Chapter 1054: Chapter 493: Observing the Deceitful Angel Sculpture Corpse_2

On its face was an unmistakable bizarre smile, radiating a strong cult-like aura.

It had no eyebrows, and tear-like marks were condensed on the brow bone, with crescent-shaped cracks snaking towards the temple. In the instant the light shifted, a white glow flashed through the cracks, resembling snail trails or strange secret marks.

Strangely, Lin Yi discovered that the moss on the corpse of the Deceitful Angel Sculpture had left traces.

“Huh?”

It’s not that weird, actually, it’s not strange. Almost all the sculptures on campus have more or less moss stains.

But, saying it’s strange is indeed strange, because the Deceitful Angel Sculpture is unlike ordinary sculptures. It is inherently illusory, only becoming tangible at certain tis. By logic, even if it is a sculpture, it shouldn’t have moss on it.

Lin Yi puzzled over it for quite a while and couldn’t figure it out. The only hypothesis he could co up with was that the sculpted form of the Deceitful Angel might differ from his conjecture, that its entry from the layers into reality might not be simply a matter of becoming tangible.

His attention shifted to the wings of the Deceitful Angel…

Though the Deceitful Angel’s wings looked like a large stone, they could be divided into many layers. The feathers were solidified into different shapes, the outer feathers as straight as swords, while the inner ones curled like the arc of a baby’s palm…

But when he looked at those inner feathers, he noticed so faint line marks, resembling a closed eye.

Suddenly, he recalled that the Deceitful Angel’s wings were akin to clusters of large eyeballs, but in the cognition of others, they were just wings.

As he re-established this cognition, the wings of the Deceitful Angel began to exhibit another form of lines, with the original feather shapes starting to transform into big eyeball forms in a creeping manner.

Even though he knew in his heart it was a corpse, the appearance of large eyeballs still made Lin Yi’s hairs stand on end—not out of fear, but because his trypophobia was triggered.

He shook his head lightly, and the large eyeballs vanished, the wings reverting to a feather-like form.

Suddenly, Lin Yi noticed that the exposed interior of the cracks on the corpse revealed so peculiar texture, with tiny quartz-like particles flickering in the crevices, floating in ripples whenever the light bent slightly.

In a daze, Lin Yi sensed so abnormal fluctuations from the corpse of the Deceitful Angel Sculpture, like so strange aura that wouldn’t disperse, as if seeping through from layers or dinsions with lingering dynamic residue…

Lin Yi didn’t notice that as he stared at the corpse of the Deceitful Angel, the surrounding atmosphere seed to stagnate, the straight bookshelves losing their original orderly appearance, engulfing the entire space into a vortex…

The corpse of the Deceitful Angel Sculpture suddenly began to tremble slightly, its originally solidified form unexpectedly quivering slightly at the tip of a broken wing, while the skirt folds of the moss seed to revert to the shape when blown by the wind at a previous mont.

Its bluish-grey fingertips retained so tiny debris, like cetery soil chipped away from a certain position over the ages…

Lin Yi was completely oblivious to the abnormality exhibited by the corpse of the Deceitful Angel Sculpture, with his attention entirely imrsed in observing its form.

With his insight, the snail-like trails on the corpse of the Deceitful Angel Sculpture beca increasingly noticeable, and compared to that, the original bluish-grey stony surface was almost insignificant, the entire sculpture seeming like a pile of stones firmly glued together by those secret marks.

“Is the sculpture just a facade misleading the cognition, and the secret mark is the true form of the Deceitful Angel?!

“Could it be that the Deceitful Angel is a derivative product of so secret mark? Isn’t it the will of the Dream Builder continually sinking in the layers, eventually becoming deford?”

Lin Yi increasingly felt that the origin of the Deceitful Angel might not be simple, or perhaps… the frawork-like secret marks forming the Deceitful Angel were actually problematic.

Lin Yi constantly pondered the secrets of the Deceitful Angel, his eyes widening like copper bells, his lips involuntarily curling into a slight arc he hadn’t noticed…

In that faintly distorted world, he occasionally beca overjoyed by small discoveries, like an old scholar witnessing sothing new…

Not far away, Lu Zhao suddenly paused on the steps, terrified to find that at this mont, Lin Yi’s face was almost pressed against the corpse of the Deceitful Angel Sculpture.

Lin Yi was sticking close to the secret marks on the corpse of the Deceitful Angel Sculpture while gently touching its shell with his hand, like an enthusiastic scholar studying a newly unearthed mysterious stone slab…

That extre rational yet frenzied deanor left Lu Zhao and Chen Xue trembling.

“Old Lu… he…” Chen Xue found it hard to believe that Lin Yi, who seed perfectly normal during the communication a mont before, could turn into such a deranged, mad scientist-like person in just a few minutes.

Lu Zhao shook his head slightly, looking serious: “The layers around him are already distorting… What we see is only what we perceive, the real situation might be fundantally different from what we ‘see’…”

“I sense an invisible field, is it possible the Deceitful Angel isn’t dead?!” Fear began to expand in Chen Xue’s heart.

“Unknown, yet when I probed earlier, I certainly couldn’t sense its ‘living’ breath…” Lu Zhao’s face darkened, a living Deceitful Angel could easily turn the pseudo-human students in the classroom into “Mist Chasing Light Seekers,” and kill everyone here without much effort…

Faced with layer-level beings, they were utterly powerless to resist with their current ans, and if targeted, they wouldn’t even have the chance to escape.

After a mont of silence, Chen Xue spoke: “I’m going to call my sister and Jin Jiuyao.”

“Go…” Lu Zhao sighed. Priorities had to be sorted; solving the issues with the pseudo-human students in the classroom was truly urgent.

After Chen Xue turned away, Lu Zhao brought the hiking bag to the front, with one hand dipping inside, ready to initially respond to any anomalies.

Very soon, Chen Xue returned with Chen Bing and the slightly pale-faced Jin Jiuyao.

Upon arrival, Jin Jiuyao’s face paled instantly, blurting out, “The breath of the Deceitful Angel! That sculpture is clearly a corpse; how can it have a breath? Did Xiao Zi do sothing?”

“Chen Bing, Chen Xue, how about you…” Jin Jiuyao looked towards the twins.

Chen Xue squinted her eyes, showing no objection.

Usually silent, Chen Bing coldly spoke, “Protocol three, eliminate all threats, Old Lu, await your command.”

As she spoke, she held Chen Xue’s hand, and upon their hands connecting, a sheet of pure white breath erged, extending azure lines along their wrists, quickly spreading to their shoulders before disappearing beneath the shoulder straps of their clothes…

With the appearance of this secret mark, the aura of the twins turned from cold to much more holy, like a mobile gun turret aiming at Lin Yi, ready to launch an attack upon Lu Zhao’s command.

Not far away, Wei Liang suddenly tossed aside the H manga, grumbling, “What a trash plot—I’m really fed up. The beautiful protagonist crew’s all annihilated, why bother watching a few episodes? Even the plight of the Demon Hunter shouldn’t be drawn so ssily, right?”
