“Sothing happened!”
Damour Bral arrived at Shaw Gordon’s office with a look of panic mixed with anger.
Shaw Gordon looked at Damour Bral and asked, “Damour, what has made you so panicked? Could it be that a war has broken out sowhere?”
“What’s so strange about a war!” Damour Bral exclaid, “I just got the news that Paul Warburg has joined forces with Donnie Block to acquire shares from other shareholders in our company!”
“What?”
The smile on Shaw Gordon’s face vanished instantly, “How is that possible?”
Damour Bral exclaid, “Do you think I would joke with you about sothing like this?”
Shaw Gordon showed a look of panic, “How much have they acquired?”
When he asked this question, Shaw Gordon already felt a sense of despair. The New Jersey Consortium and Kuhn, Loeb & Co. consortium teaming up to acquire shares of their company—once they know about this, it essentially ans that this matter is nearing its end.
Sure enough, the answer from Damour Bral shattered the last glimr of hope in Shaw Gordon’s heart!
“Their combined ownership of Gordon-Blalock Securities’ shares has exceeded 51%!”
Shaw Gordon sat on the sofa dejectedly, “How did those two join forces?”
Damour Bral, realizing the situation late, said, “We were too naive. Donnie Block and the Warburg Family were allied from the start, and it’s ridiculous that we thought we could sit back and watch them fight!”
Shaw Gordon asked timidly, “What should we do now?”
Damour Bral cald down and said, “This news was just notified to by a call from Paul Warburg, which indicates they probably don’t want to take the company’s control. Paul Warburg must be upset about us bringing in Venus Bank as a company shareholder earlier, and it seems our previous apology wasn’t accepted by him!”
Shaw Gordon asked tentatively, “So you an we could still negotiate over the company’s control issue?”
Damour Bral nodded, “That’s right. If they really wanted to take over the company’s control, Paul Warburg wouldn’t have called . He’s probably waiting for us to apologize again.”
Shaw Gordon picked up his coat and said, “What are we waiting for then? Let’s go!”
In terms of capitulating, Shaw Gordon was quite straightforward!
Damour Bral had no objections to this. If they wanted to maintain control of the company at this ti, they had no choice but to bow to Paul Warburg.
As for why not Donnie, it’s because Damour Bral knew the call ca from Paul Warburg, indicating that Paul Warburg was leading the acquisition of Gordon-Blalock Securities’ shares.
The two of them drove in the sa car towards the Warburg Company headquarters.
“Damour, the Kuhn, Loeb & Co. consortium probably doesn’t have that much cash right now. Where did Paul Warburg get the money to acquire these shareholder shares?”
Shaw Gordon asked curiously while driving.
Damour Bral pondered, “I don’t know either, but for a consortium like them, raising such funds shouldn’t be an issue!”
Shaw Gordon sighed deeply, “This ti we truly outsmarted ourselves!”
Damour Bral sat in the passenger seat, also looking troubled.
They arrived at the Warburg Company, but didn’t et Paul Warburg imdiately, instead they were left waiting for two hours before being allowed to see him.
By then, both had no thoughts of dissatisfaction. The only thing on their minds was seeking Paul Warburg’s forgiveness and retaining their control over Gordon-Blalock Securities.
“Mr. Warburg, we were wrong!”
Upon seeing Paul Warburg, Shaw Gordon and Damour Bral didn’t hesitate or offer any excuses, directly admitting their mistakes to Paul Warburg.
Paul Warburg sat on the sofa, with smoke rising from the cigar in his hand.
“What do you an by this?”
Shaw Gordon replied, “Mr. Warburg, by bringing Venus Bank into Gordon-Blalock Securities earlier, we wanted to use Venus Bank to restrain you, and we were wrong in that!”
Since Shaw Gordon had laid it out so frankly, Paul Warburg didn’t hold back anymore.
“Hmph! How co I never noticed you two were so displeased with before? If I’d known sooner, I wouldn’t have supported your rise!”
Damour Bral said with his head lowered, “Mr. Warburg, we were blinded by power, and we were wrong in this matter!”
Paul Warburg leaned back on the sofa and asked, “Do you know why I didn’t convene a board eting for Gordon-Blalock Securities, but instead just called you both?”
Naturally, it’s so we would take the initiative to apologize to you!
Shaw Gordon and Damour Bral both inwardly grumbled, but they certainly didn’t dare speak it.
Damour Bral said, “That’s because Mr. Warburg knows we’re still useful, and wants to give us another chance!”
“Heh!” Paul Warburg laughed coldly without reservation, “I admit you both have so abilities, but any company can function normally without anyone, even its founders. You truly think your roles make fearful?”
