Chapter 246: Chapter 246: Underground Military Base? Chapter 246: Chapter 246: Underground Military Base? “Okay, Brother Song!”

Kong Wu reached out, nodded to the warriors beside him in farewell, and quickly left for the SNP lab to fetch Ye Qing.

The three were wearing black special operations stealth boots today, making no sound as they walked through the quiet hallway.

Song Qian handed Jiang Yan a pair of night vision glasses, and then gestured with a hand:

“Let’s go, Jiang Yan, Leader Mo is still waiting on the 101st floor underground for our response.”

The 101st floor underground???

Jiang Yan clucked her tongue inwardly.

She had thought she misheard when he had instructed Kong Wu earlier.

She took a deep breath, locked the door, put on the glasses, and routinely pulled a mask out of her pocket to wear. As she walked, she recalled the map that Song Qian had shown her.

The map was originally crudely drawn, marking the Underground City, but she hadn’t realized it spanned so many levels.

It sounded quite unbelievable.

However, the hallway was lined with rental rooms on both sides, clearly not the place for detailed discussions.

Jiang Yan had no choice but to suppress her curiosity and followed closely behind Song Qian towards the end of the corridor.

Her hands seed leisurely tucked in her pockets, but in reality, her right hand now held a mini handgun.

After winding through the corridor maze for what felt like ages, Song Qian led her to a large area resembling an elevator lobby.

Card swiped, lock opened, another card swiped, another lock opened.

After repeating this sequence five or six tis, an elevator lit with dim lights appeared before them.

Jiang Yan sharply noticed that from the card swipe onward, the hallway was lined with 360-degree rotating caras.

And now, on the roof outside the elevator, there were even two nearly imperceptible gun ports.

She wasn’t sure if there were snipers lying in wait above.

Jiang Yan silently took a breath.

This place was more heavily defended than she had anticipated.

It seed that the information she had gathered during her previous undercover stint at the base was rely scratching the surface.

Outside the elevator, there stood a muscular, fully ard warrior who snapped to attention and saluted upon seeing Song Qian: “Captain Song.”

Jiang Yan noted the weapons on him, which included a standard submachine gun and a high-powered stun gun.

Song Qian nodded slightly and handed his card to the warrior.

The warrior took it with both hands, swiped it over the elevator, then swiped his own card and the elevator doors opened with a sound.

“Captain Song, please take this back,” the man returned the card to Song Qian and then turned to retrieve two portable oxygen bottles and two helts from behind him, handing them over, “Please keep these and wear them.”

“Thank you,” said Song Qian, donning his helt and stepping into the elevator, with Jiang Yan following closely.

Once settled, the elevator began to descend.

It was significantly faster than the elevator Jiang Yan had taken into the Underground City.

And the elevator seed to be built along the side of a cliff, surrounded by vast open spaces. Further out, there were layers of semicircular steel-frad structures.

These appeared to be various types of dwellings.

Like in many apocalyptic science fiction films she had seen before, magnificently constructed.

If what she had previously seen was the Underground City, then this place felt more like the Earth Core City.

Seeing her frown and gaze out, Song Qian spoke up:

“This elevator is surrounded by bulletproof glass that has been fitted with a high-grade one-way film. We can clearly see outside, but those outside can’t see inside.

Additionally, I only found out yesterday about the 101 levels underground being kept as top secret information.”

Jiang Yan understood the implications of his words, responding with a grunt, glancing at the elevator cara in the corner, and casually ntioned, “This helt and oxygen bottle?”

“Just temporary safety asures. We can return them when we exit. Actually, this Underground City was built to the highest seismic standards.”

“Even with the highest seismic standards, could it really withstand shifts in the Earth’s crust? If an earthquake like those in Xiangcheng and Anming were to strike, these hundred levels underground…”

Song Qian couldn’t help but smile: “Don’t worry. For the next ten years, Jin City and East Mountain won’t experience such earthquakes.”

Jiang Yan: “What makes you say that?”

“Rumors outside claim the Xue Family chose Jin City for locating the Fla Base partly because of certain geomantic theories—saying north brings wealth, south brings prosperity, east brings poverty, and west brings decline. But actually, it’s more because of the geological conditions and terrain here.”

Seeing that the elevator was only at the 35th level, Song Qian added, “Jiang Yan, do you know where the deepest underground tunnel in the world was before the apocalypse?”

Jiang Yan shook her head, not understanding why he suddenly asked this.

“The publicly known deepest is in the Country of Clocks at the St. Gotthard Base Tunnel, stretching 57 kiloters long, 2438.4 ters below the surface, and it took 17 years to complete.”

Jiang Yan’s pupils contracted slightly, and she looked at Song Qian, knowing he had more to say.

The man loved to give long-winded introductions.

“Below our current position, there is also a tunnel, not as deep, but spanning over three hundred kiloters. Thanks to advanced machinery and national efforts, it was completed in just one year.”

“Does it run from Jin City to East Mountain?”

“Yes.”

“So, if you agree to go to East Mountain with us, traveling through this tunnel would take only about an hour or two,” he concluded, giving her a aningful look.

Jiang Yan remained composed, inwardly taking a deep breath.

On the surface, Song Qian was rely stating a fact, but the implied ssage was crystal clear.

1. Mo Jingsheng’s sudden arrival at Fla Base during a blizzard and thunderstorm now had an explanation.

2. This tunnel had been built a year ago—not coincidentally, but as so were preparing for natural disasters.

3. These preparations were far earlier than her own.

And the ground-level bases built post-disaster were just an eye-blocking technique.

In reality, the Underground City had been clandestinely completed long before.

3. He was revealing what they called “top secret information” because of his great trust in her, ti and again.

4. The relationship between Fla Base and Yaoben Base was intricate.

Reflecting on these points, Jiang Yan felt a sudden heaviness in her heart.

Oh well, since she had co, she might as well see what Mo Jingsheng was up to.

“Duang—”

Lost in thought, the elevator reached the -101st level.

Following protocol, Song Qian swiped his card and opened the door.

A brightly lit lounge and several fully ard warriors appeared.

Staring at the security equipnt ahead, Jiang Yan willed the handgun back into the Space.

After the security checks, leaving the helt and oxygen bottle behind, a lone warrior stepped forward to continue leading them inside.

They encountered many warriors on guard duty.

Each of these warriors stood tall and imposing, evidently handpicked.

Jiang Yan had a montary déjà vu of being in so special secret military base.

But this was clearly the Underground City beneath Xue Miaomiao’s Fla Base.

Could there be a city within a city?

Since arriving on the 101st level, Song Qian had fallen silent, occasionally giving her reassuring looks.

He was almost literally wearing a “Don’t Worry” sign on his face.

They andered through the premises and finally stopped in front of a room with a door made of raw concrete that was actually a special material.

The warrior raised his hand to signal a pause, then took a step forward and gently knocked:

“Leader, Miss Jiang has arrived.”

“Co in,” a deep and firm male voice responded from within.
