Aurora was baffled by the woman suddenly accusing her of being a witch. She had done nothing wrong or suspicious for anyone to think she was a witch. ’So much for wanting to be hidden,’ she thought.
Aurora looked to Vincent wondering if they should leave before the guards would arrive but as if he could read her thoughts, he shook his head. They needed to stay as leaving would make them suspicious.
Aurora found it awful for soone to yell out such a claim when an innocent person could be killed. She was tempted to kill the woman and her sister for being so careless.
"They’re here to kill us! They are witches!"
Vincent didn’t understand how the conversation Selma and her sister were having from afar had turned to this. Unlike Aurora, he had witnessed humans calling each other all sorts of things just because they felt like it. For so reason, the pair wanted to see him and Aurora locked up.
"What is going on here? You two again?" A town guard glared at the sisters as he laid eyes on him. They made his job unbearable each ti they were travelers visiting the town. "I warned you to stop calling everyone a witch."
"This is a regular thing?" Aurora couldn’t help but ask.
"My apologies," the guard turned to Aurora. "She does this every ti a good-looking woman enters the town. She believes the won who co from out of town will steal all the n here and take them away. "Please carry on with what you were doing. You two, co with ."
"They are witches I tell you!" Selma was still unconvinced. Soone had cursed her daughter to remain unmarried. All the good n did not look at her daughter but were drawn to the won visiting from out of town. "Why are we letting these strangers co into our town? Burn them."
"The reason no man has asked for your daughter’s hand in marriage is that they do not wish to spend the rest of their life around you. You have cursed your own daughter. Stop calling random people witches or I shall have the two of you burned alive. Go ho and never co out again!" The guard pointed his weapon at the two won to make them walk away.
Aurora was both intrigued and angered by the behavior of the two won. The sisters called soone witches for such a stupid reason. If the guard had been soone to take their words seriously, she and Vincent could be following him to be inspected. It would be worse if the king was still alive and passing by this town.
"It is such a horrible thing to call soone a witch. The king did not even like it when we whispered the na of those creatures," a young appeared beside Vincent and Aurora. "Selma and Marcia do this quite often so the guards never take them seriously. It is unfortunate their yells have gotten two people killed before the guards found out the reason behind them calling others witches."
"You have a strange scent," Vincent comnted. He knew what this young woman was and the fact that she was trying to cover what she was.
"I prefer that others wouldn’t pick up on it. Follow ," the young woman walked into the crowd of people.
"Do you know her, Vincent?" Aurora was hesitant to follow after soone who had not introduced themself after randomly popping up.
"No, but she is one of us," Vincent replied. He never t the woman before but she could not remain hidden from the alpha.
The young woman was a werewolf who was alerted of his presence. Though he was wearing glamour, it did not cover his natural scent. Any werewolf living here would be able to identify ti. She covered her scent most likely to hide from other werewolves but the mont she started to talk, Vincent could sll her scent.
He was curious to know what she used to cover a strong scent. Why did it stop working when she began to talk?
"Oh," Aurora was surprised they ca across a werewolf already. It made her wonder once again, how many of them were hidden amongst humans? "I suppose it is better we follow her rather than find ourselves called vampires by soone else next. Can you tell if she is soone from your pack? What if she wishes to harm us?" She softly asked her question.
"She is a rogue therefore she belongs nowhere. She must be curious about what I am doing here. If I am here to cause trouble, she might wish to know so that she could get a head start to leave town," Vincent replied.
"That is correct," the young woman appeared by their side once again. "You are alone."
"Impressive you scouted your surroundings that quickly," Vincent honestly complinted her. If only the guards at the wall could be this skilled.
"We can talk here," she led them to an empty alley. "My na is Erin. It has been twenty years since I left my ho to be on my own. Why is the Lawerance alpha here with a disguise? It could have ended badly for you if the king was still alive. I really enjoyed my peaceful life here and I reckon you are here to interrupt it."
"We are not. We are here to do sothing secretly and then we shall be on our way. It will be helpful if you give us a bit of information. Is there anything being said about the Hamiltons these days?" Aurora asked.
"The Hamiltons? What is not being said about one of the richest families in town? Everyone is talking about how the young Hamilton girl will soon beco queen when she marries the new queen. The Hamiltons have not been seen a lot since the news about Minnie sleeping with her butler but I wouldn’t be surprised if they throw a big party to celebrate one of them becoming queen. What do they have to do with you?" Erin didn’t understand what an alpha could want with humans.
"Regardless of the rumors, Minnie would still be out in public to show she was doing fine. There must be another reason for them laying low," Aurora concluded. Minnie was not the type to let a rumor keep her inside forever. "It’s obvious they are preparing to use again but why are they remaining out of sight?"
Vincent could only think of one thing. "They must be planning sothing bigger than we know of."
