Fa invites controversy.

While fans and analysts alike knew football was a team sport—and Brady or Lance couldn't win gas alone—the spotlight gravitated toward the two individuals. In truth, the season opener was more about the clash between the New England Patriots and the Kansas City Chiefs.

But stories thrive on drama.

On one side was Brady: a candidate for the GOAT, a legend who had dominated the league for over a decade, etching his na into the annals of football history.

On the other side was Lance: a rookie, bursting onto the scene as an unexpected phenonon, daring to disrupt the established hierarchy with his teoric rise.

This matchup was irresistible.

Upon closer inspection, the contrast between these two players was equally fascinating.

Brady had entered the league as a sixth-round, 199th pick, defying all odds to build a storied career. Lance, anwhile, had skyrocketed to fa in a single year, selected third overall—a lofty position that invited scrutiny.

On one hand, their paths couldn't be more different.

On the other, their journeys mirrored each other in surprising ways.

The buzz refused to die down.

Adding to the intrigue, the Patriots and the Chiefs were the AFC's first and second seeds last season. A heavyweight battle between two elite teams, with or without the individual drama, was already enough to ignite excitent.

Who would open their season with a victory?

The fervent discussions generated unprecedented energy, making this the most anticipated season opener in recent years. Even fans across the Pacific in China were drawn into the spectacle.

The NFL was ready.

At the center of this maelstrom, Lance remained calm.

He wasn't focused on the chatter. Instead, he was saying goodbye—to teammates who hadn't made the final 53-man roster.

Despite understanding the harsh realities of professional football, it was difficult to part ways with those who had shared the past four months of grueling practices, sacrifices, and dreams. Together, they had chased the sa goal, only for their paths to diverge.

Watching his teammates leave, Lance couldn't help but think of his college days. He rembered Jacob, who was injured in the national championship ga; Clark, who decided to forgo a pro career; and his other Crimson Tide teammates who had entered the NFL, now scattered across the league.

So, he bid farewell to each of his teammates, hoping they'd find new opportunities. Perhaps one day they'd et again—not as teammates, but as rivals on the field.

"Never give up."

"Lance?"

Mahos's voice snapped him out of his thoughts.

"You're not hung up about him, are you?"

Mahos was referring to Josh.

When Reid announced Lance as the starting running back, Josh's expression had darkened. He hadn't said much, but his disappointnt was evident.

The dia speculation had given Josh hope, making him believe he'd earned the coaches' trust and the starting role—only for reality to crush those aspirations.

Lance turned to Mahos and blinked innocently. "Who?"

Mahos paused, then burst out laughing. "Forget it. Doesn't matter."

Josh: You've stabbed in the back.

Lance smiled and looked toward the horizon. "Have you ever seen the Kansas City sunset at seven o'clock?"

Mahos raised an eyebrow. "Are you trying to do your best Kobe Bryant impression with his '4 a.m. in L.A.' routine?"

"Ha!" Lance laughed heartily. Looking at the blazing orange sunset, he mused aloud. Morning sunrises symbolized new beginnings, but sunsets carried their own grandeur—a reflection of perseverance, preparation, and closure.

Even as they parted ways, each teammate would continue their journey, knowing they had once shared the road. Though the path forward might be solitary, they'd lit the darkness together, chasing their dreams shoulder to shoulder.

Parting wasn't just an end. It was also a new beginning, a promise of future reunions.

Mahos followed Lance's gaze to the glowing field, where the golden light and green grass blended into a dreamlike haze.

"Lance?"

"Yeah?"

"Do you think... one day we'll make it to the Super Bowl?"

Unlike Lance, Mahos was still a backup. Alex Smith held the starting quarterback role.

It made sense—quarterbacks needed ti to learn. Statistically, even legends like Manning and Brady improved with age and experience. Reid was giving Mahos the space to develop.

Still, Mahos couldn't help feeling the weight of his situation. Both he and Lance were first-round picks, but while Lance was already starting, the other rookie quarterbacks, Watson and Trubisky, were also leading their teams.

Lance studied Mahos's face, sensing the doubt he didn't voice.

"Are you worried?" Lance asked.

Mahos hesitated, then swallowed his answer.

Instead of pressing, Lance cracked a joke. "Are you asking if you'll perform during the halfti show? That's tough. Who would you choose—Rihanna or Taylor Swift?"

Mahos blinked. "Beyoncé."

Lance's jaw dropped. "Didn't expect that, Sherlock Hols. Wait, does Brittany know?"

Mahos panicked. "Lance! No! Stop!"

Lance doubled over with laughter.

Mahos groaned, realizing he'd fallen for the bait again. "Why, Patrick, why? You never learn. Every single ti..."

Lance's laughter only grew louder.

But as the mont of levity passed, Lance turned serious.

"We'll make it."

Mahos froze.

"Sherlock, we'll make it to the Super Bowl. We'll stand on football's grandest stage, push ourselves to the limit, and put everything we have on the line. We'll taste thrilling victories and endure heartbreaking defeats. But when it's all over, we'll know we gave everything we had."

"No regrets."

"Win or lose, we'll leave the field with our heads held high, knowing we fought to the end. Our future is just beginning."

The sunset spread across the sky like a golden waterfall, drenching the world in light. Lance's words echoed in the air, igniting sothing within Mahos.

The future was waiting.
