Chapter 871: Chapter 403: The Note from the Dream Study Sector Part 2

“What’s written on the paper?” Just as he was about to set off, the female dormitory manager curiously leaned over.

Lin Yi pursed his lips: “The paper says the Collection Area has plenty of large-scale art pieces.”

The female dormitory manager’s eyes lit up: “Does it say how large the scale is?”

“The mont this topic cos up, you’re really full of energy, huh?” Lin Yi couldn’t help but rub his forehead, as if he saw a female version of Wei Liang.

“Judging by the wording, they appear to be quite… ‘explicit.’ If you’re interested, you can check them out.”

Many tis, he felt that the female dormitory manager’s physical desires didn’t seem to be sothing she was pretending.

“Not interested.” The female dormitory manager, who was just excited a mont ago, turned her head and refused outright. “The security guard will be here soon anyway. I don’t have ti to waste.”

“Oh, you even know about that? You’re not here for the first ti, are you? Seems like you’ve got quite the experience?” Lin Yi probed.

The female dormitory manager shook her head and replied, “Nope, not at all… Why? First-tirs can’t have instincts?”

“Fine, fine, you’re impressive.” Lin Yi didn’t press further. He even suspected this female manager wasn’t visiting the campus for the first ti. From her countless actions, apart from initially giving him a “newbie” impression, now her every move radiated a kind of “Second Brusher War God” aura.

This female dormitory manager was very likely soone hiding her true self deeply, with superb acting skills—a seasoned Second Brusher—or, at the very least, soone who had entered other places similar to University S.

That feeling… How to put it… He had this sense that the female dormitory manager likely had so ultimate skill of sorts.

A re old coal oil lamp definitely couldn’t give her that much confidence.

Moreover, judging by the zealot’s words, it seed the old coal oil lamp in the dormitory manager’s hands was different from the ones held by the security guards. Perhaps it was even slightly weaker in “performance.”

Clearing his thoughts, he wandered casually through the Dream Studies Sector, occasionally scanning so scraps of paper.

“There are voices calling from the end of the corridor… But that corridor doesn’t have an end… That door… you can’t reach…”

“Don’t trust the administrator’s words…”

“The curator is eating people on the eighth floor…”

“I want tomato at sauce spaghetti…”

“Careful… There’s soone above your head…”

“Chains… Nothing but chains…”

“Snakes… So many snakes…”

“Help …”

After scanning several scraps of paper, Lin Yi frowned. The information contained in these little notes wasn’t entirely useless, but they were impossibly fragnted, talking about all sorts of things… making it impossible to piece any coherent narrative together.

He shook his head in mild resignation, but it made sense—considering his current level of cognition, how could he possibly be contaminated by re scraps of paper?

He resud his journey, leisurely wandering through the Dream Studies Sector, his eyes constantly scanning the bookshelves.

The books on the shelves seed to have increasingly incomprehensible characters on their spines. So books didn’t even look like they contained Chinese text, yet as he strode among them, he didn’t seem to perceive anything particularly unusual…

Following Lin Yi, the female dormitory manager suddenly noticed Lin Yi had stopped before a certain bookshelf, holding a seemingly paused movent, with a hazy mist arising from his body, as if his figure were wavering…

“This…?!” The female dormitory manager’s jaw dropped in shock. “Could this be… ‘Dream Building’?!”

Thrilled and astonished, Dream Building was sothing she had only ever studied in textbooks—now she was witnessing it happen right before her!

She hurriedly quickened her pace toward him, but barely two steps in, she saw the familiar bookshelves starting to warp, while the ground beneath her feet began exhibiting bizarre shifts.

She was overco by an unspeakable and overwhelming sense of dread, as if every step forward would cost her life!

“This, is this a Dream Builder’s Domain…?!”

She was stunned, holding both shock and a faint tinge of joy on her face.

She grasped the old coal oil lamp tightly, attempting to approach Lin Yi under the lamp’s protective glow.

She succeeded—the muddy quagmire-like “domain” that had trapped her steps seed slightly weakened under the coal oil lamp’s radiance.

But just then, she noticed the hazy mist floating around Lin Yi’s body shifting ever so slightly, and within the mist, a phantom-like figure erged.

It was a slender, stick-like silhouette, its contours incredibly faint, its face shrouded in utter obscurity; yet amidst all this indistinct light and shadow, an ominous gaze seed to pierce through the layers and land upon the female dormitory manager—instantly causing her body to tense up, sweat cascading uncontrollably.

「Gulp…」

She swallowed hard, her eyes filled with fear and unease, before she slowly backed away, not daring to inch closer to the current state of Lin Yi.

anwhile, Lin Yi himself remained entirely unaware of the abnormality—he hadn’t even realized his “body” had halted.

In his cognition, he was still wandering the Dream Studies Sector.

He was completely oblivious to the strangeness around him; his thoughts were as clear as day—clear, just like the undisrupted clarity he’d felt on May 6th in the evening, when he mistakenly believed himself unaffected by anything.

Gradually, he seed to catch wind of an indescribable scent—subtle and concealed within the air, drifting from an unknown source. It was a faint and peculiar fragrance—yet akin to a haunting, lingering sll, like an elusive stench of foot odor.

From the mont he sensed this scent, it seed intent on subtly invading his nostrils.

He ca to a halt.

The “Library Rules” stated: [On any floor, if you notice changes in your surroundings while moving—such as dimming light, abnormal sounds like wind or fog—imdiately cease all activities and observe if the situation persists. If the anomaly ceases, you may resu. Should the phenonon worsen, retrace your steps imdiately.]

“I can’t go forward anymore.”

He clearly recognized the issue at hand; yet unbeknownst to him, his consciousness had already departed from his body, advancing far ahead without his knowledge.

As if sensing his intent in reverse, the sound of pages turning began to echo softly around him.

「Rustle rustle rustle…」

The sound of flipping pages continued, like the wind rifling through a thick, heavy book—the yellowed sheets producing a noise akin to surging waves.

He intended to retreat, but suddenly, countless shelves seed to gain sentience, rearranging themselves…

He quickly grasped the situation—this wasn’t the bookshelves moving; it was the floor beneath shifting.

The labyrinthine, nested doll-like library floors began to reconfigure themselves!

Without his interference, without requiring any action on his part—the moving library floors aligned the voids within them, ultimately forming a deep, shadowed corridor silently unfolding before his eyes!

He did not approach the mountain; the mountain approached him!

His gaze pierced through countless layers of library space, landing upon a bookshelf within the mysterious corridor that held a book shrouded in grey mist and erald light.

The book’s spine seed inscribed with strange symbols, completely incomprehensible to him; yet before his eyes, those symbols writhed and shifted, eventually morphing into recognizably readable text:

“Lawmaker’s Words”

Upon glimpsing the book, Lin Yi suddenly felt an itch on his left hand. Unbidden, his arm lifted, five fingers flexing as though controlled by individual wills—cracking like the joints of marionette fingers. No matter the twisting rhythm, they all converged ultimately to point at the “Lawmaker’s Words.”

At the sa ti, fragnted notes began to echo in the air—twinkling and ominous, familiar enough to unnerve him.

It was the sound of “Amon’s Music Box.”

As expected, with the music box’s lody unfolding, a sinister nursery rhy whispered in his ears…

[Dear child, play hide-and-seek~ One and two, scurry away and peek…]

[This little yard is perfect for play~ Sister and brother, tucked away…]

[Dig and turn, find and churn…]
