The negotiation fell through, and Dwayne Johnson and his entourage soon said their goodbyes and left.

Thomas remarked, "He seems to have a high opinion of the project you picked."

Martin, recalling past mories, responded, "It's quite normal. The male lead in the original screenplay fits the image he's always been building perfectly."

Judging by today's circumstances, if it hadn't been for him discovering "Doomsday Collapse" early and having first choice within WMA, that script would likely have been snatched up by Dwayne Johnson.

"You are the company's top priority." Thomas, whose rank at the agency was several levels higher than Raymond's, stated, "Don't worry about them. Proceed with the project as planned."

Martin montarily set the matter aside and continued browsing through WMA's database.

This ti, there were no new discoveries.

During that period, he received a call from Alexandra Daddario, who invited him out for drinks that night.

Martin readily agreed and directed her to the Ritz-Carlton Hotel directly.

Alexandra had just finished shooting "Border Killer" and was in Los Angeles for the post-production dubbing work.

Unfortunately, Catherine Daddario wasn't in Los Angeles, which was a slight imperfection.

Just as Alexandra's call ended, Martin's phone rang again, this ti from Leonardo.

"That bastard, co out for drinks. Jack and I are heading to Avalon Bar soon, you should co!" He reminded Martin specifically, "Rember to bring a date."

"Tonight?" Martin pondered for a mont, "Alright, but you guys wait a bit. I need to have a chat with Emanuel first."

Leonardo responded, "Fine, we'll wait for you."

Martin turned and called Alexandra back, "Change of plans, go to Avalon Bar first and wait for . By the way, Leo and Jack might get there before , so if they do, wait together with them for a while."

Alexandra agreed, "I'm on my way."

Martin hung up the phone, left the office with Thomas, and went to the adjacent reception room where Ari Emanuel was waiting.

This year was Martin's contract year, and Thomas wasn't worried about renewing Martin's agency contract. Over the past few years, he was quite clear that as long as he worked diligently for Martin, Martin wouldn't switch agents.

Even if Martin wanted to change agencies, Thomas would simply follow Martin to a new one.

However, Ari Emanuel had other thoughts. Martin was WMA's marquee client, bringing in the highest annual inco for the agency in Hollywood. Every sizable agency desired to poach Martin.

WMA had no choice, while Martin had plenty.

In the reception room, Emanuel, smiling, said to Martin, "We've had a very pleasant collaboration these past years. WMA's commission is consistently the lowest in the industry. Between us…"

Understanding his aning, Martin directly replied, "After the contract expires, I'll renew with WMA for another three years."

Hearing this, Emanuel let out a sigh of relief, but it wasn't ti to relax completely. Martin could only renew the agency contract with WMA at the beginning of the next year.

Damn California law, look at those South Korean counterparts, how enviable.

Emanuel also had the leverage to strive for Martin's commitnt, saying, "Ram will give you unwavering support on his part."

Martin smiled and said, "I hope we'll have even more pleasant cooperation in the future."

Emanuel stood up and shook hands with Martin; whether to renew the contract or not, the initiative was entirely in Martin's hands.

Martin hadn't considered changing agencies just yet.

To put it bluntly, as WMA's top client, the entire company was at his beck and call.

Other agencies had approached him, but none offered genuinely attractive terms.

Better the devil you know.

...

Back in agent Ray Parker's office, Dwayne Johnson wasn't in the best of spirits. He was interested in a project that had already been snatched away, leaving his mood sowhat sour.

Moreover, he wasn't the carefree person he seed on the surface; rather, he could be quite nitpicky.

Ray Parker tried to console him, "The rights are already in Martin Davis's hands now; we can't do anything even if we want to. Each month, the company gets new scripts, and we will eventually find one that suits you."

His ex-wife and manager Garcia knew Johnson better: "Go clear your head, invite so friends for a drink; you'll feel better."

"I'm fine." Johnson flashed his signature smile and pulled out his phone to call soone, "Ray, what are you up to? Co out for a drink."

Ray Parker, a friend Johnson made during the filming of "G.I. Joe," replied, "Sure thing, I was just thinking of hitting a nightclub. Avalon Bar, my treat."

Johnson said, "Great, see you at the bar in twenty minutes."

Garcia patted Johnson's upper arm, thicker than her thigh, "Go on then, a good drink can wash away your troubles."

Johnson left the office, quickly going downstairs by himself, drove his rcedes G-Class straight to Avalon Bar on Sunset Boulevard.

Upon arriving at the bar, Ray Parker, who lived near Sunset Boulevard, was already there.

The two found a booth and ordered a slew of drinks.

Avalon Bar, and the opposing Grapevine Manor, were nightclubs frequented by Hollywood stars, located in Beverly Hills, one of the most bustling areas of Sunset Strip.

Johnson had just sat down when Gal Gadot, who co-starred with him in the "Fast & Furious" series, ca over to greet him.

Having a familiar relationship, Johnson managed a few words and sent her on her way.

Ray Parker, eyeing the departing long legs, inquired, "What, not interested in her?"

Johnson shrugged and flexed his pecs. In his tight T-shirt, his well-developed chest muscles jiggled, "What's the point? A girl with a chest smaller than mine? Touching her is less satisfying than touching myself."
