Donnie pondered for a mont and said, “That’s indeed an interesting idea. If this were to happen, we’d all be family in the future, which would undoubtedly foster better collaboration.”
Upon hearing this, Shaw Gordon and Damour Blalock nodded imdiately.
Donnie smiled and asked, “But regarding this matter, aren’t the two of you planning to consult with other shareholders in your company first?”
Gordon-Blalock Securities was indeed founded by Shaw Gordon and Damour Blalock. However, for the company’s developnt, the two had already recruited many shareholders before the firm went public. Among these was the Kuhn, Loeb & Co. consortium!
As a result, while the two were the largest shareholders in Gordon-Blalock Securities, they no longer held an absolute controlling interest.

Donnie nodded slightly and said, “I must admit, your proposal is indeed quite compelling. However, as partners, it’s essential that we are honest with each other. So, I need to tell you both that even if Venus Bank becos a shareholder in Gordon-Blalock Securities, I cannot entrust all matters regarding United Artists’ public offering to your firm. At most, I can allocate a portion from Goldman’s share for you to handle.”
Shaw Gordon and Damour Blalock showed a hint of disappointnt. Naturally, they had hoped to take on the entirety of the allocation.
However, after their initial disappointnt, they managed to convince themselves internally.

Later, upon leaving the ABC building, the two returned to their firm and imdiately drafted handwritten letters to the shareholders of Gordon-Blalock Securities, explaining the situation and their rationale.

“Let’s set right or wrong aside for now. My question is: Why didn’t you consult with beforehand?” Paul Warburg remained evidently displeased.
