Chapter 1288: Chapter 610: Farewells Are Always Uneventful

Lin Yi joked, “Senior Sister Xia Lian, if you were kidnapped by Wei Liang, you could blink.”

“Hey, alright, alright, what are you talking about kidnapping? I just saw you about to leave, so I specially ca to say goodbye.” Wei Liang beca a bit more serious, “I actually don’t have much to say, but if you ever run into trouble, rember to ntion my na!”

Lin Yi was startled, then felt a warmth in his heart, “Got it!”

“That’s good, just wanted to remind you of that. Oh, and rember to tell Teacher Lin that I won’t be going back for now.”

“Okay.”

Lin Yi said this, but he felt like he was forgetting sothing. Shifting his gaze from Wei Liang and Xia Lian to Boss and Li Huiyuan, he thought for a mont but couldn’t figure it out. So, he called Wei Shan along and stepped into the night.

Watching Lin Yi and Wei Shan disappear under the streetlights, Li Huiyuan suddenly realized sothing and looked at Boss, saying, “Boss, is it just my imagination, or did you just seem a lot gentler?”

Boss slightly lowered her eyelids, and a few gentle glimrs floated in her usually cool eyes, “Because… this might be the last ti we see him.”

Li Huiyuan was taken aback, “What do you an, Boss?”

She realized right after saying it that Lin Yi had been in school for six days, and the next gym class was on the eighth day.

But Lin Yi wouldn’t wait until the eighth day.

And Li Huiyuan was only an initial-stage Sports Student, needing to be a second-order Sports Student to leave the campus.

Which ant Boss was right, this might be the last ti she saw Lin Yi.

Thinking of this, a wave of heartache suddenly surged within Li Huiyuan, and she even had the impulse to rush into the darkness to find Lin Yi right now.

But Boss gently patted her shoulder and consoled, “That swimming pool, I had him soak in it for a long ti.”

“So things, others can’t absorb, but you can. When you’re free, you can soak in there more often, as it’s the last thing he left for you.”

Li Huiyuan felt increasingly uncomfortable but could still hold it together, “Then… when I beco a second-order Sports Student, I can go out and find him, right?”

Boss remained silent.

Li Huiyuan quickly shook Boss’s arm, pleading, “Boss, don’t stop ! I need to find Lin Yi, I must find Lin Yi!”

Boss let out a quiet sigh, “Why would I stop you from leaving the campus? Second-order sports students have the freedom to leave. I’m just worried that even if you leave the campus, you won’t find him…”

“If he dares to hide from , I’ll definitely stomp his head in the mud!” Li Huiyuan, looking adorably fierce, waved her little fists.

Boss knew well that the greater the hope, the greater the disappointnt, so she early on gave Li Huiyuan a heads-up, “Lin Yi… most likely, is not of this world. His body, his will, doesn’t seem to be from the outside, more like a Lost Soul, a Mourner, a paradox-wrapped… Phantom.”

Boss slowly turned and walked back to the gymnasium, her cool voice echoing with a tone as if an ancient lody lingered in the night:

“In the Abyss of fog and shadow, Lost Souls seek Phantoms… ”

As she walked, she suddenly thought of sothing, turned, and glanced at Wei Liang, “You are the ‘Fortune Life Wei Liang the Celestial’ Lin Yi ntioned, aren’t you?”

Wei Liang bowed his head low, rubbing his hands, approaching like a little servant, “Hehehe… Boss, you’re forgetful. That day you even asked Little Zhouzi to bring shoes, rember?”

Boss was montarily stunned. When Wei Liang ntioned it, she inexplicably recalled the incident, but prior to that, she instinctively avoided it.

“Just as well… I have sothing to ask you. Xia Lian, go take care of Huihuizi.”

With that, she led Wei Liang into the gymnasium.

Xia Lian quickly moved towards the gymnasium entrance.

At the doorway of the gymnasium, Li Huiyuan was still there, Boss’s words echoing in her mind, her chest feeling increasingly blocked, her nose ever more sore, and then she collapsed to the ground at the gym entrance, bursting into tears.

In the darkness, a slight ripple appeared, just as Li Huiyuan cried, a short Angry Angel Sculpture crashed to the front of the gymnasium, staring directly at Li Huiyuan.

In the next mont, the Angry Angel raised its long staff and brought it down on the unguarded Li Huiyuan’s head.

At this mont, Xia Lian had not yet reached the gym entrance. Upon seeing this scene, she instantly ignited with deep blue flas, swiftly crossing the distance like a Phantom.

“Boom!”

Just as the staff was about to strike Li Huiyuan, she suddenly raised her arm without warning, grabbing the staff just before Xia Lian reached her in a flash.

Xia Lian abruptly halted, staring in shock at the current state of Li Huiyuan.

Li Huiyuan, sobbing, slowly stood up. The Angry Angel tried to pull the staff away but couldn’t move it at all.

“Why do you disturb when I’m sad… scoundrel!!”

Her eyes shimred with a haunting golden light, and she surprisingly pulled the Angry Angel over with the staff, punching right through its chest.

Ashes surged, transforming into sky-blue flas, burning the Angry Angel into a clay figurine.

Li Huiyuan smashed the Angry Angel into pieces, and the tidal wave of hostility on her face collapsed, and she cried out Lin Yi’s na a couple of tis before sorrowfully turning to the shocked Xia Lian whose jaw was almost dropping, saying, “Senior Sister Xia Lian… let’s go back…”

Saying that, she sniffled twice.

Xia Lian, dumbfounded, contemplated why the earlier seemingly psychotic state looked so unpredictable… and extrely dangerous?

May 11, 2023, 17:56, on the cobblestone path of the gymnasium area.

Wei Shan, holding an old kerosene lamp, slowly advanced. In the gymnasium, the old kerosene lamp looked incredibly dim, yet in the darkness, it unfolded a warm sanctuary.

Wei Shan, holding the old kerosene lamp, cast a shadow magnified by the light, looking like a Security Guard.

After walking for a while, the two arrived at the “Gymnasium-009” lamppost.

Under the darkness, the lamppost numbers were still in disarray.

Lin Yi suddenly smacked his forehead, “Oh! I rember!”

“What’s up, Old Lin?” Wei Shan was startled by Lin Yi, quickly asked.

Lin Yi sighed in so frustration, “I suddenly rembered, I didn’t properly say goodbye to Boss earlier!”

“This was my last PE class, and since Boss doesn’t leave the gym area, does that an I might not have another chance to see Boss?”

“Shouldn’t I have properly said goodbye to Boss? Maybe I should’ve shalessly given Boss a hug?”

“Ah… Boss must have already realized this, that’s why she waved goodbye so gently.”

Wei Shan listened to Lin Yi’s words and suddenly said, “Old Lin, that’s often how it is, we don’t get the chance to deliberately say farewell.”

Lin Yi, hearing this, was suddenly stunned. He didn’t expect soone like Wei Shan to speak such heartfelt words.

Is that how farewells are?

Like on a day you turned off the children’s channel, never to turn it on again.

So mundane.

But… it always leaves a hint of regret.

“Ah!” Lin Yi lightly shook his head, “Liangzi should have reminded better about this!”

Just then, at 18:00, all the streetlights in the campus simultaneously lit up.

Under the inky night, scattered lights seed like stars falling into the campus.

Lin Yi paused as if realizing sothing.

Lin Yi stroked the lamppost, suddenly revealing a smile, “Wei Sang, I just thought of sothing fun.”
