Chapter 1134: Representative Of The Supre Council
High Priest Poer went to a corner of the study, where a special small table was set up, on which there was a mageweath that looked extrely complex. He then took out a few magical crystals, and placed them on several nodes of the mageweath. After the last magical crystal was laid down, mana began to flow quickly along the magic circuit, and soon the entire mageweath began to emit a faint magical light.
As the light of the mageweath got brighter and brighter, an illusory light curtain that resembled a mirror began to take shape above the mageweath. About another 10-odd minutes passed, and the light curtain finally changed again, gradually revealing the scene in a room while a scrawny old man walked into it.
“My friend, why did you rember to contact today? Have you already thought of a solution to the issue about the mageweath that we discussed during our last eting?” asked Rosen, the deputy chairman of the Supre Council.
Each person had their own social circle, just like Andoine who had forged friendly ties with so pharmaceutical masters of the Pharmacist Guild because of his obsession with pharmaceutics. He also made connections with those who had high attainnts in pharmaceutics in the Felan Kingdom and Ledin Kingdom, as well as villains who were normally considered to be horrendous.
The pharmacists would often hold so gatherings to discuss issues about pharmaceutics, which were similar to the gatherings held by inscribers. Rosen and Poer might be the deputy chairman of the Supre Council and the high priest of the Gilded Kingdom, respectively, and it seed impossible for them to cross paths, but because of their common love for inscription, they shared a close friendship.
“I’m really sorry, sothing happened recently, so I wasn’t in the mood to study those mageweaths,” Poer said, shaking his head. He seed to be in a difficult situation.
Hearing Poer’s words, Rosen thought of sothing. Since he wasn’t going to discuss inscriptions with him, and even took the initiative to contact him, Poer obviously had a favor to ask of him. High Priest Poer was a real Sanctuary powerhouse. Although Rosen would not deliberately try to suck up to him, he attached great importance to the friendship between him and Poer.
Hence, Rosen did not think much about it, and took the initiative to ask, “My friend, is there sothing that you need help with?”
Rosen’s straightforwardness was mainly because he considered the fact that it surely indeed required great strength to solve this matter, and it was unlikely that Poer would need help with sothing that he could do himself since he was a Sanctuary powerhouse. Hence, Rosen reckoned that Poer would need help with sothing that was within his ans, such as the provision of so specialties of the mainland or mageweath materials.
“Here’s the thing. I heard that the Guild of Magic of the Breezy Plains, which is also known as the Tower of Dusk, is under the jurisdiction of the Supre Council. Is that the case?” High Priest Poer was afraid of making a fool out of himself, and thus decided to get a clear idea of things first. After all, he had never heard about the establishnt of a guild of magic in the Breezy Plains by the Supre Council before.
Rosen, who was seated opposite the curtain of light, imdiately kept his guard up when he suddenly thought of the Tower of Dusk. However, he did not show much of his emotions, and simply smiled a little before calmly saying, “Yes, the Breezy Plains Guild of Magic was established by us four to five years ago.”
“Oh. The thing is, the Gilded Kingdom celebrates the establishnt of the kingdom soon, and we invited quite a few forces of the Breezy Plains, including the Tower of Dusk, to the founding celebration. However, the young president of the Tower of Dusk might be competent, but there are issues with his character and the way he treats others. We got into a minor conflict because of a trivial disagreent. Can you remind him in the na of the Supre Council not to affect the relationship between the Gilded Kingdom and the Supre Council?” Poer asked. As a Sanctuary powerhouse, he obviously couldn’t directly complain to Rosen, so he beat about the bush for a while before getting straight to the point.
In fact, High Priest Poer didn’t expect Rosen’s orders to be enough to make President Felic of the Tower of Dusk lower himself and be respectful towards him. No matter what, Lin Li was also a very strong Sanctuary powerhouse, and even if he was just the president of the Guild of Magic under the Supre Council, he had a significant status in the Supre Council too.
Hence, High Priest Poer simply hoped that Rosen could put so pressure on Lin Li in the na of the Supre Council, and convince him to treat the previous events as a misunderstanding. In that case, the Gilded Kingdom would have a smoother negotiation with the Tower of Dusk in the future, and not lose the upper hand because of this matter.
However, as soon as Rosen heard High Priest Poer’s words, his heart sank. Now, Rosen had already suffered a loss because of Lin Li. Firstly, he nitpicked on Lin Li, and in the end, Lin Li beca a prestigious mber of the Supre Council. Secondly, he ended up causing Lin Li to beco the deputy chairman, which was on the sa level as his. If he tried to nitpick on Lin Li again, how high of a position would Lin Li rise to in the Supre Council again?
In particular, the three arbitrators of the Supre Council had shown blatant favoritism to Lin Li, which was obvious to everyone in the Supre Council. Hence, Rosen was afraid that he might end up losing his position as deputy chairman if he had any more contact with Lin Li.
Once he heard that High Priest Poer wanted him to pressurize President Felic of the Tower of Dusk, Rosen knew that the Gilded Kingdom and Poer must have suffered huge losses because of Lin Li. Otherwise, Poer, who was a real Sanctuary powerhouse, definitely wouldn’t swallow his pride to ask him for help.
Although Rosen was friends with Poer, the only reason their friendship existed was the study of inscription. They wouldn’t risk their lives for each other. Rosen wouldn’t be willing to lose his position as deputy chairman of the Supre Council because of Poer, or create trouble for Lin Li and end up offending the three arbitrators. Besides, Lin Li was now the deputy chairman of the Supre Council who was of equal status to Rosen, so how could Rosen dare to boss him around?
However, Rosen would not directly reject Poer. After all, Poer was also a true Sanctuary powerhouse and the high priest of the Gilded Kingdom. Hence, he smiled a little, and said to High Priest Poer, “Okay, I’ll send soone to find out more about the situation. By the way, I have a eting to attend, let’s end it here for today.”
High Priest Poer did not notice anything amiss, and he didn’t think that Rosen would patronize him, either. In his opinion, this matter should be a piece of cake for Rosen. Hence, after Rosen said that he was going to attend a eting, Poer didn’t think much of it, and simply said, “Alright, I will not impose on you any further. Goodbye.”
After disconnecting, Rosen, who was far away in the Sky Garden, did not attend any eting, and instead remained seated at the table, staring blankly into space. After a long ti of silence, Rosen suddenly smacked the table and stood up. He cursed, “Damn it, he must be joking. That kid Felic is a jinx, and I can’t wait to steer clear of him whenever I see him. Why would I create trouble for myself? Poer must be muddle-headed. Of all people, he had to get involved with that jinx and implicate too!”
After that lesson, Rosen dared not think of provoking Lin Li at all, and he would be thankful enough to keep his position as the deputy chairman. He did not want to get himself into trouble again for a nominal friend like Poer. If that happened, even his life would be in danger, what more his position as the deputy chairman. Lin Li was valued greatly by the three arbitrators!
However, High Priest Poer could no longer hear Rosen’s complaints, and was simply rejoicing because he thought that he was finally able to solve the matter. In his opinion, although Lin Li was very strong, he had to show so respect to the Supre Council. Besides, the Guild of Magic that he presided over was subject to the Supre Council’s sanctions.
Therefore, in the next two days, High Priest Poer’s mood could be considered pleasant, and he had also specially sent soone to keep an eye on the embassy area to wait for the Supre Council to co over and make Lin Li apologize to him for what happened before.
Two days later, the subordinates sent to keep an eye on the area really ca to report to him saying that the envoy of the Supre Council had arrived. As soon as he heard this news, High Priest Poer imdiately got excited, packed up, and brought his two followers with him to et the ssenger sent by the Supre Council.
Of course, High Priest Poer could not publically say that he was waiting for the Supre Council to pressure the president of the Tower of Dusk, as that would seem like he was waiting for the Supre Council to do the job for him. Therefore, his statent was that Rosen, the deputy chairman of the Supre Council, had close ties with him, and thus he was going to personally et the ssenger on behalf of the Gilded Kingdom.
However, when High Priest Poer arrived at the place of reception, he was told that the ssenger of the Supre Council had already gone to visit the president of the Tower of Dusk, which made High Priest Poer increasingly certain that Rosen had sent soone to put pressure on Lin Li.
Logically speaking, High Priest Poer should have returned ho with his mind at ease, and wait for the ssenger of the Supre Council to bring Lin Li to apologize to him. However, after suffering such a huge loss, he was really eager to see Lin Li getting dealt with. Hence, he did not return, and instead headed to the embassy area with his two followers in a bid to see for himself how helpless Lin Li would be when faced with the pressure of the Supre Council. He also wanted to see Lin Li eventually submitting to pressure.
Not all Sanctuary powerhouses would be composed when faced with everything, and even gods would start a battle because of a slight agreent, let alone the Sanctuary powerhouses who were still humans. In particular, High Priest Poer and Lin Li were both Sanctuary powerhouses, and thus the forr would not give in to the latter.
High Priest Poer rushed to the embassy area with his followers, and only caught up with the ssenger of the Supre Council when they arrived. The ssenger sent by the Supre Council to the Gilded Kingdom this ti was the senior councilor Herza, who was specifically responsible for the foreign affairs of the Supre Council, accompanied by several other councilors who were all Legendary-mages.
It was not Herza’s first visit to the Gilded Kingdom; hence, High Priest Poer was not a stranger to him. As soon as they t, he smilingly said, “Councilor Herza, when I heard that the ssengers of the Supre Council had arrived, I knew that you were definitely the one in lead. Why didn’t you wait a little longer? I was about to bring soone to receive you, but I didn’t expect to miss you.”
“Oh, so it’s you, High Priest Poer. I ca here this ti for the founding celebration and also because of so internal matters that we have to discuss with President Felic of the Tower of Dusk. Hence, I ca here first when I heard that President Felic had already arrived long ago.” Although Herza was only a Legendary-mage who was still far from the Sanctuary-realm, he was now representing the Supre Council, and thus he wasn’t humble or deferential when speaking to Poer.
Hearing Herza ntion that they had internal matters to discuss, High Priest Poer was overjoyed as he reckoned that Rosen must have settled the matter that he’d entrusted him with two days ago!
In High Priest Poer’s opinion, the only matter that the Supre Council could be talking to Lin Li about at this ti had to be the matter that he had told Rosen to help him with. He thought that they were definitely going to put pressure on Lin Li. The thought of finally making that detestable punk bow down to him made High Priest Poer feel extrely excited. “However, we can’t skip the welcoming ceremony. How about this: if you don’t mind, I’ll accompany you inside first, and when you’re done with your errands, I’ll imdiately arrange a welcoming ceremony as well as a place for you to rest.”
Seeing how enthusiastic High Priest Poer was, Herza was a little confused. He had co to the Gilded Kingdom before, but he had never seen Poer so enthusiastic. However, he couldn’t reject the High Priest’s kindness, either. Thinking that there was nothing confidential about what he was going to do, Herza gave in. “Okay then, please wait a mont, High Priest Poer.”
“It’s fine, fine, let’s go in then.” High Priest Poer could no longer be bothered about anything else, and all he could think about was Lin Li bowing down to him.
Hence, under the accompanint of High Priest Poer, Herza walked into the embassy. As soon as they entered, they were greeted by the servants of the embassy who hurriedly greeted High Priest Poer without asking any other questions, because they were from the Gilded Kingdom too.
“Okay, this is the ssenger of the Supre Council, Councilor Herza. He needs to see President Felic of the Tower of Dusk for sothing, go and relay the news,” High Priest Poer said to the servants, sowhat overstepping his boundaries.
Herza knew that High Priest Poer enjoyed a high status in the Gilded Kingdom, and thus did not find that strange at all. Seeing that the servants had left to report, he took a seat casually in the hall.
