476. Movents from All Sides.
Having co from the Supernaturals universe, Alex knew from the mont he projected his soul into this world that this body was not his best choice.
Although this "David" could endure his soul, it didn't an this body could handle the vast energy he possessed.
This beca evident during the battle with the Seven, where after freely switching between various superhero abilities, it was clear that this body's capacity was nearing its limit.
Stretching out his hand, Alex watched as scarlet cracks spread from his palm up his arm, his expression mixed with complexity.
Though he had suspected it before, seeing it happen for real was still a bit beyond what Alex had anticipated.
Now, he finally understood why Lucifer always fought with punches and physical combat after possessing a host.
It wasn't that Lucifer didn't want to use his wings, but the mont he made a larger movent, this body would produce irreparable cracks, and once it reached its limit, it would explode into fragnts.
If this body was seen as equipnt, then its durability was now almost at its lowest. To remain here, Alex needed to find a more suitable body.
If his guess was correct, like Lucifer and Michael's exclusive vessels, Sam and Dean, there should be a body for him in this world as well.
The problem was how to find it, and more importantly, even if he found it, how to convince the person to allow him to possess it.
On the other side, Vought had beco like ants on a hot pan.
Holander, following Edgar, attended various press conferences and events. In front of countless caras and spotlights, he maintained a smile and recited the sa old script.
To calm the public's malice and fear, Holander continuously made statents in favor of superhumans, and along with Edgar, pushed the bla for the human experintation and Compound V incidents onto Madelyn.
"I really don't want to believe that Madelyn would secretly do sothing so inhumane."
In front of the caras, Holander's smile trembled at the corners of his mouth.
"This is an extre incident. Even I can't accept it. I understand all the actions of the people because they are what you should do. She committed such a heinous cri, and the consequences are what she deserves."
His pupils sowhat froze as he stared at the spotlight, not blinking once, continuing to speak without pause.
"I once believed that Madelyn was my role model, the future of Vought, but the truth is, she lied to ."
"Regarding Compound V, after discovering what Madelyn had done, we took imdiate action to prevent things from getting worse. Please trust us."
"Finally, I want to say…"
He paused and took a deep breath.
"Madelyn has been arrested, and Congress will provide answers regarding the details."
After finishing, Holander staggered back two steps and left the podium.
At this mont, the reporters below surged forward, bombarding him with questions, hoping he would respond.
"Is Madelyn really the mastermind behind everything?"
"Why was Madelyn able to secretly carry out so many cris? Is there anyone else behind her?"
"Are there others like Madelyn within Vought?"
"Please, Madelyn…"
"Madelyn…"
"Madelyn…"
The cara flashes continued to blink in front of Holander's eyes, and his mind seed to freeze. Staring at the faces locked on him, he suddenly felt a sense of suffocation.
As a life born from a test tube, Holander had no parents. Growing up, all he had were cold machines and white coats.
The lab personnel never showed him any affection. To Vought's scientists, Holander wasn't their "child" but their most perfect "creation."
Yet, he was also their most catastrophic failure.
Because he lacked the love that cos from a family during his childhood, the scientists suddenly realized that this superhuman, who had erged from the lab with invincible combat power, had already lost the most basic sense of humanity.
Holander was extrely individualistic and had severe tendencies toward extremism. He didn't care about human life or anyone else because his personality was twisted and violently inclined. This likely proved a saying—'a child without parents can do anything.'
For Holander, the only person who had ever shown him a mother's care as he grew up was probably Madelyn.
Although Holander often acted recklessly, no matter what ss he caused, Madelyn would always care for him, protect him, and try to influence him with the most caring love, making him feel, for the first ti, like he had a family.
But now...
Everything had changed.
To preserve Vought, to maintain the Seven, and to keep his current position, Holander had to step up, sever his connection with Madelyn, and read the script Edgar had prepared for him, reciting Madelyn's "cris" one by one with the most heartless words.
He even had to watch as Madelyn was investigated for these baseless charges, knowing that he couldn't do anything. If he acted, everything would be ruined beyond repair.
The voices around him grew quieter, and the smile on Holander's face faded, eventually turning into a bitter expression, one that was devoid of sincerity.
Looking at the reporters who rushed forward, still eager to ask more questions, Holander felt a surge of anger and murderous intent rising within him. Fortunately, Edgar stepped up to the podium in ti, speaking in a calm tone.
"Holander is human, too. Madelyn's betrayal has deeply hurt him. I hope everyone can give him so trust and ti. The rest of the questions will be answered by ."
One thing that had to be admitted was that Edgar's presence was undeniably strong. The mont he spoke, all attention shifted to him.
Seeing this, the reporters turned their focus to Edgar, bombarding him with the sa questions they had asked Holander, signaling for him to respond.
Holander didn't know what happened next. He wandered out of the press hall, taking one step after another, leaving the scene.
He didn't even rember how he got back to the Vought Tower. He arrived at Madelyn's office and slowly sat down at the desk where she used to sit.
His tightly clenched fists trembled slightly, and Holander's expression grew increasingly twisted. His features contorted as he silently scread, and two lines of hot tears flowed from his eyes.
He didn't understand what had happened to the world.
Why had everything changed so suddenly?
Every ti he thought the world was getting better, so new trouble would erge, draining him of energy.
This ti, without any warning, the people who once revered him had turned against him, protesting. If he made a wrong move, he would fall from his position as the world's greatest hero.
He wasn't sure how long he could endure. Without Madelyn, Holander felt lost once again. For the first ti, he experienced the feeling of losing his family, a feeling that tortured his heart endlessly.
anwhile, at the secret airport prepared by Colonel Mallory for Butcher and the others, Butcher finally t the "teammates" Alex had recomnded.
"Oi, I believe you must be Cindy, just as Alex said."
Seeing the woman with a crew cut leading the group, Butcher smiled and approached, but his vigilance remained unchanged.
"That's ."
Cindy nodded silently. Behind her, the group of superpowered individuals who had escaped from the Asylum were all present.
"You can also call Master of Minds."
Apart from the Lamplighter, Kash, Rachel, Allen, and Sue were all present. To facilitate their actions, the Lamplighter had given each of them a code na. This would help conceal their identities while allowing others to quickly identify their abilities.
After being enhanced by Alex, their powers had significantly increased.
Kash's code na was "Jetstream," representing his flying and levitation abilities. Rachel's code na was "Poison Dart Frog," as all the liquids he sprayed now had corrosive effects.
Allen's code na was "Shaker," as his strength and physical attributes had been greatly enhanced. Sue's code na was "Electromagnetic Woman," and her abilities hadn't changed much.
"Master of Minds, huh..."
Butcher nodded silently, glancing back at his teammates. From their looks, Butcher could sense their deep confusion.
People in their line of work rarely gave such "heroic" code nas.
Turning back, Butcher grinned.
"Then you can call Butcher."
