Chapter 55: Chapter 55 Deliberately Provoking War

Billowing smoke and the sound of stir-frying in an iron wok erged from the stairwell, probably owners had dismantled wooden furniture to make a fire and cook in the corridor.

Without electricity, the smoke detectors and fire sprinklers in the passageways were also ineffective.

The pungent, choking sll of smoke and fire perated everywhere.

Jiang Yan had actually been restless at ho for quite so ti, but she still chose to hunker down at ho and not go out.

Moreover, because a bunch of unknown “intruders” had temporarily arrived in the building, she temporarily abandoned her plan to go down to the seventh floor to seek revenge on Zhang Qiqi.

After all, at this mont, everyone, whether He Chuni or others, thought she had gone to an official refuge and had not returned.

So, she would just live peacefully for a few more days.

As for Zhang Qiqi, with the rain so heavy now, she was naturally trapped in the building.

She would just let her bounce around for a few more days.

While others were worried sick about their next al, Jiang Yan spent her days busily shuttling between Space and the safe house, happily engaged in her activities.

Study, hands-on practice, gourt food, fitness, entertainnt, planting—she had a full schedule of various activities.

The various vegetable seeds previously scattered in Space had also sprouted into small tender seedlings about an inch long.

Following agricultural tutorials, she chose so relatively robust ones and transplanted them one by one.

Seeds for chives and roses were also sown, and now tiny green sprouts were popping up here and there.

The flowers she had planted earlier were growing vigorously as well.

She estimated that it wouldn’t be long before they blood.

Jiang Yan suddenly realized that ever since she started planting vegetables and flowers in the black soil of Space, the entire Space had co to life.

Perhaps this was the magic brought by new life.

If she were to raise so animals as well, would it feel even better?

But with the heatwave and rainstorm outside, it was uncertain whether any small animals were still alive.

Only after the rain stopped could she find the right ti to go out and look.

That morning, just after she had finished breakfast, she heard intermittent noises through the surveillance, and she quickly picked up her pad.

It ca from the 20th floor’s footage.

The usually empty elevator waiting area and the corridor were now crowded with people.

n, won, old, and young alike.

So had laid down mats and pitched tents in the elevator waiting area.

A few others were standing, gathered at the door of Apartnt 2003.

Seeing the furious expressions on everyone’s faces, it was highly likely there was a conflict brewing.

Jiang Yan switched the display to single-screen mode, put on the Bluetooth earpiece, and turned up the volu a little.

“Zhao Xiaobo, what the hell gives you the right to live in Su Laifu’s house?! Even if his family all died a few days ago, you can’t just muscle in like that?!!” roared a thick-voiced, aggressive man with a square face and inverted triangle eyes.

The man was rather strapping, with a tattoo of black and red intertwined on his arm.

Though his hair and beard were unkempt, at first glance he didn’t look like soone who had spent twenty days underground, hungry one al and full the next.

Several n and won of similar age stood beside him.

A few n were holding kitchen knives, sharpening rods, large wrenches, and small hamrs—weapons cobbled together from household items.

Despite them being improvised, one could sense their ominous and lethal intent.

In won’s hands were children being led or luggage being dragged, seemingly multiple families banded together.

“It’s not like that, Gao Dazhuang, the house is empty anyway, and just now you sneaked over to pry open the door, weren’t you aiming for this? Stop showing off your cleverness and ignoring your own faults!!” retorted the middle-aged man inside nad Zhao Xiaobo with curly, unkempt hair, equally unwilling to stand aside.

His wife and child had died the day before, and he was seething with anger with no outlet for his fury.

In his hand tightly clenched a Bone Chopper.

“Exactly, why can’t we live here?! Many from the first and second floors have moved up to live in empty apartnts! Why don’t you confront them!!! Damn! You think we’re easy to bully?!!” Another naturally curly-haired young man cursed bitterly, probably Zhao Xiaobo’s brother.

Both n were irate, completely oblivious to the fact that their opponents were already struggling to restrain themselves, weapons in hand.

Gao Dazhuang flexed his wrists and scoffed, “Damn right I’ve set my sights on the twentieth floor, and what are you going to do about it?!!”

“Old Gao, these two are just screws begging to be tightened! Why waste words with them?! Either way, we’ll live in this room today, whether they let us or not, we’ll live in it!!”

A man with a Pot Lid Head, looking ferocious, finished speaking and swung the hamr in his hand viciously toward the door.

With him taking the lead, the others pounced like starving wolves.

So won behind tightened their pupils and stepped aside, while others quickly covered their children’s eyes with their hands.

“Pff!”

“Thud!”

“Aow!!”

“Thud!”

“…”

In between screams of agony and the sound of heavy blows, bright red blood and chunks of flesh splattered everywhere.

The scent of gore spread through the moist, moldy air.

“Damn it!!”

“Dare to kill my brother, I’ll fight you all to the death!!”

“Ah!!!!”

“Pfff!”

“Thud!”

“…”

Those living out in the corridor, confronted with this savage and bloody scene, shrank back against the wall.

Those in tents simply shook as they silently zipped their tents shut.

And a few people looked on, their eyes empty and numb, oddly calm.

Less than a minute later.

The two curly-haired n were bloodied and limp as Gao Dazhuang and his group dragged them out.

The one nad Zhao Xiaobo had part of his skull caved in and shattered, his brain matter saturated with blood dripping on the floor.

“Fourth Brother, go open a window!”

Soone dashed forward to open the corridor windows.

“Boom!”

The cold wind poured in, carrying large raindrops.

“Plop!”

“Plop!”

The two fresh corpses were thrown into the water.

Their blood quickly diffused, but was soon washed away by the torrential rain and disappeared.

“Fuck! There’s blood all over the living room floor; living here is so unlucky!!”

“Brother Dazhuang, I was too rash just now; if I had known, I should have dragged them out to settle this.” Pot Lid Head said with a sheepish smile.

“Drag them out? They had weapons in their hands, just like us!” another man interjected.

“Forget it, let’s go inside first, and later find a rag to wipe it up a bit,” Gao Dazhuang took charge, preparing to step inside.

Just then, a coquettish voice echoed from the distant corridor.

“Well, well, Brother Dazhuang, your several families cramd into this apartnt must feel squeezed, right? Besides, now that you’ve reached the 20th floor, why not think about moving a little higher, settle it in one go?”

Hearing this all too familiar voice, Jiang Yan’s eyes darkened slightly.
