Chapter 516: Chapter 266: National Tax Inspector Killed_2

They ca here following Director David’s orders, aiming to catch a few mbers of the Sackler family for interrogation, not to apprehend dangerous gangsters or drug dealers.

So they really didn’t expect these people to be ard, and they certainly didn’t expect these hotheaded youths to actually dare to shoot.

But unexpectedly, they almost fell for it, which really pissed him off.

“Motherfucker, do you know who I am, you damn asshole, you shot in the leg, I’m going to kill you.”

Whether it was the drugs or sothing else, at this mont, the man on the ground was not at all frightened but instead started to yell defiantly.

“Huggins, Huggins, oh shit…”

While the two were still confronting each other here, a series of urgent voices from the back interrupted Nisen’s thoughts, and he turned to see the situation there, his expression imdiately changing.

It turned out that, during the gunfire just now, the Inspector he signaled to stop the DJ was probably too conspicuous, and he got hit by a stray bullet and fell to the ground.

“Call an ambulance, quick!”

Nisen barked an order, turned his head, and with a furious look, stepped on the wounded leg of the man, and cursed, “Resisting arrest with violence, drug abuse, assaulting an IRS Inspector, you are so dead, asshole!”

The man scread in pain, and he was about to curse out loud, but when he heard the phrase “assaulting an IRS Inspector,” he was completely dumbfounded.

IRS Inspector?

Weren’t these the aggrieved parties looking for trouble?

Because the Sackler family had been selling OxyContin for years, leading to millions of broken hos and lives, the Sacklers had faced more than just condemnation with words.

So extre victims or their family mbers would even often look for opportunities to attack the family mbers, resulting in these family descendants frequently being on edge.

And when Nisen and his group walked in just now, with their imposing manner and turning off the music, it made him mistakenly think that it was so asshole coming to pick a fight again, and since he was a bit high, he pulled his gun in anger in a spontaneous reaction.

But who could have expected that the people who ca knocking were from the IRS?

But, brother, if you are with the IRS, you should have said so earlier!

Even if you didn’t say, you should at least wear a uniform or sothing, right, so that everyone could be a bit more discerning, right?

Now that things have turned out this way, how could this possibly end well?

Though the man was a Sackler, he knew that the IRS was not to be trifled with, so upon hearing Nisen identify himself, he sobered up quite a bit from the drug’s effects, a sudden and unexplained sense of fear rising from the bottom of his heart.

Back at the apartnt, Director David was lying on the sofa, watching the Arican TV series ‘House of Cards’.

This series was all about a great deal of power and intrigue, and he hoped to learn sothing useful from it, since he just might need it in the days to co.

While he was engrossed in the show, his mobile phone rang. He picked it up and saw it was Nisen calling, so he imdiately answered, “What’s up?”

“Director, there’s been an incident…”

A few minutes later, with a grave expression, David hung up the phone, quickly got dressed, hailed a cab downstairs, and made a beeline for the University of Southern California Hospital.

If it had been an average Inspector who had an accident, he, as the Director, would not have had to rush over there.

But now, it was an Inspector he had sent on a mission who had an accident, and if he as the Director did not go to provide reassurance as soon as possible, it certainly wouldn’t do.

Twenty minutes later, the car stopped at the entrance to the hospital, only to find that a large number of dia had already gathered there.

“Director David, it is said that there was a shooting at the t Bar in Santa Monica, with one of your Inspectors critically injured. What’s your response to this?”

“Director David, it is said that this mission was carried out under your orders, leading to this outco. Will you take responsibility for this?”

“Director David…”

The dia were indeed well-inford; not even half an hour had passed since the incident, and they had already picked up on so many hints.

In fact, you couldn’t bla them for being so well-inford and coming here in droves; it’s just that within all of Arica’s departnts, the casualty rate of the IRS’s officials was very low.

But now, soone had dared to shoot at an IRS Inspector, and it was allegedly under investigation by Director David’s orders.

As a result, combining these two factors naturally turned it into a hot breaking news story, and every dia outlet wanted to capture the inside scoop as soon as possible.

“Sorry, our Inspector is in critical condition now, I have no ti for interviews. After the matter is over, we will hold a press conference to explain,” David said impatiently.

David had no ti to dawdle with them, and he squeezed through the dia crowd, following the signs straight to the third floor ergency room.

When he got there, Nisen and the inspectors who had been on the mission were anxiously waiting. Upon his arrival, they greeted him with a unified “Director”.

“How is the situation?”

“Still in ergency treatnt.”

Nisen lowered his head, not daring to et David’s gaze.

“What the hell happened? Didn’t I tell you to pick up a few Sacklers for questioning? How did it turn into a shootout?”

David was also puzzled; it’s not like they were sent to deal with gangsters or drug dealers, so how did things get so out of hand?
