The mbers drove over and pulled the woman into the vehicle when more than 10 Type-S zombies appeared with the injured S2 behind them.

The Maxim Gun employed a constant 333 bullets 6 by 4-ter long bandolier to supply the ammunition. The bandolier was continuous, allowing the two gunners to unleash a barrage of bullets that sprayed across the zombies while the off-road vehicle reversed.

Countless large bullets penetrated and killed the zombies and it looked as though they were about to escape. But the 333 bandolier was emptied out and the machine gun stopped firing. This was when the S2 pounced onto the vehicle.

The maxim gun no longer had any bullets to fire and held the machine gun, stupefied. His assistant held onto a new bandolier, which ant the two of them had no weapons. And no weapons in front of the S2 ant that they were streak naked.
