At the ntion of the word "phone," my body suddenly trembled uncontrollably.

I turned my head and saw Lili shouting loudly in the KTV room, trying to make her voice reach .

She grabbed my hand and pulled out of the private room.
"Co on, let’s go out and get so air."

Lili was really worried.
She was my childhood friend.
We had been neighbors since we were little, went to elentary, middle, and high school together, and even ended up in the sa university.
She was the closest person to besides my parents—closer even than my brother.
Oh, right, today was my brother’s birthday, which was why so many of us had co to sing at the KTV.
"Yaoyao? What’s wrong?"
Just as Lili dragged out of the room, a familiar voice called out from behind.

"Just don’t go far. Take a walk at the entrance and co right back."

I nodded quickly and turned to leave.
Lili followed imdiately.
"You really pinched … it hurt so bad, it’s definitely bruised!"
As soon as she caught up, Lili started complaining, eyes full of bla.
I felt guilty just looking at her.
"I’m sorry, okay? I didn’t want to either, but… please don’t tell my brother. He just beca a manager last month and now it’s his birthday—don’t you think this would only upset him?"
As I spoke, I reached out and gently rubbed her waist.

Arm in arm, Lili and I laughed and joked as we walked out of the KTV.
Standing at the KTV entrance, the cold wind of late autumn blew in my face, instantly clearing my mind.
Unconsciously, those two phone calls at midnight the night before and the night before that resurfaced in my thoughts.
The lighthearted mood from earlier vanished in an instant.
"What is it? You… thought about those two calls again?"
"Mm…"
Hearing Lili’s worried voice in my ear, the fear in my heart grew stronger.
Who was it… why would they make such threatening calls?
I hadn’t offended anyone—so why ?
