Chapter 463: Chapter 249: The Investigation Team Moves Into the Western Suburb Branch_2

“‘Houshen,’ ‘Wolfart,’ what are these two financial companies all about?”

“According to the information we’ve obtained, these two companies are controlled by Morgan Datong.”

“Morgan Datong!”

Upon hearing these four words, David’s pupils suddenly constricted.

The renown of Morgan Datong was not just in Arica, but it was also well-known throughout the entire world.

It wouldn’t be an overstatent to describe this company as a behemoth in the financial sector.

And the Morgan Family, which owned this company, was one of Arica’s top tycoon families, with original shares in the Federal Reserve in their hands.

Could it be…

Did Stevenson have so connection with Morgan Datong, or even the Morgan Family?

Sensing what David was thinking, Nisen continued to explain, “Stevenson does indeed have so connections with the Morgan Family. According to the information we’ve unearthed, his wife is the niece of the current head of the Morgan Family.”

Upon hearing this, David finally understood.

He thought back to when Stevenson was nearly finished by him in Nevada State, wondering why the headquarters had suddenly called to tell him to stop.

If there were connections with the Morgan Family, this seed to explain everything.

When facing such a top-tier tycoon family, considering the family’s comprehensive influence, it would be normal for the higher-ups in the National Tax Service to show so consideration.

“If he had this connection, then why didn’t we find out about it when we were in Nevada State?”

David mumbled to himself. When preparing to make a move on Stevenson, he naturally investigated the guy’s background, but hadn’t found this detail.

Nisen explained, “There’s no helping it, the intelligence system in Nevada State is still a bit behind, far inferior to ours at the Western Suburb Branch.”

This revelation caused David to have a sudden realization. Yes, compared to California, Nevada State was indeed a backwater, so it was only natural that their intelligence system couldn’t match up to the current Western Suburbs Branch’s system.

“Director, look, Phipps is just a Congressman, yet his stand against the Dark Tax Bill has already caused us so much trouble, let alone a Senator stepping out. So, I believe that even if Stevenson has connections with the Morgan Family, we absolutely can’t let him be successful in his campaign!”

Nisen solemnly reminded him.

Indeed, there was no need for the reminder, for David was well aware of this point.

To put it plainly, the relationship between the House of Congressn and the Senators was that the forr proposed bills, while the latter had the power of final approval.

The sa went for the relationships between Congressn and Senators.

However, getting rid of Stevenson furnished no great challenge with the ans David had at his disposal now, but he feared antagonizing the behemoth that was the Morgan Family.

And upsetting the Morgan Family might as well an upsetting Freemasonry.

He certainly did not wish to beco the second overly imaginative Kennedy.

But if Stevenson was not dealt with, and if he actually got elected, considering the bad blood between them, David believed he would be in for quite a difficult ti.

Thinking it over, David couldn’t imdiately think of a better plan. He could only instruct Nisen to continue keeping an eye on Stevenson and to consider the issue more thoroughly over ti.

After all, the midterm elections weren’t until November, and there was still plenty of ti.

Two days later.

Washington D.C., Congressional Hill, in an office of the Legislature Building.

Senator Phipps, Prinhol, and Congressman Timothy were sitting solemnly while opposite them sat linda Buzz, the chairwoman of the Tax Committee in the House of Congressn and the person in charge of the Dark Tax Bill.

About ten minutes later, accompanied by a knock on the office door, anticipation appeared on the faces of the three Phipps. Then, in the next second, they saw Hulitt carrying a briefcase enter the room.

“Chairwoman linda, Senator Phipps, Prinhol, Congressman Timothy…”

Hulitt shook hands and greeted each of them in turn, while Phipps could hardly wait to ask, “Agent Hulitt, do you have the results?”

Hulitt nodded, then took a docunt out of the briefcase and handed it to linda first.

After taking it, linda pushed up her glasses and began to read it carefully, but soon, her expression turned peculiar.

Phipps, unable to contain his impatience, asked, “What’s the matter, Chairwoman linda?”

“See for yourself.”

linda did not answer but passed the several pages of docunts over to Phipps and the others, who then began reading with their eyes wide open.

However, as the contents of the docunt report beca clear, the complexions of the Phipps trio turned grave, and finally, he said angrily, “Impossible, this is absolutely impossible, the Western Suburb Branch must have launched an investigation against !”

According to the docunt report, the Western Suburb Branch had not specifically investigated the actions of Phipps and other Congressn.

But everyone knows their own affairs, and previously, during the TV debate, David not only pointed out the dealings between the two shipyards but also detailed the agreents he’d made with whom.

If this wasn’t based on a detailed investigation, how could he have known all this so clearly?

“Agent Hulitt, are you sure you’ve investigated thoroughly?”

This ti it was Timothy who questioned. He didn’t believe that David could have pointed out so many of Phipps’ insider transactions based rely on rumors; there must have been so secret investigation.

“I and my team spent a full two days at the Western Suburb Branch, we almost turned their entire office upside down, but we really didn’t find any evidence that the Western Suburb Branch had investigated Senator Phipps or any other Congressn.”

Hulitt spoke with a hint of dissatisfaction. Were they questioning his ability?

Then they shouldn’t bother asking him to do this thankless job!

The office fell silent in an instant.

Not until ten seconds later did Phipps seem to think of sothing; he suddenly turned his head and stared sharply at Hulitt, demanding, “Agent Hulitt, tell the truth, you haven’t been threatened by David too, have you?”

After his conversation with Stevenson, he understood more about David and knew that David had his ways of threatening people.

Thus, he seriously suspected that Hulitt in front of him might also have been compromised or threatened in so way.

His words caused the other two Congressn to react as well, waiting for Hulitt’s response with doubtful eyes.

“Senator Phipps, what are you thinking? I am part of the investigation team sent by the committee to the Western Suburb Branch. How could David possibly dare to threaten ?”

This was no longer a question of his ability but even a question of his integrity, and Hulitt was indeed quite angry, his chest heaving with agitation.

Phipps turned his head and said to linda, “Chairwoman linda, I do not accept the results of this investigation. You don’t know David, his thods are extrely vicious, and I request a new investigation team be sent from Washington D.C. to reinvestigate…”

“How has our David beco so vicious?”

Before Phipps could finish speaking, an extrely dissatisfied voice filled the ears of everyone present. They turned to look and saw both Director Obadiah and Deputy Director Donald entering the room.

Phipps and the others were stunned; they had not anticipated that the two heads of the tax authority would suddenly arrive.

“Director Obadiah, Deputy Director Donald, why are you here?”

linda stood up. As the chair of the tax committee, she was as familiar with the two newcors as could be.

“We heard the results of the investigation were in, and we wanted to listen in. What’s this, I heard Senator Phipps say he seems to not accept the investigation results?”

As the head of the Federal Reserve, Director Obadiah had a commanding presence, and his accusatory words made the three Phipps shrink back subconsciously.
