Chapter 841: Chapter 421: Taking Down the New York State Governor_2

Following the bold steps of this courageous man, David arrived at the hall, where Governor Derick also imdiately stood up, approached with a welcoming smile, and extended his right hand, saying, “Chief Inspector David, welco to your arrival.”

“Really welco?”

Watching David’s seemingly mocking deanor, a hint of displeasure flashed through Derick’s eyes, but it was quickly concealed as he asked, “Chief Inspector David, I’ll skip the small talk. What brings you to the Governor’s Mansion this ti?”

“Nothing much, I heard that the Governor has had so friends over recently to catch up, but these friends have had so issues detected by our Internal Revenue Service, so I just wanted to have a chat with them.”

“Are you talking about Benson, Conrad, and Pezela? They did indeed co to visit to reminisce, and they are good friends of mine. I can vouch for their character and guarantee that they would never engage in tax evasion. Please rest assured, Chief Inspector David!”

“Whether they are involved or not is not for you, Governor, to decide. That’s for our Internal Revenue Service to determine!”

Seeing how low he had stooped, yet still facing such an ungrateful attitude, Derick could no longer suppress his dissatisfaction and said directly, “Chief Inspector David, this is the Governor’s Mansion of New York State, the political heart of the entire state. Even if you’re determined, you must maintain so respect!”

His underlying ssage was, “I am, after all, the Governor of New York State, and this is my mansion, aren’t you going to give any respect at all?”

“Being in the Governor’s Mansion doesn’t matter, and Governor, you don’t matter either!”

“According to legal regulations, the Internal Revenue Service has the authority to oversee and govern any citizen of Arica!”

“Governor, apart from your friends, we now suspect your involvent in a tax evasion case, and we are officially issuing a summons for you!”

This ti, he had co not only for those candidates but also for the Governor himself, so there was no room left for politeness.

Hearing that he was being summoned, even the experienced Derick was montarily stunned.

He knew David was always audacious, but he had not expected him to co into his mansion and announce the summons in person.

He was the Governor of New York State, not so insignificant small fry.

“Take him away!”

David’s commanding words jolted Derick back to reality. Discarding his thoughts, he burst out furiously, “Damn it, David, you dare touch !”

“I’ve told you, Governor, our Internal Revenue Service has the authority to oversee and review any citizen of Arica. If you have sothing to say, co back to the office and we’ll talk properly!”

“Damn it, very well, David, you will pay for this…”

Derick continued to curse furiously.

But Manson and the others didn’t care about that; they moved forward to restrain him.

And while the security personnel at the Governor’s Mansion might have been wary of David, seeing their master being treated this way ant they could no longer stay calm and stepped forward to intervene.

“What, do you think I didn’t bring enough people today and fancy arm wrestling with us?”

The security personnel couldn’t et David’s gaze but still tightly shielded Derick behind them.

“In that case, Jerry, call the ard base in New York State, let them…”

“No need, since you want to summon and are prepared to face the consequences, I will go with you!”

Angry as he was, Derick, who had beco the Governor of New York State, still had self-control.

He knew David was no ordinary man; if this bastard said he would call in the ard forces, he actually would—it wasn’t just a threat.

To avoid further public scrutiny, he decided it was better not to act tough for now.

Of course, it was also because he realistically couldn’t stand up against the Internal Revenue Service Ard Forces.

“Very well.”

David gave Derick a knowing look.

And once Derick was taken away, Larin imdiately initiated a search of the mansion and soon brought the three congressional candidates before David.

“Benson, Conrad, Pezela, gentlen, hello.”

“Humph, Chief Inspector David, you really carry quite an air, showing up at the Governor’s mansion like this!”

Though fearful of David deep down, they were still people of the Freemasonry Group and were on their own turf, so they naturally had to speak boldly.

“You’ve violated tax laws, so we had to co looking for you. It’s not about showing off.”

“Heh, David, this is the Governor’s Mansion. Aren’t you afraid this will incite public anger?”

“If I were afraid, I wouldn’t have co.”

“Where’s Governor Derick?”

After looking around for a while and not seeing Derick, Candidate Benson changed his tone and asked.

“Well asked, Governor Derick is involved in so tax cases and has been taken away by for investigation.”

“What did you say!”

Upon hearing this, the three of them were massively shocked. They had originally thought that David was there to target them, but unexpected to them was the fact that not only were they targeted, even the esteed Governor of New York State had been taken away.

David didn’t say anything more and then began to use the inspection function to size up the three n…

“Alright gentlen, please take a seat before we continue,” David said after inspecting the information of the three n.

The n exchanged glances, and though they hadn’t recovered from the shock of Derick being taken away, they slowly sat down on the sofa.

“Gentlen, I know that because you’ve received so financial backing, you might have promised so groups to do certain things for them in Congress if you succeed in your campaigns, but these actions are not in my favor, I would not like you to do these things for them, so, this is a misunderstanding that can be resolved. What do you think?”

Upon hearing this from David, the three candidates were stunned.

After hearing that Derick had been taken down, they were sowhat prepared ntally, but they hadn’t expected David to say it was a misunderstanding?

What did that an?

Was he showing them leniency?

But that didn’t make sense either!

David dared to directly storm into the Governor’s Mansion, even taking the Governor down on the spot, how could he just let them go?

“What do you an by that?”

The one who asked this was Pezela.

“It ans nothing more than what I’ve said, this ‘might’ be a misunderstanding, do you agree?”

The three looked at each other once more.

In the end, it was Lipezela who first said, “I think… it probably is.”

Although they didn’t know why David seed intent on giving them a break.

But in the current situation, only a fool wouldn’t go along with David’s words. After all, now they were like fish on the chopping block and when given a choice, there was no point in truly resisting.
