As his inauguration remarks ca to an end, thunderous applause erupted once again in the venue.
And with that, the evaluation period eting drew to a close.
At the entrance of the National Tax Bureau Lakeside District Sub-Bureau Branch, Lewis gazed upon the familiar doors and scenery, and couldn't help but feel sentintal, "I really hate to leave..."
Saying so, he waved goodbye to David and the others who had co out to see him off, "Alright, I'm off now, good luck to all of you!"
David waved back as he bid farewell, then entered the building and made his way to the intelligence departnt to retrieve all the materials related to the Dieter case.
Eventually, he arrived at the door of his fourth-floor office.
The sign that had previously read 'Chief Tax Officer Lewis' now bore the na 'Director David'.
He pushed open the door and, looking around the office that now belonged to him, David couldn't help but feel a sense of accomplishnt swell within him.
But that feeling was quickly subdued.
He had just taken office as the Chief Tax Officer, and he needed so significant tax achievents to establish authority. Solving the Dieter case was the best option!
An hour later.
All the docunts pertaining to the Dieter case had been reviewed, and he picked up the phone to summon Nisen and the other seven mbers to his office.
About seven or eight minutes later, they entered one by one, and in unison they asked, "Director David, you wanted to see us?"
David nodded and said, "A new evaluation period has started, and I'm preparing to handle the Dieter case. Does anyone want to join in?"
Upon hearing this, fear flickered across the faces of so of them.
For starters, Dieter belonged to the Omaha family, whose presence in Las Vegas was comparable to that of a local tyrant.
And Dieter was known to be brutal and fierce, so even for the National Tax Bureau to take him on, the risk was substantial.
"I know this case carries significant risk, but we are from the National Tax Bureau, and tax collection is our primary duty!"
"If you really don't want to handle it, that's fine; I will assign you to other cases!"
"However, if you're willing to work with on this case, once it's resolved, I promise that each team will get at least Ten Thousand US dollars in tax achievents!"
According to intelligence departnt data, Dieter was estimated to earn about Three Million US dollars a month.
But data from the intelligence departnt was always a minimum estimate rather than an accurate figure.
So David thought that this guy's inco was definitely more than that.
And don't forget.
Dieter was not just one person, he had a number of core mbers, underlings, and collaborators, among other forces under his command.
If this gang were taken down in one sweep, they could seize not just Three Million, but perhaps even Ten Million might not be enough to cover it!
"Ten Thousand!"
All present couldn't help but have their eyes shine at the ntion of that sum.
You should know that in the last evaluation period, aside from David's group, the other three groups combined had only made a little over Ten Thousand in tax achievents.
And now David was promising that each group could earn Ten Thousand in tax achievents for resolving this case—the offer was extrely tempting.
Moreover, it's important to note that their new Director was not like others, he was truly capable!
With him leading the Dieter case, the chances of success were naturally very high!
"Chief Tax Officer, I'll handle this case!"
Nisen had long wanted to take on this case and, with the promise of Ten Thousand in tax revenue, he naturally and decisively stepped forward.
Following him, Bucky also stood up, "Director, our team will handle it too!"
"Our team will take it on as well..."
"..."
Lured by the promise of riches, all four teams and seven mbers reached a unanimous decision.
Seeing this, David was extrely pleased.
Although he had the golden touch, Dieter had a huge network and many involved individuals, and relying on David alone would be exhausting.
With the concerted effort of these inspectors, it would alleviate much of the burden!
"Good!"
David sorted out four sets of docunts from the multitude of case materials on Dieter, then said to everyone, "Each team will investigate one aspect. You may apply for operational funds from at any ti, don't skimp on spending—thorough investigation is most important!"
The seven nodded in agreent and affirmatively.
Afterward, David didn't wish to delay them further and sent them on their way.
However, Nisen paused, his face wearing a bittersweet expression as he hesitantly said, "Director, about my partner..."
David had already ntioned it just now.
By resolving this case, they would get at least Ten Thousand US dollars in tax achievents as a baseline.
But that was just the minimum.
If one perford exceptionally well on this case, they would certainly receive more.
However, his team consisted of just himself, which was inevitably less efficient than the other groups, which was precisely why he was troubled.
"You go and get started, I'll find you a partner as soon as possible!"
"Alright..."
Nisen could only leave, sowhat disheartened.
After he left, David imdiately turned on his computer and logged into the National Tax Bureau's intranet 'Transfer Request Form'.
Within the National Tax Bureau system, any inspector could actively apply for transfer to another Sub-Bureau Branch.
So now what David was looking for was to see which inspectors across the country had submitted applications to their Lake District Sub-Bureau Branch, and then screen out a sharp and capable inspector to partner with Nisen.
...
anwhile.
In the capital of Nevada State, Carson City, inside an apartnt building.
A thin man with glasses was tirelessly tapping on his computer, and his computer screen was constantly filled with lines of code.
He was no other than David's old acquaintance, the hacker expert Koffdale.
About ten minutes passed.
Then, the computer's large screen suddenly showed the Pentagon's emblem, followed by the words 'Access Granted' in large letters.
This instantly overjoyed him, and he exclaid, "Hahaha, the Pentagon, it's just that simple huh!"
"Bang!"
However, the next second, right as his excitent peaked, his apartnt door was suddenly kicked open, and a squad of fully ard personnel wielding M4A1 rifles rushed in.
"FBI! Hands up, get your damn hands up!"
Already panic-stricken, Koffdale nearly wet himself upon hearing the word 'FBI.'
He imdiately raised his hands and pleaded, "Don't shoot, don't shoot, I'm unard!"
Once the situation was under control, the FBI personnel searched the room and, finding it safe, one of them spoke through an earpiece, "Jero, Agent Brod, it's secure, you can co in now!"
About a minute later.
Two n dressed in suits, with a sowhat chilly aura, walked in.
One of them first scrutinized Koffdale with a sharp look, then turned to the large screen, and finally said coldly, "You dare to infiltrate the Pentagon, who gave you such audacity!"
