The shattered edges of Anbord’s barrier pulsed faintly as Ethan stood before them, his hand raised, threads of gold and silver weaving back into place. He was reinstating it. Reality itself bent to his will as fractured layers of protection folded inward, locking, sealing, and stabilizing. The sky above still churned with the aftermath of battle, but beneath his influence, order returned, piece by piece, law by law.
Jerry hovered not far behind him, watching in silence. Even now, even after everything, it was still... overwhelming. Ethan didn’t look strained. He simply... did it.
"Show off," Jerry muttered under his breath.
The barrier pulsed once more, showing Ethan’s progress when he suddenly vanished. There was no distortion, no ripple, no transition. He was just gone.
Jerry’s pupils shrank.
"What?"
His aura flared instantly, wind and chaos spiraling around him as his senses exploded outward, scanning everything, everywhere, all at once.
There was nothing. No trace, no residual, no displacent. It wasn’t teleportation. It wasn’t movent. It was as if he’d been removed.
"No..."
Jerry’s jaw tightened, unease creeping in despite himself.
"Don’t tell ..."
A faint pulse brushed against his awareness, subtle, gentle, and familiar. Jerry froze, then exhaled slowly.
"Tch. Say sothing next ti," he muttered, letting his aura settle.
It was Ethan.
It’s fine.
Jerry clicked his tongue and glanced at the half-restored barrier.
"Better co back fast. Things are getting annoying."
...
Ethan opened his eyes and found himself... elsewhere. There was no ground, no sky, no direction. Only strings, endless, and countless. They stretched in every possible direction, crossing, weaving, looping, intertwining in patterns too complex to follow. So were thin, barely visible, trembling as though they could snap at any mont. Others were thick, immovable, ancient, glowing faintly with an authority that spoke of inevitability. So were taut, so slack, so frayed, so freshly woven, so were already breaking.
They moved with purpose. Every shift, every tremor, every vibration ant sothing. Ethan stood in the middle of it all and understood.
"Fate."
His voice didn’t echo: it was absorbed and accepted. And then, he saw her, at the center of it all, where every string connected. She sat upon a throne not built, but woven. A structure of countless threads layered upon each other, forming sothing vast and far larger than her physical form, yet sohow perfectly fitted to her existence.
And she... she was...
No.
"Beautiful" was an insult.
"Infinite" was closer.
But still wrong. She was not sothing that could be described, because she was not sothing that was ant to be observed. She simply... Was.
Long silvery-white hair cascaded down her form, flowing like liquid starlight, each strand itself a thread, alive, shifting, connected to the countless lines surrounding her. Her skin was milky white, flawless, yet inscribed. Divine markings danced across it, not etched, not carved, but moving like living laws, rewriting themselves in real ti. Her eyes were deep red, not violent or warm, but knowing.
They held tilines, possibilities, endings that had yet to exist. Her clothing was no different from the throne. It was made of strings, endless, flowing strings wrapped around her form, coiling, shifting, tightening, loosening, dressing her not in fabric, but in outcos.
Her presence... It wasn’t pressure, nor aura. It was sothing far beyond that. Ethan felt it instantly. She wasn’t just powerful. She wasn’t just divine. She wasn’t even just a concept.
She was a core. A fundantal piece of existence itself, like space, like ti, and yet different, because while Ethan felt like sothing that stood apart from the universe... She felt like sothing that was woven into it deeply and irremovably.
Ethan didn’t bow or kneel. He didn’t flinch, but his gaze sharpened, recognition settling in instantly.
"So it’s you."
Her lips curved into a smile that wasn’t soft. It wasn’t kind, but... certain.
"We finally et..."
Her voice didn’t travel. It appeared directly within everything.
"My Beloved."
Silence followed, filled with sothing unspoken. Ethan studied her not as a man would look at a woman, but as sothing equal observing sothing equal.
"You’ve been watching," he said.
"Always," she replied softly.
A single string shifted near her fingers.
Then another, then thousands.
"I have seen your beginning."
Her gaze deepened.
"Your struggle."
A faint tilt of her head.
"Your defiance."
A pause.
"Your ascension."
Ethan’s eyes flickered faintly.
"And you intervened."
A statent.
Her smile widened slightly.
"I guided."
A thread coiled gently around her finger.
"I nudged."
Another tightened.
"I ensured."
Her eyes locked onto his.
"That you would reach ."
The space around them stilled. Ethan took a step forward, and the strings parted for him.
"Why?" he asked, simple and direct. Her gaze softened slightly.
"Because you are not like the others."
A thread snapped sowhere far away, and another was woven instantly in its place.
"You were never ant to follow."
Her voice lowered.
"You were ant to... begin."
Ethan’s presence shifted subtly.
Origin stirred within him.
"Origin," she said, her tone almost... pleased.
"Yes..."
Her fingers brushed lightly against a cluster of threads.
"They all lead sowhere."
She looked at him again.
"But you..."
A faint, knowing smile.
"You create where there was nothing to lead to."
Silence.
"You intrigue ." It was not admiration or affection, but sothing far more dangerous.
Interest.
Ethan exhaled slowly.
"You pulled here."
"Yes."
"Not just to talk."
"No."
A pause.
Her gaze sharpened, and for the first ti, the strings reacted. All of them trembling, shifting, and tightening as if sothing massive was approaching from beyond even this place.
"He’s coming," she said.
Ethan’s eyes didn’t waver.
"I know."
Her smile returned wider this ti, almost amused.
"Good."
The strings around her began to glow faintly.
"One erases origins."
Her head tilted slightly.
"The other..."
A soft chuckle.
"Clings to them."
Her eyes burned brighter.
"Let’s see which of you breaks first."
And sowhere, far beyond strings, beyond space, beyond even the laws that governed existence, a Dragon Emperor stepped through reality itself.
And Fate watched.
