Chapter 962: Chapter 447 Yogurt for Tomato

On those dining tables, it seed as though there were so food remnants left, but upon closer inspection, the remnants appeared to squirm and twist, like snake at still twitching from nerve signals after its head had been removed and its skin stripped.

In so remaining, soup-like residue floated green fuzz, the overall color appearing a murky gray, with black flotsam on the surface, as if sothing was rotting inside.

At the end of the cafeteria, the always tightly shut dining window had been opened, left ajar there.

Through that door, more bizarre scenes seed visible, akin to the underworld, with ghostly green lights, dark red viscous liquid streaming on the floor, chunks of at writhing and crawling, and occasionally the clinking sound of iron chains in the wind…

Within the thick and sticky darkness, it seed as if sothing was struggling desperately, trying to break free.

Lin Yi stood in the middle of the cafeteria, feeling as if countless eyes were watching him in the dark, all the units in line in the shadows were staring at him, yet when he glanced around, they seed as though they had never moved, rigidly maintaining their queues.

A large number of units queued in the unlit areas, with only a few people in the illuminated spots, their heads down, speechless, simply following the queue, hoping to get their al sooner.

A sense of fear emanated from these people, and Lin Yi knew that these were the “original flavor” experience students, the easily consumable material within the campus—the university life (participants).

When he lined up, no one queued after him. It seed like his line was intercepted, and all the students entering the student cafeteria queued at the “only” dining window—the 4th window.

He realized this but did not intervene, instead bravely observing everything in the cafeteria, noting the various changes occurring now.

To him, this student cafeteria held new changes every ti he visited.

He cast his gaze towards the unoccupied dark area, which was explicitly forbidden by the Dining Hall Rules, an area where, during his last observation, he felt a strong sense of asphyxiation.

Now, with his determination and physical state having improved thoroughly, he felt he could try observing the area again.

Of course, the only issue was that he was alone now; if he made a mistake, there would be no one to back him up.

Thus, he could observe but had to stop at a certain point.

He carefully released his perception, the invisible ripples spreading out like waves, extending towards the dark area.

“Howl…”

As his perceptive tendrils probed into the shadowy area, a hollow and eerie howling sound appeared in his mind…

The next mont, a faint dizziness rose up in his heart.

His step faltered slightly, but it didn’t cause him much trouble.

His body continued moving forward silently with the dining queue.

“Lin Yi…”

“Lin Yi…”

“Co to …”

In the darkness, his perception caught intermittent ethereal whispers. The voice was indistinct, neither male nor female, like a mix of both, reminiscent of the Black Mountain Old Demon’s voice from A Chinese Ghost Story.

Even so, the voice exuded a strongly enticing allure, like an invisible hand grasping Lin Yi’s perceptive tendrils, gently pulling his perception deeper into the dark abyss…

“Howl…”

“Howl…”

The ethereal sound echoed in the dark, like the wind twisting in a tunnel or the snow drifting down a passage, chilly and haunting.

Suddenly, a dim light cast into the dark abyss, adding a splash of color.

Lin Yi keenly detected so traces of the abyss.

In a split-second, he saw so mottled, ancient cyan bricks, huge yellow-brown blocks, so damp inner walls overgrown with moss, the faint sound of flowing water, and even… the sound of waves.

“Crash…”

“Crash…”

“Crash…”

It was the sound of waves lapping against the stone walls.

And… those intermittent calls.

“Lin Yi…”

“Co to …”

“Here…”

“Co… co…”

Endless whispers crawled from the abyss, swirling like demonic incantations above his head, lingering by his ears.

A sense of weightlessness crept into his heart, as if he were about to fall into the dark abyss.

But Lin Yi, now a different man, held his forehead and gave a light shake of his head, withdrawing his will and dispelling the weightlessness’s shackles.

The endless darkness continued to stretch behind him, like tendrils from the void trying to seize his body, but he ignored them, using the simple act of continuing with the dining queue to shake them off entirely.

Like a receding tide, the darkness swiftly stopped entangling Lin Yi, and a thought crossed his mind.
