"What?" Derek exclaid not seeing why Vincent wanted to continue dying but then it clicked with him afterward. "You want to lure him out with your death."
"Bingo. My uncle won’t sit still if he thinks I am dying. It’d be a good idea to act remorseful and try to take my spot since Victor has no plans of becoming the leader. We’re going to use this to get rid of him one ti. My parent’s death, the vampires, and getting soone to poison . We need to uncover all of it while he is distracted," said Vincent.
"Excuse but why are you talking about your plans in front of ? You should not trust ," Mari shyly spoke up.
"It’s obvious you won’t be going anywhere to tell what we have been speaking of. You are going to be imprisoned and put on trial for what you did." Derek wanted to be apologetic for what she would face in the future but stopped himself. Though she was only trying to protect her family, she still had to be punished for her actions.
If they allowed Mari to walk away without punishnt it would reflect negatively on Vincent where so people might assu he is biased with who he chooses to punish. Mari should be thankful she was not killed on the spot by both Derek and Vincent.
"I see," Mari replied. She started to co to terms with what her life will be like going forward. She knew what the consequences of her actions were the mont she pulled out the bottle. She wondered what would have happened if she let Vincent know before all of this that his uncle wanted to poison him.
"I will need to imprison your parents too," said Vincent. He’d have to investigate to see what other jobs they did to clear their debts.
"No!" Mari yelled as they had nothing to do with what happened today. She t with Graham alone and he tasked her with this job.
"I need to make sure none of your parents are responsible for poisoning anyone else or harming anyone to pay off their debts. Ti and ti again I have reached out a hand to help everyone but it was always declined and you go to bad people who use you. I must be fair and make everyone pay for what they have done." Vincent tried to help her countless tis but she refused and ended up in more trouble.
"Okay," Mari hung her head down low, ashad of what she and her family did. "I was just protecting them."
"That I understand and I am not angry with you for protecting the people you love. Understand that I also have to protect my people. I trusted you enough to be around Aurora and there was a chance you could have poisoned her. Had I not been immune to the wolfsbane, my friends and family would be mourning for right now. "
"You will be locked up here for now until we are done with our plan then you will be sent to the prison where you will wait until your trial. Your family mbers will be spread out and you will not et until the trial has started. Co with ," Derek said as he was going to be the one to lock Mari up.
"Is everything over already?" Aurora asked as she ca down the stairs. From Mari’s sad expression she realized the truth was revealed. "It feels so dark and depressing here."
"I’m really sorry Aurora," Mari apologized.
"Why are you apologizing to ? I wasn’t the one you were hoping to kill. Give him all the apologies until he forgives you. I certainly won’t even though I like you and yes I heard all about you having to protect your family. I will never forgive anyone trying to take Vincent from ." Aurora spent too many years apart from him for soone to poison him as soon as they were together again.
Mari didn’t have a reply and went away with Derek to be taken sowhere.
"So, that was an interesting conversation between the two of you. I was almost expecting you to let her leave without punishnt. Please explain to how you will convince your uncle you are dead when you are clearly alive. Where are you going to find a corpse that looks exactly like you or at least look like you are on your deathbed?" Aurora asked.
"It would only take a spell to make it all look believable. Do you mind playing the role of a widow for the next few days? I will make it up to you after all of this."
"Vincent, you are planning to expose your uncle. That’s more than enough reason for to play along. It’s about ti you got to avenge your parent’s death. How will you be able to prove that he is working with vampires?" Aurora knew first hand it wouldn’t be easy for anyone to catch Graham speaking with vampires.
Vampires were not easy creatures to trick or catch off guard. If they were having secret etings with Graham it would be soplace they could spot anyone approaching or trying to spy.
"Vincent, I have an idea. Vampires don’t like to be betrayed by anyone they made deals with. What do you think they would do if word reaches them Graham has been double-crossing them? I know you would want the pleasure of killing him yourself but many of your kind have died thanks to him working with vampires. He should experience what they did."
As long as Graham died Vincent didn’t care how. The ultimate goal was to avenge his parents. "What do you have in mind?"
"I have favors from a few vampires I once knew. I would have to leave the community to search for them but I will have them spread the word to the vampire royals that Graham has been fooling them all alone. No, none of you can co with . Though they are my friends, vampires won’t be happy to see bringing werewolves to them. You need to trust ."
"I do. Be safe out there," Vincent pulled Aurora close to hug her. It was risky of her to leave on her own when the Hamiltons were searching high and low for her but he knew she would be alright. He couldn’t always cage and overprotect her when he didn’t need to.
"Of course, I will be. I’m not going to miss the downfall of Graham. He’s the reason-Oops!" She covered her mouth before she spilled too much. A conversation with Graham in the past was the reason she was so angry with Vincent and left his ho to go see Esralda. To put it short, it involved a wedding Vincent never told her about.
"He’s the reason what? Did he do sothing to you? Tell ," Vincent urged her. He was curious to know what interaction Aurora had with Graham that he did not know about.
"Nothing. It’s truly nothing," she stepped out of his embrace. "I will prepare to leave soon. Your plan of pretending to be dying might still be useful so plan carefully."
"Aurora, I will want to know the truth of why you stord away in the future. Nothing will last if we are not honest with each other." Vincent didn’t like the fact they never cleared up why she left him in the past. She might’ve gotten over it but he didn’t. What if the situation was to happen again and he had no idea what the mistake was the first ti to stop it from having the sa ending?
"I could say the sa to you, Vincent. Honestly, I don’t want to think about my past and the dumb decisions I made. I will tell it to you one day but accept that I don’t wish to speak about it now which is why I shut my mouth before I could spill it. You know what, when all of our problems are taken care of let us go on a walk and reveal all our secrets," Aurora proposed.
"I am fine with that," Vincent had nothing to hide. He was always an open book when it ca to Aurora. If she asked about sothing, he never had a problem informing her unless at that mont it would cause her harm if she knew. "You can’t back out of this. The day after we will have our wedding."
"And what if we have a big argunt on the walk? What will happen to the wedding? We have an eternity to be together Vincent. There is no need to rush the wedding. I seriously feel like you have started to prepare everything without my knowledge." She heard a woman who owned a flower shop talking about an order for a big event.
Why else would anyone buy so many flowers if not for a wedding? It could be for soone else but she had an inkling Vincent was the one who ordered the flowers.
"I will keep my mouth shut before I spill anything," Vincent used her words against her.
