" Summoning: Cloud Moon Fox; Haruka!" Kenji’s voice reverbrated through the damp air in the mine.
Light magical sigils of energy rose from the ground, as moonlight weaved along the energy to slowly form a magic circle.
From the depths of the moonlit magic circle, Haruka imrged. Her pink cloud-like fur waving with the dissipating energy in the air, as she stared forth with her pink eyes.
" Haruka, fight!" Kenji said, his tone the epito of command, as he expected her to Imdiately leap at the bandits and begin to attack them.
But contrast to his expectations, Haruka didn’t move a muscle, nor a claw. All she did was stare onward, her eyes devoid of any motive for action.
" Haruka?" Kenji said, unsure as to what we happening. Isn’t this what she wanted, to help him out in fighting? Why isn’t she doing anything right now.
Prior to Kenji’s confusion as to why his summoned beast wasn’t doing anything, the bandits also looked on in confusion, as they were ready to face any attack. But suprisingly, there was nothing. No reaction, no attacks.
" Hey boss, I think there’s sothing wrong with that guys fox, she doesn’t seem to want to hurt us," one of the bandits said, as an observation.
Hearing the bandits words, Kenji’s cheeks flushed red in embarrassnt," Haruka? What’s wrong, why won’t you fight?!" Kenji said in annoyance. What the hell is happening right now.
" You want to fight?" Finally, she spoke, but her voice chilling unlike the usual calm and smooth voice she once had.
" You want to fight for you?! After you pushed away?! Do you think I’m so kind of item? Sothing you can throw away and get back whenever you want? What do you think of as Kenji?!" Haruka exclaid, her voice raising with every word.
" But-"
" Don’t you dare speak a word! You didn’t want to get hurt right? Well now, as you have asked off , I won’t get hurt, and that ans, I won’t fight for you!"
Her words Imdiately stung him like a needle pricking his heart. Did she just say she wouldn’t fight for him? Did she just technically broke their bond?
" Haruka, that’s not what I ant by-" before he could once again complete his sentence, she cut him off.
" You said we were friends. Not master and slave, and friends help each other. You knew you were going into a dangerous place, I said I wanted to help you! But you pushed away? You gave yourself the excuse that you wanted to protect , when truly, you wanted to prove to soone, that you could do everything on your own! Stop thinking you’re the main character!" Haruka said, every sentence, striking a chord in his heart, and making him take a step back.
" Let tell you sothing Kenji. My oath when you tad was that I was ant to help you in any dangerous situation, but then you pushed away. I don’t know what or who you’re trying to prove to that you think you have to carry all the burdens of the world on your head. But one things for sure, you’re not the main attention here. You’re not the main character!"
As she said that, the bandits began to laugh at the full on drama happening right now. They couldn’t believe that they were getting to witness a sight where a tad beast dares to retort back to it’s master. It was hilarious. It was like watching a dramatic K-drama. It imdiately let them laugh out loud!
As they laughed, Haruka turned her attention onto them," right now, your beast is fighting against my brother and he might get him hurt. I’m going to fight you, not because of Kenii, but because of Argoth, he must have gotten a few bruises on his body right now. Today, and tomorrow, I won’t fight for Kenji, I’ll for myself and Argoth, not for my master, but for my peer!"
As she said that, the cave erupted with energy!
She leapt towards the bandits with precise precision, as her moves seed to flow seamlessly like water.
The bandits Imdiately also began to attack, as they sent a flurry of blade attacks and flaming fireballs at her.
Sure Haruka’s bloodline wasn’t awakened, but she still had the speed and skills of her tribe. She knew how to stand her ground in a fight, and most importantly, she didn’t need Kenji!
Kenji watched on with a blank exppression, his emotions bubbling as to not knowing what to feel.
He had tackled a lot of business scams, survived death, evolded from the average human, cleared a dungeon all on his own, and tad a B rank monster while he was in D rank. All of that was no longer latest news, as he believed he had gone through everything.
But this...this felt....new
He hadn’t experienced sothing like this before, and so it was very troubling, as to not know how to feel.
His own summoned beast, one he took pride in as a friend, has now decided to go solo and fight alone.
* Was this how she felt? Lonely and confused? Was I really wrong?* Thoughts raced through his mind, as his eyes stared blankly at the fight.
She did not ask him as to what the plan was. She did not care to await his commands.
She went head on into the fray, as she carved her own pathof victory... without him.
* This isn’t how it’s ant to be!*
It was frustrating!
Yes!
That was the feeling. It was frustrating to know that he had been discard away like he was so weak fish.
••••
Haruka leapt forward, her pink fur blurring through the surroundings, as she slashed her gleaming silver claws at the bandits.
She dodged blades, side-stepped fists, and countered incoming fireballs. In this mont, nothing was limiting her. She didn’t care to wait for Kenji’s command, as she just went for it!
" Boss! She’s too fast, we can’t even land a single attack!" One of the bandits said, as he stepped backwards, dodging another one of Haruka’s attacks.
The boss gritted his teeth as he herd that. He couldn’t believe that a tad beast without any commands is able to fight so fiercely. This imdiately got him enraged.
" All of you! Corner her!" Said the boss , as a vein popped up by the sude of his head. This freaking fox is too fast for them to aimlessly swing their weapon, they needed a plan to strike.
His mind raced to co up with a plan, and in a few seconds, a deveious attack plan popped up in his mind.
Then, he smiled sinisterly and made a signal.
•••••
As Kenji stood there with his blank exppression and his mind filled with turmoil, he wasn’t quick to notice that.....A BALL OF FIRE WAS HEADED HIS WAY!
Boom!
The fireball hit him squarely on the back, but not an inch. Not one inch of movent ca from the impact, as it seed like it was only Kenji’s shirt that got burnt off.
He slowly turned around, rage literally foaming from his eyes, as he stared daggers at the attacker.
The attacker, who was the bandit mage looked on with total fear in his eyes. How could he have survived a fireball attack like it was nothing? There wasn’t even a scratch!
But not just the shock of Kenji surviving the attack that made him fearful. The eyes of a depraved master and a viscous friend imdiately sent him into the epito of fear.
As Kenji stared on at the mage, he slowly walked forward, causing the mage to begin to jitter, as he summoned another ball of fire.
Swooosh!
The fireball waved through the air at an incredible speed and struck Kenji hard on his chest, causing a huge explosion, with him covered in flas.
But just like before, Kenji was not hard, as he slowly walked out of the explosion with zero injuries, not even a scratch.
Now, Kenji was even more enraged, as he ran over to the mage, closing the distance between them in a second.
In one swift motion, Kenji sent a drilling punch squarely into the stomach of the mage, imdiately making the mage spit out blood, as he fell to the ground unconscious.
This was expected since he was a mage who is more versed on magic spells, and so wouldn’t take the ti to learn new spells away and train their body. And due to that, mages were known for their weak physical bodies, but strong magic spells.
* I guess it’s still better to be a mage than an unevolved Animal Tar.* Kenji thought with a slight smirk on his face, as he thanked his stars for Shreya who ca along to change him from his weak form to his new evolved form.
But as Kenji silently praised Shreya, it was unbeknownst to him that a bandit had escaped from Haruka’s speeding fray, and was rushing over with his sword to hack down Kenji into pieces.
Turning around, Kenji was imdiately alerted to the bandit who was planning on butchering him, but he was too late, as the bandit had colsed all distance and had let the blade fall.
Kenji closed his eyes imdiately, as he braced himself for the pain.
Nothing.
He felt nothing. He was expecting to feel excruciating pain course through him right now, but there was nothing.
Absolutely nothing.
And so he opened his eyes in confusion, wanting to know what had happened.
As his eyes opened up again, he was suprised to see a pink, cloud moon fox striking her claws at the bandit’s sword, breaking it in an instant.
