495. Back on Track!!!
A pure white light burst forth from the erald green flas.
The light, like interwoven threads, pierced through the pitch-black clouds. Anyone could feel the terrifying energy hidden deep within the stormy clouds.
The pure white light penetrated the layers of clouds, illuminating the falling raindrops around it, as if a massive hand wielding supre power was tearing through the darkness, unleashing an even more formidable brilliance.
In the distant sky, the interplay between the white light and the clouds created a breathtaking spectacle. The sea of clouds churned, the darkness receded, and the entire world was bathed in the white glow.
As the white light showered the earth, for a mont, even Holander couldn't look directly at its radiance. He instinctively raised his hand to shield his face, his body suffused with warmth.
Holander didn't understand what this was or what his opponent had done. All he could perceive was the rapid disappearance of the pain in his body.
Looking down at the grueso wound on his waist, Holander froze. The injury had inexplicably vanished, leaving behind pristine skin without a trace of the wound, as if it had never existed.
Holander's body was incredibly resilient, impervious to the highest-grade weapons. Therefore, any injuries he sustained weren't easily healed.
But now, to his astonishnt, his body had instantly returned to peak condition, and even his depleted strength was replenished.
Feeling the warmth of the dissipating white light, Holander slowly raised his head. The clouds had cleared, and the torrential rain had ceased.
Staring blankly at the scene, Holander was speechless.
He couldn't comprehend why his opponent had saved him or what their purpose could be.
"Ugh—"
Suddenly, a soft gasp ca from behind him, breaking the silence and startling Holander.
He spun around abruptly. To his shock, Starlight, whom he had personally killed monts ago, was trembling as she struggled to her feet, rubbing her head.
"This... how is this possible?!"
Holander's jaw dropped, his expression filled with disbelief.
Though he was the strongest being in the world, resurrection was a concept far beyond even his imagination.
Startled by his outburst, the newly revived Starlight grew wary. Seeing Holander staring at her with an expression as if he'd seen a ghost, she beca alard.
"Don't co any closer!"
Starlight struggled to her feet, raising her hands defensively toward Holander.
But Holander's mind was frozen. He couldn't fathom how Starlight, whom he had personally killed, could suddenly co back to life.
"What the hell... is going on?"
While Holander was still in shock, Starlight wasn't. She vividly rembered what had happened earlier—how this man had tortured her, forced her to reveal secrets, and killed everyone present.
Although she didn't know why she was alive, she wasn't about to give Holander another chance to harm her.
With this thought, Starlight channeled her powers, sending a blast toward Holander.
"…"
"…"
The atmosphere between them froze.
"What's going on?" Starlight stared at her hand in disbelief. Her once-reliable powers were now completely unresponsive.
"You dared to strike !" Holander snapped back to reality.
Looking at the panicked Starlight, Holander's face twitched as he stepped forward, grabbing her by the throat. "You damn b****, how dare you lay a hand on !"
Though he hadn't yet figured out how Starlight had co back to life, he no longer cared. Gripping her neck with his left hand, he drove his right hand toward her abdon.
With his strength, this strike should have pierced through her stomach and grabbed her spine.
But to Holander's shock, his hand failed to penetrate Starlight's abdon. He froze on the spot.
Seizing the mont, Starlight delivered a punch to Holander's face.
The sudden pain forced him to release her and stumble backward, tripping over the steps and collapsing to the ground.
Seeing Holander retreat after her punch, Starlight was equally stunned. She stared at her clenched fist, confused by her newfound strength.
No, it wasn't that her strength had increased—it was that his strength had diminished!
Turning her gaze toward the fallen Holander, Starlight tried to summon her powers again. But the light energy she had once wielded with ease refused to respond.
"My powers are gone?"
Starlight clenched her fists, realizing that her body was now no different from an ordinary human. She didn't know whether to laugh or cry.
Her self-muttering struck Holander like a hamr to the head. Finally, he understood the aning of that ominous voice.
"No more superheroes."
From now on, the world would no longer have any superpowered individuals. His own powers, Starlight's, and those of all other supes created by Vought had been stripped away by the white light.
"No!!!"
Holander gasped for air, his eyes welling up with tears.
"No! You can't take my powers! They're mine—my abilities!"
Scrambling to his feet in panic, Holander looked up at the sky where the clouds had already dispersed. His hoarse voice roared in despair.
"Give them back! Give back my powers! You can't... You can't..."
Tears stread down his face as Holander's psyche crumbled in that mont.
He looked like a child abandoned by his parents, wandering the streets alone, only to have the last scraps of food snatched away by vicious dogs. There was no hope left in his heart.
"Soone took our powers..."
At first, Starlight was startled by Holander's anguished cries. But as she observed his current state, she began piecing together the situation.
If her guess was correct, after Holander killed everyone, another unknown entity appeared. That entity not only stripped all superhumans of their abilities but also sohow revived her.
Wait a minute—if she had been resurrected, then...
Starlight quickly turned her head. On the previously silent and lifeless plaza, one by one, the "corpses" were starting to move.
Ordinary people and superheroes alike were opening their eyes once more. Even those who had been dismbered were now fully restored.
"Oh my God..."
Starlight's legs buckled, and she nearly collapsed to the ground.
At that mont, however, a steady hand caught her.
"Do I look like God to you?"
Turning sharply, Starlight saw a man who had once fought five mbers of the Seven by himself, sending four of them to the ICU.
"It's you!"
"Of course it's . Who else would it be?" Alex smiled faintly, then turned his gaze toward Holander. "Perhaps so worlds were never ant to have superpowers."
Superpowers should represent humanity's yearning for a better life—a hope to overco challenges—not a ans to fulfill selfish desires or impose one's will on others.
These powers, born from pollution, were destined to breed more corruption. Thus, as Alex had always believed, this world should not possess anything that transcended reality.
"How did you do it?" Starlight asked, her curiosity getting the better of her.
"How did I do it? If you're asking about reviving all of you, in a world free of divine interference, your souls would simply dissipate over ti. With my current abilities, repairing your bodies and reuniting your souls wasn't particularly difficult."
Alex smiled again, then continued. "As for the superpowers, I rely rewrote the rules of this world. When the formula for Compound V no longer holds, your superpowered genes naturally collapse, reverting you all back to normal humans."
"Shh..."
Listening to Alex calmly explain such terrifying concepts, Starlight felt her entire body go numb. Though he was still supporting her, she felt an icy chill enveloping her.
"Annie!"
At that mont, a shout ca from the distance.
Both of them turned toward the sound and saw a thin man waving his hand amid the crowd of revived individuals.
"Hughie!" Starlight exclaid, her face lighting up with joy.
anwhile, Alex's gaze shifted to another figure among the crowd—Butcher.
Though they were far apart, they exchanged a look that conveyed their thoughts without words.
Butcher's expression was grim. In the mont Holander had killed him, he truly believed Alex had betrayed him. Now, however, his emotions were a tangled ss, so complicated that he didn't know what to do.
Alex, on the other hand, simply smiled faintly and nodded, silently signaling that he had fulfilled their agreent.
"It's you! You're the one behind all of this!"
Suddenly, an enraged shout shattered the mont, drawing everyone's attention.
Holander staggered to his feet, his finger trembling as he pointed at Alex, his face twisted with rage.
"You bastard! Give back my powers!"
Many of those present were still processing their recent resurrection. Now, seeing the enraged and desperate Holander brought back buried mories of their demise.
Holander charged at Alex, tears and snot streaming down his face as he shouted.
"Give them back! Give them back to !"
But he hadn't taken more than two steps before a fist sent him crashing to the ground.
"You defective product, where do you think you're going? We're not done yet."
A gravelly voice rang out as Soldier Boy leapt down from a statue, his eyes filled with fury and bloodlust.
Even though he had lost all his superpowers, Soldier Boy was still a seasoned warrior with a powerful physique—sothing Holander couldn't match.
And it wasn't just Soldier Boy. The civilians around the plaza, now fully recovered, also stood up one by one, slowly encircling Holander.
"W-What are you all doing?!"
Holander clutched his face, panicking as the crowd closed in on him. He struggled to lift off the ground, desperate to escape.
But no matter how hard he tried, gravity held him firmly in place.
Watching the scene unfold, Alex's face finally broke into a smile.
"At last..."
"Everything is back on track."
