"Life would be so much easier for you if you don’t fight what you’re actually feeling. You’re enjoying playing with your hair, aren’t you? Fun fact that you might not know, I have good hearing. Why is your heart rushing so much right now? Should I go get a doctor for you?" Vincent playfully asked as he continued to swirl her hair around his fingers.
"My heart isn’t doing anything. How much longer do you plan to lay upon my bed? Is your bed not comfy enough? Don’t you have other things to do now?"
"Wow, to think that I was here trying my best to cheer you up, and now that you’re back to normal, you want to kick out. Were you always this heartless? You’re hurting my feelings a little bit right now. Is this what I get for being kind?" Vincent placed his hand on his best feigning hurt.
Aurora looked to her side at Vincent unconvinced by his act. She grew up with two people who had better acting than this when they wanted to make her feel bad for them. "You should at least shed a tear to make it more believable."
"Didn’t that move your heart?"
"No, why should it?" She remained as cold as he was earlier when they were talking about the two little girls. "Soone as cruel as you getting your feelings hurt might make the world rejoice. Shouldn’t I get a special reward for this? A castle would be nice."
"Why a castle? Have you always dreamt of living in a castle?"
"Of course. Every little girl dreamt of going to a castle at least once. The king’s palace is the closest thing to that but he doesn’t let just anyone enter and I don’t think it would’ve been a good idea for to go anywhere near the king. It was good the Hamiltons hid from the outside world. Vincent, what really stopped you from coming to get all this ti?" She could understand if he didn’t want to go anywhere near the wolf’s bane Minnie placed around but wasn’t there enough ti to think of a solution to that?
Vincent knew this conversation would co back up again and it was better to answer honestly. "The wolf’s bane was annoying but as I said, you needed to show signs that you were waking up from whatever they did to you. I had almost taken you back in the past but you had no mory of who I was and ran back into their arms. I know it sounds simple but it’s more complicated than I am making it sound."
"They had a hold on you when you didn’t rember anything about your past. And the reason I couldn’t step foot on their land wasn’t because of those flowers but because they had a spell around their land. That family has to be dealing with witches to keep other creatures off of their land. Have you ever seen anyone suspicious visiting the ho?" Vincent had a theory about the Hamiltons but had to look into it more.
"A lot of tis that they had guests I was told to return to my room. Their property is big so anyone can co in from anywhere without being noticed. Not to forget, we had a lot of workers coming in and out every day. It’s surprising how easily two-faced people can be. They believed people like witches and vampires never existed and shouldn’t be spoken of. The entire ti, they could’ve been using a witch?"
Aurora wondered how many other people were like this. Talked badly about other creatures and how the king should kill anyone who doesn’t fit their definition of normal but still employ these people at night. "If there is anyone to find out what is going on in that ho it’s Regina. It might not look like it but she pays close attention to everything around her and knows a lot of gossip. That’s how I stayed well inford even when I rarely left ho. Is there no way for us to get in touch with her?"
"You can’t just return to the town because Minnie has people looking for you left and right. I can’t just walk on their property and it will be pointless sending another wolf there."
"You talk to in my mind here and there. Can’t you do it with her too? Is there sothing special you need to do to make it work?" If he could do that with Regina it would make knowing what Minnie was up to much better. Plus, Aurora wanted to know what happened with Regina after she had hit Samuel. Did anyone find out? Was she punished? Did she get away with it? There were many questions she needed answered.
"That doesn’t work like that. I know no interest in your sister therefore I can’t communicate with her," Vincent had a connection with Aurora which was why he felt when she beca hurt. He couldn’t just do it with anyone and he didn’t want to, Not that he could even if he wanted to.
Werewolves build a connection with one person they want to be with forever and gain an emotional connection with that person. A mark would show up on the couple’s skin to show this connection. That was why the crescent moon showed up on Aurora’s skin. That was his marking.
"Oh, it would’ve been helpful if you could. Realistically, we won’t find out much about their history without having soone on the inside to give us more information. There are a lot of family secrets locked up around the ho but I just never cared to pry into them because we were a normal family. Regina is not going to look if she has no idea about them. We’ll never know if they hired a witch at this rate," she said.
If she had known she needed to find out about the Hamilton’s past, she would’ve done that when she was still living with them and wouldn’t be in this predicant where they didn’t have anyone on the inside to help them. "Is there a place outside of their ho that will have information about their history? I’ve only heard rumors of the king keeping tabs on the people inside his kingdom but you can’t just waltz into his palace."
"I’m going to figure sothing out about Aurora. Trust . I’ve been keeping my own records of that family since you went there and I know a paperman who has been watching them also. There are a lot more people in the town who dislike the Hamiltons and with the right push, we can get soone on the inside to be our spy. I’ll work on it," he promised her.
If the Hamiltons had been dealing with witches before it ant he had to put up more security around because they could acquire the services of other creatures to look for Aurora. This wasn’t the ti for the guards at the gates to not be doing their job properly.
"Okay, I trust you." If not Vincent, who else was going to succeed?
"Is that a smile I see? Are you sure you are not bipolar? One minute you enjoy hurting my feelings and then the next one you are smiling because of my efforts," he released her hair and fully laid back against her bed to look up at her ceiling.
"You have your monts. Why are you getting more comfortable on my bed? I know I am the one who invited you in here but you can’t stay too long. Your workers will get the wrong idea if you stay in here too long with the door closed. That was my mistake for doing that without thinking. Hey!" She called when he closed his eyes like he was going to sleep. He said he had good hearing a while ago now he was going deaf?
"Their minds are already running wild with theories about the two of us. Who cares at this point? I’m tired," Vincent said, falling asleep thanks to the comfort of her bed. It felt much more comfortable than his own at this mont. "Wake up in an hour’s ti. I have more work to do."
"Wouldn’t it just be best to go to your room? And you are laying down with the clothes you wore outside. Vincent! Vincent?" She poked his cheek not believing he had fallen asleep. "Ow," she groaned when he turned his head with his eyes still closed and bit her finger.
"Just for one hour please," he begged.
Aurora was certain that him staying for an hour would lead to rumors that she welcod him to her bed which was partially true but not like what they thought. Still, he was right. Everyone must have their own idea about her relationship with Vincent and regardless of if she told them there was nothing going on they wouldn’t believe her. She knew how society worked with its love for gossip.
"Just one hour," she agreed to let him stay here with her.
