Chapter 344: Chapter 207: Trial

“`

Detention Room.

After Marcellus and the others were brought back, they thought they would soon face an interrogation from Western Suburb Branch, or perhaps by Director David himself.

They were also prepared to make a hefty sacrifice in order to appease them, but to their surprise, they had waited all night. No one ca to interrogate them, and they were not even allowed to make a phone call, leaving each of them feeling unbearably irritable.

Finally, unable to endure the tornt any longer, Valenky kicked the iron bars and cursed at the guard not far away, “What the hell is going on with your IRS? If you’re going to kill us or flay us, at least give us a clear ssage!”

“Shut your mouth!”

The guard was not the least bit weak and snapped back imdiately.

“You motherfuc…”

“Enough, Valenky!”

Marcellus stepped forward, holding back the about-to-explode Valenky, and comforted, “They can’t possibly keep us locked up forever. They just want to teach us a lesson. Have so patience…”

He thought it was all because they hadn’t followed David’s orders to pay the tax before 3 o’clock yesterday. David was rely punishing them now,

Not long after he finished speaking, soone suddenly walked into the door, and at the sight of this person, the Bear Countryn’s expressions finally eased sowhat.

Because the visitor was none other than Bucky, who they had seen with David the day before.

It looked like David was about to see them!

That’s what all the Bear Countryn thought, but Bucky’s next words made them all dumbfounded.

“Marcellus, Valenky… Gentlen, you can now make a call to find a lawyer,” he said.

“Find a lawyer? That’s not necessary, right…?”

Marcellus and the others had not yet realized what was happening. They thought that since David had raided their warehouse and caught so many of their people, they might as well admit defeat and pay the tax. There was no need to get lawyers involved in any debate.

“No, you’ll probably need one in court.”

At these words, all the Bear Countryn felt their brains short-circuit.

Marcellus was the first to react, sensing that sothing was amiss, he tentatively asked, “To court? What court?”

“Your organization is suspected of a major tax evasion case and will be brought to trial in our city bureau’s courtroom in two hours, at 10 o’clock!”

“What did you say!!!”

All the Bear Countryn were stunned.

With the situation spelled out so clearly, how could they possibly not realize what was going on?

They had always assud that David had arrested them and held them overnight simply to teach them a lesson and to force them to pay the taxes.

But now it looked like David was going to screw them over big ti!

Thinking this, the Bear Country people began to panic.

They knew that back in Nevada State, after David sent each person to court, the prison sentences handed down never amounted to less than 1000 years.

If they were sent there and found guilty, they would spend their whole lives in prison.

Marcellus, fighting back the panic in his heart, said, “Chief Tax Officer Bucky, this… what exactly is going on? We are willing to pay the taxes. There’s no need to take matters to court so severely, is there?”

“Heh?”

Bucky scoffed disdainfully and replied, “Our Director gave you a chance before, but you didn’t appreciate it. Now you can only bla yourselves.”

Hearing this, the Bear Countryn beca even more desperate. Valenky, not caring about anything else, pleaded, “Chief Tax Officer Bucky, it was our fault before. We realize that now. Please tell Director David that we are willing to pay the tax truthfully… and if necessary, we’re willing to contribute a bit more to the IRS…”

“Yes, yes Chief Tax Officer Bucky, please speak to Director David for us.”

“Chief Tax Officer Bucky, please help us…”

No matter how fierce and imposing their organization was on the outside, now that they had fallen into the hands of the IRS, they were like fish on a chopping board.

So, to avoid punishnt, these Bear Countryn lost their forr drug traffickers’ arrogance, almost begging.

But Bucky did not pay attention to them. Instead, he turned to the guards and ordered, “Watch them. They are only allowed to call their lawyers, not anyone else!”

“Understood.”

“Chief Tax Officer Bucky!”

Watching Bucky leave, a group of Bear Countryn let out a hysterical roar.

And one of them lashed out at Marcellus, “Dammit, I told you that David was not to be trifled with. We should have just paid the tax as he demanded; why did we have to argue about the rights to speak, set conditions, now what do we do?!”

Marcellus’s face was filled with bitterness.

In fact, it was Rodrigozki’s decision, and he had never imagined that David not only had so much information on their organization but was also so ruthless, capturing them and not even talking to them, sending them straight to court for trial.

If he had known earlier, he would have borrowed money at high interest rates to pay this tax, but now it was too late to say anything…

Located at the intersection of Long Beach District and Western Suburban District, the City of Los Angeles’s city district was bustling as the ti neared ten o’clock. Personnel from the IRS of several large districts, other administrative departnts, and so invited guests had steadily arrived.

And a large number of dia reporters were also present, broadcasting.

“As you can see, officials from Los Angeles City Hall, including our City Manager Mr. Dusepa, Deputy Mayor Mr. Hillsf, and others, have already arrived at the scene,” they reported.
