Hearing this, Curly felt a bad premonition, not only were his lips quivering more violently, but his legs also began to tremble.

But ultimately, he didn't dare to disobey and slowly turned around.

The next second, Gunter picked up a glass from the table and smashed it onto Curly's head with a loud bang, Curly collapsed to the ground.

The huge commotion also caused the bouncers at the door to imdiately open the door, and when they saw what happened inside, they didn't seem too surprised; they quickly stepped forward and dragged the unconscious Curly out.

As for the man with the ponytail who ca in with them, although his face remained calm, he clenched his fist tightly.

"Is it clear yet how the National Tax Agency found out about our route?"

"We don't know yet..."

"How much is this batch worth?"

"Around 25 million!"

Hearing this number, Gunter lit a cigarette, seemingly lost in thought.

After a while, the man with the ponytail suggested, "Mr. Gunter, the National Tax Agency sent a ssage saying if we want the goods, they want you to co over and talk to them. I think this might be a trap..."

Gunter took a deep drag of his cigarette and exhaled, pondering aloud, "Whatever traps the National Tax Agency sets, they just want to collect taxes; if we don't pay, knowing Director David's nature, he definitely won't let it go. Help get ready, I'll et with him tomorrow!"

He had made the smuggling business so big; it certainly wasn't only through sheer ruthlessness but also brains.

From the issue with the Indian Tribe and the recent great earthquakes in both Sparks and Henderson, he had figured out that David was an even tougher person than him.

Therefore, he naturally wouldn't be foolish enough to choose a direct confrontation.

"Yes."

...

Since he didn't get ho to rest until after 4 a.m., it wasn't until 11 a.m. that David arrived at the office.

He was just handling so docunts when he received a call from the reception on the first floor, claiming that a man nad Gunter wanted to et with him.

Although David did not know this person, at such a critical mont, who else could be seeking a eting with him if not soone from the smuggling group?

Imdiately, he had the reception staff bring him up.

A few minutes later, there was a knock at the door, and David said, "Co in."

The next second, Gunter and the man with the ponytail walked in.

[Na: Gant Fox.]

[Occupation: Smuggling Syndicate Boss.]

[Inco: Sixteen million US dollars.]

[Inco details: December 5th, through smuggling a batch of goods, earned two million US dollars, December 9th, through smuggling a batch, earned one point six million US dollars...]

[More details:...]

[Taxes owed: Six million three hundred thirty-six thousand US dollars.]

After reviewing the file of this man nad Gunter, David's facial expression relaxed.

He had truly feared that the group would send a nobody to talk; now that the group's boss had co as he requested, it was going to be much easier!

"Director David, hello, I am Gant Fox."

"Mr. Gunter, hello, please take a seat!"

After they shook hands, Gunter made himself comfortable and said, "I heard from my subordinates that the National Tax Agency has seized a batch of our goods?"

"That's correct. According to federal law, the ivory, antelope horns, musk, rhino horns, and such items you smuggled are prohibited goods that cannot enter the country. Of course, this is a matter for Customs, not the National Tax Agency; as long as the taxes are paid to us, that's all!"

Gunter paused for a mont and said, "This batch of goods is worth twenty-five million US dollars, according to the tax rate, that ans, if I pay over eight million one hundred thousand in taxes, I can take the goods away, right?"

"Yes..."

"Alright, I'll pay the tax!"

David had a fierce reputation, and Gunter knew he didn't have the fortitude of the Native Aricans, so he had already planned to solve the problem by paying off the calamity before coming.

"Very well, but listen to first, Mr. Gunter!"

"You do need to pay over 8.1 million in taxes for this batch of goods, but our IRS's black tax bill has been in effect since December 3rd, 2021,"

"This ans, before December 3rd, we didn't concern ourselves with your smuggling and illegal inco, but from the 3rd until today, you'll have to pay up every cent of your illegal inco. Understand?"

Upon hearing this, Gunter's brow instantly furrowed.

He had co prepared to lose so money to avert disaster, but he had only thought about the over 8 million for these three truckloads of goods, not considering the inclusion of previous ones.

"What's the matter, Mr. Gunter, any objections?"

"How much do I need to pay?"

David countered, "What do you think?"

"One million!"

David was amused by this statent, but still, he didn't state the amount directly.

"Two million!"

This number was almost clenched out of Gunter's teeth.

Just the seized goods required over 8 million in taxes, and adding another two million to that, it would amount to 10 million in total.

For him, this definitely qualified as a severe hemorrhage of funds!

David had no interest in dragging the conversation, and straight to the point, he said, "On December 5th, your group smuggled a batch of goods, which netted you a personal profit of two million US dollars, then on December 9th, another batch, from which you made a personal profit of 1.6 million US dollars, and on top of that..."

"From December 3rd until now, you've recorded a total of 16 million US dollars, and according to the tax rate, you need to pay 6,336,000 US dollars, not a penny less!"

As David cited each date, Gunter's face gradually dropped to an icy low.

Initially, he presud that David had sohow discovered their route and intercepted this shipnt of theirs.

But now, hearing this, he realized the investigation into their group had started who knows when.

It had even delved deep into the marrow, or else they wouldn't be so clear about the exact amount he had received during this period.

Seeing Gunter still silent, David spoke again, "Mr. Gunter, as I've said, our IRS only cares about collecting taxes. Pay up, and you're free to continue your business; we won't ddle, as long as you don't..."

David didn't continue.

But the implied threat was clear enough for Gunter to understand.

His fists clenched on his thighs, but ultimately he lacked the courage to voice any defiance, managing only to grit his teeth and say, "Fine, I'll pay!"

David's mouth widened into a grin, "Right, that's more like it. Also, it's not just you, your entire group must pay up proportionately. Don't try to ruin my good mood, got it, Mr. Gunter?"

Gunter didn't continue the conversation and accepted the terms, then stood up ready to leave.

But David called out to him again, "Oh, Mr. Gunter, this case belongs to the Main Street district, prepare the money and go pay there. No need to co to us!"

Gunter didn't respond, simply pulled open the door, and left.

anwhile, David picked up his phone and dialed Keanu's number.

"How's it going, Director David?"

"The boss of this smuggling ring just left my office. This case is almost closed, get ready to collect the taxes, and rember to transfer the funds to the mont you receive them!"

Inside the Main Street precinct office, Keanu's face lit up with joy upon hearing this, promptly asking, "Sure, no problem, but besides that batch of goods, Director David, how much else can we expect to receive?"

"The leader of the group is to pay 6,336,000 US dollars. Add the key associates, and we're looking at not less than 9 or 10 million!"

"That much..."

Upon hearing this, Keanu was montarily stunned, obviously not anticipating so much.

But quickly, his elation intensified.

Just the goods required around 8 million in tax, plus this potential 10 million, wouldn't that be 18 million?

If they could collect so much from the counterfeit money case as well, that would be incredibly fortunate!
