Chapter 1238: Chapter 585: Kun’s Hypothesis (Part 2)
That’s right, everything in the “Classic of Mountains and Seas” is real. What other bizarre things can’t be understood?
“You seem to have gone through a brainstorm, Snake Pattern Bear, did you pick up sothing from the void again?” Class Teacher-040 asked mockingly.
Lin Yi pouted, “No, I just feel that my personal understanding of the campus might have deepened a bit.”
“Then tell quickly!” Class Teacher-040’s eyes lit up upon hearing this. She pulled over a chair and sat down, her long, slender, straight black silk legs crossing in front of Lin Yi’s eyes, forming the image of a high-cold female corporate executive listening to a subordinate’s business report.
Lin Yi pursed his lips, “It’s like you said… I originally thought that the campus’s distortion during the Grey Mist Invasion was without pattern. Now it seems, perhaps they possess so kind of inherent pattern, belonging to a forward and reverse extension change, only we weren’t aware.”
Just like those people in “Three-Body”, recovering when exposed to water, drying up when dehydrated.
“Perhaps the buildings on campus aren’t truly what we see. The original builders might have pulled portions of these structures from layers into reality, then constructed the school!”
“That’s why cognitive anchors are needed to stabilize the campus. Once the cognitive anchors collapse, the campus will be dragged from a singular building into the layer, eventually pulling the entire campus into the layer.”
Lin Yi was explaining while also pondering. In this case, he sowhat understood the layering architecture over by the Gymnasium. The initial architect might have pulled up part of so mysterious creature or other unknown entity from the layer and constructed it into “The City Wall.”
However, “The City Wall” itself doesn’t actually exist within the campus. The architect pulled “The City Wall” into reality, reconstructed it, turning it into today’s Gymnasium.
In other words, perhaps the buildings on campus might have different levels of construction on different layer levels.
Analyzing buildings, is it like peeling a bamboo shoot or an onion?
Class Teacher-040 furrowed her brows, “In the knowledge I learned, it doesn’t involve these speculations of yours…”
“Perhaps that’s what a cognitive anchor is?” Lin Yi countered, “Ignorance is the best protection. Those might be things only an architect needs to know, not the horoom teacher.”
“That’s the only way to explain it.” Class Teacher-040 stated. Before entering the campus, they had already mastered necessary knowledge; anything beyond the syllabus was naturally “unnecessary to know”, or “cannot be taught.”
“Do you have any other plans?” Class Teacher-040 asked.
“Just rest a bit, then go to PE class,” Lin Yi replied truthfully.
“Oh.” Class Teacher-040 nodded slightly, “Then you can go rest.”
Not being pretentious, Lin Yi said goodbye to Class Teacher-040 and left the Teacher’s Office.
Upon leaving, intending to return to the classroom, he suddenly thought of sothing, first checking the ti on his watch before turning towards the bathroom.
The current ti was 13:33. Although it seed like only a few words were exchanged in the Teacher’s Office, half an hour had actually passed.
As he passed the classroom of Group B, Class 1, he suddenly felt an itch, contemplating whether to try and pry—no, open—the door…
After hesitating for a few seconds, he decided not to wait and reached out for the doorknob of Group B, Class 1.
At the mont he grasped the doorknob, his perception captured a series of ripples. It was as if he saw the “door’s” structure, the layer-level door; between the door leaf and the door fra were countless interlocking teeth. As his supernatural power seeped in, those teeth began accompanying the sound of “klik, klik, klik…” before slowly loosening…
“This sound!” A gleam flashed in Lin Yi’s eyes, “When the ‘Primordial Ash Apostle’ opened the door, it made this sound!”
He was puzzled back then—why did Class Teacher-039 turn the lock three tis when locking the door, yet when the “Primordial Ash Apostle” opened it, it turned the bolt seven or eight tis or even more!
“Huh… no, wait a mont!”
Lin Yi paused because he suddenly realized that his current actions were no different from what the “Primordial Ash Apostle” had done!
The only difference was simply at a different point in ti!
As the last portion of the “teeth” loosened, the doorknob also slackened.
He gently exerted force, pushing down the doorknob.
Now, he could clearly feel that the gap on the other side of the door had opened. A little more force, and he could push the door open.
But he didn’t. Instead, he retracted his strength silently, causing the door leaf to close again.
He released the doorknob and clearly noticed that once the door closed, those countless teeth interlocked once more.
“Seems like each ti requires breaking those ‘teeth’ again…” Lin Yi silently withdrew his gaze, observed his surroundings, and realized that no one noticed him. He continued towards the bathroom.
Just after he walked a few steps away, the door was suddenly opened from the inside.
The door pushed open, and soone poked out half of their body.
Lin Yi sensed the movent behind him and turned his head, seeing the person erging from the door.
“Huh?” Lin Yi showed a hint of surprise. The person in front of him was one of those he had crossed paths with in the morning.
If Lin Yi wasn’t mistaken, this person was either nad Chen Yu or Zhao Lei…
Seeing Lin Yi, Chen Yu also paused, then asked, “Uh, Classmate Lin, were you just passing by?”
He had overheard conversations from Tian Bufan and others, knowing Lin Yi was called “Old Lin.”
Lin Yi nodded, “Yeah.”
“May I ask, did you see anything at the door just now?” Chen Yu asked.
Lin Yi was slightly startled. He realized it was his actions that had attracted the other.
He then looked puzzled, “I didn’t see anything… Is sothing wrong?”
Hearing this, Chen Yu shook his head, “Oh, nothing… Sorry to bother you.”
With that, he pulled the door shut.
Throughout the process, he never suspected that Lin Yi had touched the doorknob because, in his established cognition, soone not from the sa class wouldn’t be able to open the door.
He had ruled Lin Yi out right away.
Lin Yi naturally wouldn’t admit to anything, so he nonchalantly turned and continued his way to the bathroom.
The corridor of the Teaching Building, if one continues forward, leads to the Corridor Bridge connecting Buildings A and C. A little to the side of this is the stairwell, while the corner in the opposite direction houses the elevator section.
Next to the elevator is the bathroom, separated by just a wall, with the elevator located on the side where light is scarce. In this environnt, it appeared even more eerie, like a lair where monsters dwelled.
Lin Yi casually glanced at the stairwell. His visual field silently opened, his perception tendrils following his gaze to infiltrate it, easily seeing nurous Purebred Nightwalkers entrenched there.
As his cognition deepened, Lin Yi could increasingly perceive the mysteries of the campus. Now, upon seeing the Purebred Nightwalkers, he could discern that these dirty things weren’t just as simple as lingering in the shadows of floors.
Parts of their shells could perate the layers, “flowing” into the folds of the walls in a liquid manner, likened to deford, irregular plugs inserted into the walls.
When they sensed attention being directed at them, the Purebred Nightwalkers quivered individually, like terrified kittens huddling tighter, casting a trembling Void Target Search filled with fear towards Lin Yi.
Lin Yi calmly withdrew his gaze, rely wanting to observe the Purebred Nightwalkers for now.
There wasn’t even a thought of taking action to clean them up.
Looking at them, Lin Yi felt akin to observing dandelions growing by the roadside, not bothering to engage unless blown into his face by the wind.
