However, before the people of Arica could react to all this, the press conference held by Pezela, Conrad, and Benson had already captured a lot of attention.

that these three congressional candidates wanted to make a statent of protest after seeing Derick and Stevenson being taken away.

They were going to withdraw from this midterm election and stop running for Congress.

Payden cursed, then fell into thought for a mont before saying, “This can’t go on any longer. As I’ve said before, with New York being the financial center of the world, continuing like this will only put more international pressure on us. Go personally to the Internal Revenue Service, have a talk with Obadiah, and then to New York, have a word with David, and tell him to dial it back!”

Wylder imdiately left the White House and headed towards the direction of the Internal Revenue Service.

At the least, it would cause a state-wide upheaval, and at worst, it could cause the administrative system of the entire state to beco paralyzed.
That might not bother the higher-ups at headquarters, but for those who had to keep working in that state, this concern was not to be taken lightly.
“Relax, Chief Goldwin, I’ve had this planned out for a long ti; there’s nothing to worry about.”
David replied calmly.
“Chief Inspector David, there’s sothing I must remind you,” New York is not like other states; this is the stronghold of Freemasonry. They control every industry and aspect of the state, and even many civilians are on their side. This is sothing to be cautious of…”
“I understand.”
David had indeed garnered a lot of public support throughout Arica, but if one were to compare which of the 50 states’ ordinary citizens supported him the least, New York State would certainly be high on that list.
Because, as Goldwin said, New York State is after all Freemasonry’s territory. They have been deeply rooted here for many years, controlling various industries that benefit the ordinary citizens, who naturally tend to side with the Freemasonry Group.

A black man who seed to be one of the organizers stepped forward, arms spread to call for calm.
And after his call, the agitated crowd indeed quieted down, and the protestations stopped.
