"Just a reminder that if you had all listened to we wouldn’t be in this predicant. Those girls would’ve been back with the humans in an orphanage-"

"Or dead as you like to put it," Jane interjected. She was used to Vincent being blunt on many occasions but he had a woman with no mories of why she even liked him in the first place staying with him. Aurora’s personality wasn’t like Vincent’s and the things he said would push her away from him.

"You have always said what you were thinking but these days you need to adjust how blunt you are when Aurora is around. You can say what is on your mind but you need to co up with a way to not co off rude with your words. That is my advice if you are planning to make her love you. I can bet many of my savings that the two of you fell into a disagreent over that when you got ho."

"Of course," Vincent didn’t need to be reminded of Aurora claiming she would leave his ho if the little ones were to die. He was trying to give her the hard truth of what he thought should happen to the girls. Even though his options were better than the trial his words were still rude as Jane said. "I know I can’t be that blunt with her when it cos to killing soone. She’s not aware of the history we have with humans. If not those two little girls but grown human adults, what would you have done Jane?"

"Killed them of course." There was no reason for her to allow a grown human to stumble upon their community and let them go alive. The human could run back and inform soone of what they found.

"Cute human children made you change your principles?"

"I would still kill any adult humans who venture too close to our community but I have never been the type to hurt a child regardless of what creature they are." It took a certain kind of strength to look at a child and kill them with no remorse. Jane could never see in herself to do that.

"How easy your life must be. If it ans protecting the wolves here, I would kill a child without a doubt. It’s harder when you have the weight of everyone depending on you to make the best choices. I’ll forever be the bad guy to everyone." He had to do bad things to keep his people safe and got used to being called a monster or beast. What he didn’t want was for Aurora to see him like that. If there was soone else fit for this position, he would hand it over to them. Being the leader was draining.

"Aurora will have to co to terms with the results of the trial being out of your command. I will help her understand if she ends up getting angry with you. We want them to survive but we have to be realistic. I don’t know why I suggested the trial," Jane started to bla herself. Maybe she thought because Aurora wanted the children to be safe Vincent would bend the rules and find a way for the children.

"The gate was about to close and you chose the best option to please everyone. I cannot wait for this trial to be over and for the new wall to be built. I am in need of a long rest without being disturbed by anyone but I am not so lucky to have that." Had he not answered Aurora when she accused him of being awake he could have been still in her room sleeping peacefully but he knew he had overstayed his welco.

"Are you missing the comfort of Aurora’s bed? I can have the sa type placed in your bedroom but I believe your bed is of better quality than her own. Was it the bed you liked or the person you were sleeping close to?"

Vincent smirked as Jane had always caught on to things quickly. His little sleepover with Aurora was going to spread no doubt. The workers should know what was good for them by keeping their gossip on the inside of his ho if they wanted to keep their jobs. The two things he disliked from his workers were for them to be disrespectful and tell all of what goes on in his ho. "I’m not certain but it feels like you already have the answer for ."

"When it cos to her, I can read what’s going on in your head. You are leaving a trail of people wanting you to be together behind. Do things more privately so that it doesn’t annoy Aurora to have people talking about every single thing the two of you do. You have to tell her about the trial at dinner," Jane said.

Vincent stood up from his seat to go by his window to see if the usual spies were there. They were not. "I know. Have you been keeping an eye on my uncle to see who he has been eting with? He’s not going to sit back quietly when he gets word of this trial. It’s been so long since we had a family reunion."

"He’s been talking to the family mbers that dislike you more than ever. They get together at his ho from ti to ti."

"All of my haters under one roof. I love it. If only we could trap them in the house and burn it down to the ground," Vincent started to chuckle and looked back at Jane to see her serious expression. "I’m just joking. You know I would never."

"Actually, I know you would do that and then play innocently. You can lie to everyone but . In fact, you would order or Derek to be the ones to do it since we won’t talk about it or get caught. If you are going to stay ho for the rest of the day, do you mind if I go back ho to prepare dinner for Derek and the girls? Since Aurora cannot leave ho, there is hardly any reason for to be here. You have enough guards secretly around your ho." Jane preferred to have her old job back because she was reporting information to Vincent more than she was protecting Aurora. At the trial was when Aurora will need the protection.

People here can get really aggressive when outsiders were present but Aurora wasn’t the outsider to ss with. She had a grumpy beast willing to kill for her. If only Aurora truly knew what type of man she had longing after her. A man that could bring down an army for sothing he loved.

"Sure, you can leave. You can all leave," Vincent muttered, having a bright idea but that was for another day when the depressing trial will be over. "Before you leave, notify everyone that I don’t want to be disturbed unless it concerns Aurora and it’s dinner ti."

"Okay, It’s good to see you eating dinner on ti at the table."

"Never would I imagine there would be a day you keep constantly mocking , Jane." The woman was so serious all the ti that she forgot to let loose sotis. Why did it take his love life for her to do that?

"It’s fun to see you be so lovesick, Vincent. It’s a different side I have never seen from the man who said relationships were nothing but a trap. anwhile, you had a secret girlfriend that you left the safety of your community to save," Jane retold the events that happened not too long ago. Before he ntioned Aurora a month ago, she was worried about him finding a mate.

"Goodbye Jane," he dismissed her. Vincent went to his couch in his office and laid down to get so rest. He didn’t feel like walking all the way to his bedroom which was just next door.

Hours later, after Jane had long left the ho, a maid knocked on the door informing him dinner would soon be placed on the table. Vincent had his bath prepared to freshen up for dinner and changed into comfortable clothes. Once he was finished he headed to the dining room, passing by Aurora’s room which had no noise because of the witch spell placed, and down to the first floor.

Upon entering the dining room, he found Aurora seated at the table laughing at sothing Mari said. This was the only reason he used the dining table after stopping when his parents died. He rarely cared to sit at a table and have a conversation with anyone after the incident happened. It reminded him that regardless of how old he had gotten, his mother would have the table full of food, and ask her two sons how their day went. That warmth had long left his ho but Aurora was bringing it back.

"Good evening Aurora, you look lovely," he stated, making his presence known.
