If Laurie's bid for Governor were successful, as her secretary, he would naturally rise with her. However, the risk involved was still too great for him to dare to take a gamble.

"I certainly know the stakes are very high, but David is not just a little capable, he actually got the entire FBI system in Nevada State on his side!"

"What did you say?"

Sherwood doubted his own ears, looking at Laurie incredulously.

"Sohow, David managed to win over Gavin. Now it seems Gavin can only obey his commands."

"How... how is that possible..."

This ti, Sherwood was even more shocked than before.

Who was Gavin?

He was none other than the biggest boss of the Nevada State FBI.

And David, even if recently high-profile, was rely a Chief Tax Officer. The difference in their levels was huge.

Yet now, Gavin was supposedly taking orders from David?

If he hadn't heard it from Laurie, he would certainly have cursed the ssenger for spouting nonsense.

"I initially also thought it was impossible, but David made a phone call to Gavin right in front of , like giving an order to a subordinate, and Gavin had no choice but to comply without a hint of anger. I couldn't help but believe it."

Upon hearing this, Sherwood's mind was struck with force once again. It took a while before he recovered and said, "As far as I know, Stevenson and Gavin have a special relationship. If Gavin is now taking orders from David, it's very likely that he was caught in so fatal compromise."

"I have the sa feeling. You can tell from the conflict between the IRS and FBI two days ago; in the end, both parties acted as if nothing happened. This proves that so sort of deal or settlent was reached."

Sherwood nodded in agreent, finding it logical, and then said, "The IRS is already very powerful, and with David's own formidable thods, now that he controls the entire FBI system in Nevada State, that's indeed like adding wings to a tiger."

Laurie, stroking her chin, said, "That's why I think this has so potential. It might be worth taking this risk. What do you think?"

"David, the IRS, plus the FBI, it's definitely worth the gamble..."

Although the risk was still significant, fortune favours the bold, and such an opportunity, if missed, might never co again in one's lifeti.

Having weighed the decision carefully, Sherwood felt sowhat tempted.

"Contact the Carpenter and Elliot financial groups. Sound them out subtly. If I have a chance to beco Governor, see if they're willing to back fully!"

Arica is a capitalist country.

Here, whether it's becoming a mayor, a senator, a Governor, or even a President, you need the backing of financial groups to succeed.

If you don't have the support of financial groups, you won't even get past the hurdle of campaign funding, let alone other matters.

"I'm on it..."

...

Banshan Villa District, located to the east of Carson City, near the border with Reno City.

Perched amid the hills, where one can gaze down at the night view of the entire Carson City, the scenery is exceptionally beautiful, making it a preferred residence area for many of Nevada's powerful elites.

In the center of the villa district, there stands a private mansion occupying about 10,000 square ters.

This mansion is said to be built by a duke from England, not open to the public, and exclusively for the elite.

At this ti, a Volvo arrived at a small door at the side rear of the mansion. As the car door opened, Director David and his entourage stepped out.

"Director David?"

The man standing guard at the entrance, a plain-faced guy smoking a cigarette, imdiately approached upon seeing the people who alighted from the vehicle.

"Is he inside now?"

After leaving Laurie's house, David had gone to visit Secretary of State Oldington Joe at his residence but was told that the Secretary was not at ho.

With no other choice, he called Gavin to track down the man's whereabouts.

After so investigation, they were inford that the Secretary of State was at this address, and coincidentally, there was an FBI agent on duty here. Gavin simply arranged for this agent to et them.

"Here."

"Lead the way!"

The agent imdiately pushed open a small door, leading David and the others through it, down a long corridor and into the mansion's grand hall.

The first thing that caught their eye was a delicate mural, where upon closer inspection, each stroke and line was filled with the rhythm of life.

Underneath the mural, an array of handcrafted luxurious sofas were scattered across the marble floor, their colors complenting the mural, akin to a silent symphony.

The central carpet in the hall was from royal weavers in the Middle East, and the waitstaff here, all selected from young and beautiful won, were strictly screened.

Dressed in uniform attire, their tight outfits perfectly outlined their graceful figures, and they not only had professional service qualities but also possessed an innate elegance.

On the other side of the hall, many socialites were conversing with so influential figures, surrounded by bodyguards in suits and earpieces.

"Who owns this mansion? It seems quite extraordinary!"

This was the first ti Nisen Simmons Bucky had experienced such a luxurious place and he couldn't help but exclaim in admiration.

"The owner here is from England, a man called Duke Wenge, rumored to be a mber of the 'Illuminati'!"

"The Illuminati?"

Not only were Simmons, Bucky, and Nisen startled by this revelation, but even David, who had been sizing up the influential people nearby with a keen eye, involuntarily turned his head.

The Illuminati is a mysterious organization with scarce concrete information, but rumors about it controlling the fate of the world have intensified over the years.

In recent years, rumors and speculations about the Illuminati have been rife, so of which even link it to celebrities in the entertainnt industry.

However, these are all just rumors and have never been substantiated.

"Is there really an organization like the Illuminati?"

David was also curious.

"There definitely is one, and their influence is imnse, extending throughout Arica. But who exactly are their mbers and how they operate internally remain unknown."

"Then, what is the relationship between the Illuminati and Freemasonry, and which one is more powerful?"

This ti, it was Nisen who asked.

He was very curious about these secretive Arican organizations.

"It's hard to compare, but the Freemasonry controls the Federal Reserve, the lifeblood of the global economy. So, what do you think, which one is more powerful?"

"Definitely Freemasonry!"

Bucky's statent went unchallenged by either Nisen Simmons or David.

The Federal Reserve's influence over the global economic pulse is like a person's heart, undoubtedly crucial.

"Alright, enough of that, let's focus on today's objective!"

Whether it's the Illuminati or Freemasonry, neither had any bearing on David at the mont. His pressing concern was to deal with Stevenson's issue first!

The agent silently led David and his party through the mansion's grand hall and then took the elevator to a room on the fourth floor.

He then gestured to David and the others, signaling that the target was inside.

Following that, he pulled out a card and swiped it over the door handle. The door clicked open.

Nisen and Bucky Simmons were the first to rush in, and the next second, screams echoed from inside.

"The inside is secure."

After Bucky stepped out to give a heads up, David nodded and then walked in.
