Chapter 958: Chapter 882: The Conservative Faction Thinks the Radical Faction Is Too Conservative Chapter 958: Chapter 882: The Conservative Faction Thinks the Radical Faction Is Too Conservative The lounge fell silent for a mont.

The three chairs of the Academy’s executive committee, all Hollywood old-tirs who had been in the business for decades, undoubtedly understood the subtext in Martin’s words.

“Europe and Australia have long been regulars at the Oscars,” Tom Sherak said seriously, considering what Martin had said, “As for other places, Asia… the world’s second-largest film market, used to be very passionate about the Oscars and willing to invest money.”

He was not familiar with the specifics there, “I don’t know why, but in recent years their interest in the Oscars has greatly diminished, and the number of films and companies coming over for the Oscars has dropped significantly.”

Others might not know, but Martin understood that they were gradually regaining confidence. Although there were still plenty of ‘this soft-boned ones’, in many people’s eyes the only real competitor was Arica.

The ntality had changed, and naturally so had the attitude toward the Oscars.

Martin thought for a mont and said, “In recent years, I’ve been going to East Asia frequently for promotions and have found that the film circles in Japan and South Korea are very enthusiastic about the Oscars, especially South Korea. They have always been a dumping ground for our films, and if the Academy were to promote over there in a tily manner, just showing a little attitude, those…people would certainly co over and go crazy for the Oscars. There’s no lack of money in the Korean entertainnt industry.”

“That’s right, we just need to throw them a bone, and they’ll co charging,” Catherine Kennedy added, not only an actress and producer but also a successful businesswoman.

She had been to South Korea several tis and knew how dogs were particularly eager for their master’s honor.

“That’s a good strategy,” Tom Hanks said further, “Not just Japan and Korea, but other Southeast Asian and South Arican markets are also good. Hollywood is open, and the Academy encourages internationalization.”

His heyday was exactly when Hollywood films broke out of North Arica and began to sweep the global film market. At that ti, many Hollywood directors and stars would cast their sights across the world.

This strategy was undoubtedly suitable for the Oscars.

Tom Sherak directly said, “After this awards ceremony, it is necessary for us to organize a cultural exchange group and make a trip to Japan and Korea.”

With that, there was no need for Martin to say anything more.

After consulting with his colleagues for a mont, Tom Sherak turned to Martin and said, “On behalf of the executive committee, I thank you for your suggestion.”

Martin responded, “Don’t ntion it, I’m a mber of the Academy as well.”

Catherine Kennedy and Tom Hanks also expressed their thanks in turn.

Martin shook hands with them one by one and took his leave from the lounge.

These favors might co in handy at so point. Although the Academy’s executive committee holds elections every year, under normal circumstances, it’s possible for chairs and vice-chairs to remain in their positions for many years.

Like the previous Academy President, Sidney Ganis, had it not been for health issues, he might have continued the role.

Eliza had been silent throughout. Once out of the lounge, she couldn’t help but ask curiously in a low voice, “Can Korean films win major Oscar awards?”

Martin thought for a mont and replied, “It’s not unprecedented for a foreign film to win the Best Picture at the Oscars. The Oscars are like the Nobel Prize; winning is not only about your achievents but also about where you’re seated.”

Eliza thought of sothing, “Like the one from the White House who got the Nobel Peace Prize?”

Martin laughed, “Even the Aricans thought that was absurd.”

The special dinner was drawing to a close, and the guests were leaving one by one.

Martin and Eliza returned ho, and Bruce had co back from Europe.

Eliza took Lily, who was clinging to Martin, upstairs, leaving so space for Martin and Bruce alone.

Martin called Bruce to the study.

Bruce said, “It’s basically settled over in Kiev; Alexandrovich’s controlled security bureau and an army unit raided the Privat Group, captured the group’s top executives including Igor, seized the Privat Group’s assets, and then put them up for sale to the public. We got them at a low price.”

Martin touched on a key point, “Sell them as soon as possible.”

“No problem,” Bruce replied, “We’ve already found a buyer, and we expect to sell it within half a year.”

Martin nodded, “Good.”

Bruce added, “Later this year, Alexandrovich might visit Arica. The specifics are currently being coordinated; the exact date hasn’t been determined yet.”

Hearing this, Martin imdiately recalled so affairs from his past life and said, “Before Alexandrovich visits Arica, dispose of all the Privat Group’s assets.”

“No problem, there’s plenty of ti,” Bruce assured. Then he asked, “Are you worried?”

Martin replied, “The political environnt over there is always sowhat unstable; dragging on might lead to unexpected complications.”

Bruce said, “I’m going back to Europe in three days.”

“There’s no rush in these few days,” Martin said, thinking about the many won in Bruce’s life, “Jody, Kim, Cohler around there, you need to go… ‘comfort’ them, oh, and Kendall too.”

Uncharacteristically, Bruce didn’t argue and instead looked at his watch, “I’m off to see Jody.”

Martin waved a hand, “Go ahead.”

As for Bruce and the Kardashian sisters’ affairs, Martin just spoke of them casually.

After all, he was as much a scoundrel as Old Cloth.

Martin left the study, went upstairs to the master bedroom, where Lily and Eliza, fresh from a bath, were waiting for him.

The three were already accustod to sleeping in the sa room.

In the lead-up to the Oscar ceremony, Martin stayed in Los Angeles, focusing on managing the studio’s film and TV projects.

“Border Killer,” directed by Denis Villeneuve, had completed the final editing, and Disney Studios would bring the movie to the big screen in April, before the sumr blockbusters.
