Chapter 746: Chapter 374: Audacious David
“Are you sure you can settle this as soon as possible?”
David looked at him interestedly.
“I have so ‘relationships’ with the Legislative Committee, and I believe there shouldn’t be any problems!”
Having served as the Party Whip in the House of Congressman for so many years, if Josh couldn’t even handle a committee, he wouldn’t be in the ga.
“Good, if you can take care of this, I surely won’t let you down in the future, but you need to be quick, as you know, Freemasonry is currently spending a lot of money and employing various ans to woo those mbers of the congress, and I don’t have much ti to delay.”
If Josh could solve this issue quickly, it would save him a lot of effort, allowing him to focus on other matters!
...
“No problem, give a day, and I’ll have it done!”
“Good, a pleasure working with you!”
“A pleasure working with you!”
Having reached an agreent, the parties involved shook hands with much delight.
“Then Inspector David, without further delay, I’ll go handle this matter now!”
“Go ahead!”
Josh didn’t waste any more words; he stood up and swiftly left.
Soon, only David and Church were left at the scene.
“Inspector David, once Josh has resolved this matter, the bill will go into the dialectic and improvent phases, and they won’t be able to hold us back anymore. Then it will proceed smoothly to the voting phase, but what I want to know is… are we really secured with the votes now?”
Church had previously assured Josh that the number of votes was sufficient, but that was rely to make the other side abandon any hesitations and side with him.
In reality, he was still sowhat unsure about the situation with those congressn.
“According to my staff’s statistics, we currently have 228 votes. With Josh’s vote now, that makes 229, but at the mont, there are many two-faced individuals involved, and when it actually cos to voting, there are still so uncertainties.”
Church was naturally pleased to hear the first part of David’s statent, but he beca worried again at the latter half.
Logically, having control over 229 votes in the House of Congressman should be a huge advantage.
But historically, during the voting phase of legislation, there are cases where congressman who had been previously persuaded suddenly switch sides, causing the bill to fall through.
Especially now that Freemasonry’s Big Three Groups are spending a great deal of manpower and financial resources to lobby these congressn.
And since David ntioned that there were quite a few two-faced people involved, it showed that the risk was significant.
“However, don’t worry too much; I’ll try to handle this in a few days, reducing the number of people who switch sides at the last mont. After all, we just need 218 votes.”
Hearing David’s reassurance, Church nodded, then seed to rember sothing and asked, “With the current number of votes, plus your next moves, Inspector David, I think passing the vote in the House of Congressman shouldn’t be a problem.”
“Even committee passing in the Senate is also likely if everything goes smoothly.”
“But what I’m really worried about is, when it’s presented to Mr. President, will he truly sign it?”
His worry was not unfounded.
Despite Payden not showing any clear stance and even so circulating information suggesting he hopes for the bill to pass,
but Freemasonry’s Big Three Groups are undeniably powerful. If the bill indeed passes both chambers, these groups will surely want to influence Payden.
Whether Payden can withstand their pressure is hard to say.
“If Payden refuses to sign, then we will need to gather a two-thirds majority in congress for this bill to pass, which might be difficult…”
Given the current situation, it is hopeful that this bill can pass both the Senate and House of Representatives.
However, seeking to achieve a two-thirds majority in both chambers might be challenging.
Moreover, the Big Three aren’t fools; how would they let you sway so many congressn?
Church grew increasingly worried about this scenario and stared intently at David, eager to know his views.
Unexpectedly, there was no sign of concern or frowning on David’s face; his expression remained serene.
“As things stand, no one can stop this bill from passing, not even Mr. President. If he refuses to sign, then I will find a way to make him sign, or… replacing him with soone else to sign is also possible!”
David’s words startled Church.
Replacing soone to sign, what does that an?
Did David plan to act against the President?
But that couldn’t be possible; according to Arica’s constitution, as long as the President is in office, he cannot be prosecuted by any judicial process.
That’s right!
Impeachnt!
Church’s thoughts shifted instantly.
The President of Arica can’t be prosecuted, but he can be impeached by Congress.
As long as the impeachnt is successful, the President must step down.
Just like Nixon during the Watergate scandal.
But it must be said, Inspector David’s boldness is truly staggering; he even dared to contemplate actions against the President. That’s just crazy!
“Go ahead, contact if there’s anything.”
“Alright, I’ll take my leave now.”
