Chapter 449: Chapter 242: I’ll Take Care of What the Long Beach Branch Can’t Handle_2
“No more words!”
David cut him off again, saying, “Now I’ve been authorized by the city bureau to transfer all the docunts about their family to . In addition, the person in charge of the Camora Family affairs should also co over and connect with my people!”
Seeing David’s indisputable deanor and tone, Ducray clenched his teeth but ultimately did not speak any words of rebuttal. He picked up the phone on the desk: “Tell Bellamy to bring all the files on the Camora Family to my office.”
Listening on the side, David paused in surprise. He wasn’t too clear on who was in charge of the Camora Family affairs at the Long Beach Branch, but now it seed it was his forr competitor Bellamy Hattie?
As thoughts flooded his mind, ten minutes quickly passed.
The office door was knocked and Ducray said “Co in,” followed by the door opening to reveal Lamy walking in with a cardboard box. However, upon seeing David there, his pupils dilated, and his footsteps stopped in place.
“From today, the matters of the Camora Family will be transferred to the Western Suburb Branch. Furthermore, you can coordinate with Director David to go over so specific details about this family,”
Finally taking in Ducray’s words, Bellamy snapped out of his trance. He withdrew his gaze from David and said urgently, “Chief, the Camora Family is our responsibility in the Long Beach District, how can it be transferred out?”
He was the head in charge of the Camora Family, and many tax records concerning the family had already been filed. If it was transferred to the Western Suburbs Branch, did that not an that all the tax revenue involved would belong to the Western Suburbs from here on out?
Didn’t that an that all his efforts over so much ti would end up benefiting soone else?
“Shut up!”
Ducray rebuked sharply, then said with an undeniable tone, “Just do as I say, and you needn’t worry about anything else!”
At this mont, David also stood up and walked over to Bellamy, looking down at him from a position of superiority. “My people are outside. I expect you to report in detail to them every last bit about this family, its affairs… Understood?”
Being in his current high-ranking position, David actually didn’t bother himself with petty characters like Bellamy anymore. However, having bumped into him today, and recalling how this guy blocked the funds for GCO Prison the last ti, he felt a need to settle scores.
Right now, Bellamy was undoubtedly seething inside. During the competition for the ‘Deification Project’ back in the day, he had even managed to step over David, but who could predict the fickle nature of life.
Now, the other was already the high-powered Chief of the Western Suburb Branch, while he, although he had made significant progress and risen to the rank of a Tax Investigator, was still far behind in terms of rank compared to a Director. Having now to hand over the fruits of his labor was beyond frustrating.
“What, didn’t you hear what I said?”
Bellamy gritted his teeth and said, “I heard you, I will do it.”
“Good.”
Without wasting more words, David turned and left the room.
…
Half a day later, after getting a good grasp on the files and information about the Camora Family, the Inspectors of the Western Suburb Branch started to move out decisively.
And their target was just one — to comnce large-scale arrests of the core mbers loyal to the Camora Family.
In no ti at all, the Long Beach District was thrown into chaos.
In an interrogation room at the Western Suburb Branch,
a man with a Mohawk hairstyle sat there, his expression somber as he seed lost in thought.
The next second, the door was pushed open, and upon seeing who entered, the man’s pupils shrank suddenly, displaying a hint of fear.
Because the person entering was none other than David.
David sat down across from the man, placing his hands on the table, and looked at him with an interested gaze.
[Na: Craig Alvin.]
[Occupation: Gang Backbone.]
[Inco: Two Point One Million US dollars.]
[Inco Details: …]
[More Details: …]
[Taxable Amount: Eight Hundred and Thirty One and Six Hundred US dollars.]
“You’re Craig, aren’t you?”
“Yes, what’s up?”
“Wilshire Boulevard is your territory, right?”
Craig fell silent, and after a long pause, he replied, “Director David, as far as I know, your jurisdiction is just the Western Suburbs. You can’t control what happens in the Long Beach District.”
David shrugged, “I enforce the law wherever I choose!”
“I want to see my lawyer.”
“You’ll get to see them, after you answer all my questions!”
“What do you really want?”
“I’m asking you if on December 8, 2021, soone nad Mo supplied you with a batch of 100 kilograms of cocaine, and you sold it all within a month, raking in two million dollars. Then, out of that, you handed one and a half million to a guy nad Tiber, and then on January 8…”
After laundering their money, the Camora Family developed a highly clever command-and-control model remotely; when they get involved in unlawful activities like these pickups and supplies, they would pass instructions through multiple layers of people, like nesting dolls.
Similarly, the monthly proceeds subjected to their tribute would also go through multiple layers of channels and laundering before finally being injected into the legitimate businesses they controlled, becoming their so-called legal profits.
This thod, albeit complex, ensured that if any link in the chain broke down, the family could swiftly disengage, thus avoiding contamination by any dirty business.
This was also why the Long Beach Branch had little leverage against the family. Instead, they had to courteously ask the family for favors, to get the criminals to cooperate.
All this information was gleaned by David using his ‘Golden Finger’ from this man called Craig.
Hearing his affairs of the past months detailed so precisely, the man nad Craig began to panic. He countered, “No, I don’t know anything about cocaine, or anyone nad Mo or Tiber. I’m just running a few bars in Long Beach District, a legitimate businessman…”
David sneered, “A legitimate businessman, huh? Do I need to send soone right now to search warehouse number two in ‘Monica Bar’s underground parking garage? That’s where the remaining un-paid two point three million dollars and sixty kilograms of product should be, right?”
“You…”
Craig’s eyes reddened, unable to comprehend how David ca to know all this, but he knew if David really sent soone over, he could never clear his na even with a hundred tongues.
“Just cooperate, and I assure you, not a cent of your money or product will be taken. Plus, as for you, I’ll let you go. How does that sound?”
“No, that would get killed!”
Craig was no fool. At this point, it was clear that David wasn’t personally confronting a small fry like him for nothing. He must be after the ‘big boss’ behind him, the Camora Family.
Given the choice between jail and crossing the Camora Family, if forced to choose, he’d definitely have to pick the forr.
“Don’t worry, I’m not asking you to directly implicate the Camora Family. You just need to point the finger at Mo and Tiber, that’s all.”
As ntioned earlier, the remote-control model of the Camora Family was complex. Though Craig was in charge of a whole street and everyone knew he was a lackey for the Camora Family, asking him to bypass the layers of ‘nesting dolls’ to implicate the family itself was unreal.
What David needed to do was simple. If the Camora Family had a layered doll model to evade risks, he would just have to go through so trouble to layer his indictnts likewise.
Once a complete chain of evidence is established, no matter how well the Camora Family laundered their image, they would inevitably be dragged into the mud for him to carve up at will!
