"Look at him ready to run away from my mother. I’m going to introduce myself to Aurora and will be ready to start work right away." Personally, Jane wanted Derek gone tonight to avoid him being there when her mother visits for dinner. She planned to have a conversation with her mother to stop visiting their ho because she was sticking her nose in their business. She knew her mother might think Derek was the one asking her to do this which was why she didn’t want him there.

"What’s wrong honey? You look conflicted. Did soone trouble you on your way here? Tell and I’ll make them pay right now." Derek always knew when sothing was wrong with his wife though others said they couldn’t read her. She often played with her nails when she was nervous about sothing.

"It’s nothing important. We’ll talk about it when you return ho. Stay safe out there please," she kissed his cheek then left in search of Aurora. Jane was thankful Derek gave her the opportunity to tell him when she was ready and didn’t chase after her.

Jane took a deep breath before stepping outside where she slled Aurora. She rembered the scent from when she was here last night with Vincent. Her personal business should not get in the way of her work and she planned to protect Aurora to the fullest since Vincent thought she would be best suited for the job.

She found Aurora in the garden speaking to the gardener. Jane was surprised that he was still working here because of his bad work ethic. She always thought the garden looked terrible but Vincent had been too busy to realize.

"When the blueberries beco ripe I would love to attempt making blueberry pie for dessert," Aurora said, interested in the blueberries Peter just told her about. One of the things she always wanted to do was try to bake. With the Hamiltons, their family mbers weren’t allowed to cook so she never got the chance.

It was weird how so won’s lives were different. So were taught to cook, clean, and obey their husband’s orders. Others had the privilege of being born into wealth so their only concern was obeying their husbands. It now made her curious about what type of man Vincent was. So far he allowed her to do as she pleased but was it all just a mask? She was living under his roof and though they had so history, his rules might change.

"Have blueberries made you beco lost in thought? I didn’t think there was much to think about the small things," Jane spoke up behind Aurora.

Aurora turned around to see a woman with brown shoulder-length hair and blue eyes. Her body showed proof that the woman loved to work out and she was wearing a uniform she saw many others with but she hadn’t brought it up to Vincent. "Hello. I was thinking about sothing other than blueberries. My na is Aurora," she extended her hand out to the woman.

"No last na? Very well, just refer to as Jane. I was assigned by Vincent to be your guard for your stay here. I hope both of us can get along well," Jane shook Aurora’s hand. From the look on the girl’s face, she knew Aurora was surprised she was a guard. "Rest assured, I have gone through the sa amount of training as my peers. I can protect you well."

"I don’t have any doubts about that, it’s just, I find it so cool you can fight. I’m jealous," Aurora truthfully admitted causing Jane to blush because she didn’t expect the response.

"Well, thank you." Jane scratched the back of her head feeling awkward after being complinted. "If you like, I can also teach you so moves to defend yourself. I’ll have to inform Vincent but I’m sure one word from you will make him agree."

"Why?"

Jane imagined the sound of a bird squawking between them because of how oblivious Aurora was. ’It’s clear as day the man is smitten by her,’ she thought. "One day you’ll understand what I an. I don’t want to speak out loud when he’s too nearby to hear us."

Aurora stepped forward, closer to Jane, and whispered, "Is there a way I can stop him from hearing what I say?"

Jane leaned forward to whisper back, "Yes but whispering to isn’t the way. You need a witch’s spell to do it. I can try seeing if-"

Aurora gasped rembering the stick the witches had given her. She placed it in her bag when she was escaping the Hamiltons unsure of whether it would be useful in the future but now it was.

"What happened?" Jane looked at Peter for an answer. Did the girl know how to cast spells? She didn’t look or acted like a witch. Normally, you could tell when you were in the presence of a witch.

"I know how to get the spell on my own. Peter, can you sohow get a lot of frogs?" Aurora asked the gardener. The last ti she spoke to the witches, one of them really wanted frogs.

"I can try if it’s really important. I heard the neighbor’s garden was full of a few of them. Guess I’ll be cleaning their garden for free." Anything not to get on her bad side so he won’t be fired.

"Great. I want them as soon as you can please. Jane, do you mind if I excuse myself for a mont?" Aurora was in a hurry to speak with the witches. She was excited about having so use for the stick.

"Sure but how do you know to contact a witch?" Jane had no idea the woman might’ve t a witch. Witches weren’t easy to co by.

"Because they gave sothing to et them again. I’ll see you later!" Aurora exclaid, running off to her room.

"As long as it’s not those three witches I’m sure it’ll be fine," Jane muttered but followed after Aurora just in case sothing goes wrong.
