“Rustle, rustle, rustle…”
As the “scene change” completed, Lin Yi’s senses gradually ca back, swiftly adapting to his surroundings, while the intermittent conversations nearby drew his attention imdiately.
“Stay calm, Wei Sang,”
Lin Yi was startled, “Is that…
Young Master Tian’s voice?!
Why would Young Master Tian be speaking with Wei Sang?”
He imdiately looked in the direction of the sound and saw two figures not far from the “Library-102” lamppost, they were Tian Bufan and Wei Shan.
At the mont, Wei Shan’s brows were tightly knit, his breathing slightly heavy as if he was a lit gas canister, exhaling a “hiss” from his nostrils.
Tian Bufan, on the other hand, was placating him with a hand on his shoulder.
Wei Shan was a tall and burly, slightly overweight man, but still looked sowhat lacking in presence compared to the strong 1.9-ter-tall Tian Bufan.
“Sothing’s not right here, Young Master Tian, we’d best leave quickly,” Wei Shan ground out, his voice low.
“I know, otherwise I wouldn’t have asked you to co with .
Hang in there a little longer, we’ll be done soon,” Tian Bufan said calmly, then slowly headed towards the “Library-102” lamppost.
Lin Yi suddenly realized sothing and quickly surveyed the environnt around him.
Beneath the feet of Tian Bufan and Wei Shan was a cobblestone path, flanked by nurous randomly placed lampposts, winding and twisting out of sight around a nearby corner.
Just beyond the cobblestone path was moist, deep soil covered in thick dead leaves, extending to a slope dotted with sparse shrubs and camphor trees.
The further up the slope you went, the denser the vegetation beca, until who knows where, it was connected to the lush Green Forest Belt.
The Green Forest Belt’s trees were also quite distinctive, with ordinary evergreens on the outermost layer becoming taller trees inward, towering and leaved, giving a sense of blocking out the sky as one looked up, the canopy so thick that even light couldn’t penetrate this barrier composed of leaves.
Lin Yi could only see as far as the tall trees, and even then, it was with so difficulty.
The Green Forest Belt was shrouded in a persistent thick mist, as if it demarcated the deep mountains from another world.
The mountain breeze blew, the leaves rustled, and between surges of mist, the shadows of the Phalanx of sculptures eerily appeared.
Lin Yi turned to look at the other side of the Green Forest Belt, but on this side…
there was only the “Library-102” lamppost.
It wasn’t that there was nothing beyond it, rather, beyond the “Library-102” lamppost, there was a slightly inclined hillside sparsely planted with various flora.
Just a bit further and one would reach Building C of the Teaching Building.
Standing in front of the “Library-102” lamppost, Lin Yi felt as if he could urinate into the wind and a few drops would land on the wall of Building C of the Teaching Building.
He then glanced at the sky, where the street lights were yet to be lit, and the sky grew dim, the evening glow reddened the sky in the west, and the sun’s outline was partially obscured by the mountain peaks.
“Young Master Tian said he would be back at the Teaching Building around 16:30, so he and Wei Shan must have gone for a al as soon as they t, and after eating…
they ca here?”
Wei Shan really was sothing, having lost a shoe in the morning he had powerfully strutted around in one shoe all day.
But as he looked back at Wei Shan his subconscious suddenly experienced a chill of terror, at first unsure of the reason, until a breeze blew through the trees, stirring the ashen mist to reveal the Human Sculptures within the Green Forest Belt.
Lin Yi’s gaze imdiately fell on the Human Sculpture Phalanx directly behind Wei Shan within the Green Forest Belt, and saw that a few Human Sculptures had broken away from their formation, drawing closer to Wei Shan!
“What the…?!” Lin Yi was horrified, only now understanding where that chilling sensation had co from!
These Human Sculptures were not purely static; they could even move Under the Sun, only…
their speed was incredibly slow.
Wei Shan, as if sensing sothing, kept casting vigilant glances around him.
Yet every ti his gaze fell on the Green Forest Belt, the Human Sculptures would co to a complete halt, and just as conveniently, the mist would “coincidentally” obscure the view, resulting in him seeing nothing in the end.
“Stay a bit more calm, they can’t co over,” Tian Bufan patiently observed the area planted with disheveled vegetation between the “Library-102” lamppost and Building C of the Teaching Building, his brows knitting tighter.
Wei Shan breathed heavily, his voice low, “If it weren’t for Old Lin insisting not to, I definitely would have brought my baseball bat!”
“Old Lin is also thinking of safety,” Tian Bufan reassured patiently.
“I understand, but it still bothers ,” Wei Shan said, his fists tightening.
Lin Yi was utterly confused: “When did I tell Wei Shan not to bring a baseball bat?
Why don’t I rember anything about it?”
“Speaking of which, Wei Shan had ntioned not bringing a baseball bat when he first arrived at school, but I don’t recall him ever having a baseball bat.
Strange…”
Wei Shan had no interest in sports at their school, let alone owning a baseball bat, they didn’t even have a baseball; truly odd…
“Don’t think too much about it,” Tian Bufan suddenly spoke up, startling Lin Yi, who thought he was addressing him.
