Chapter 875: 299, Strategic Vision_2
Felix Warburg: “…”
It was clear that Felix Warburg’s interdiary this ti had not been successful.
He had no choice but to leave Atlantic City in disappointnt.
What Felix Warburg didn’t know was that soon after he had left, Janine Woburg arrived at the Surf Hotel with a smile on her face.
Since that day, Donnie had t with Janine Woburg a few tis. After initially feeling awkward, she began to act more naturally around Donnie.
“Where’s Felix?”
After arriving at Donnie’s office, Janine Woburg curiously looked around, hoping to find Felix Warburg.
Their uncle-niece relationship wasn’t actually that deep; the number of tis Janine Woburg had seen this uncle could be counted on one hand.
But now, being in a foreign place, she felt a strong sense of connection to her blood relatives.
Donnie said with a hint of apology, “I’m sorry, I had hoped to keep Felix here in Atlantic City for dinner, but obviously, he had important matters to attend to. After our talk, he left in a hurry.”
The look of disappointnt was clear on Janine Woburg’s face.
Seeing her expression, Donnie said, “If you want to see them, I can have a car prepared for you. Go to Philadelphia or New York for a few days, and when you get tired of it, co back!”
Janine Woburg shook her head dejectedly, “No need, perhaps for them, my staying in Atlantic City is more beneficial!”
Donnie didn’t continue on this topic, but instead, took out a bouquet of roses from under his desk, “I had planned to give this to you during dinner tonight, but since you’re here, I’ll give it to you now!”
Then Donnie got up, approached Janine Woburg, and handed her the roses with both hands: “Happy Birthday!”
Janine Woburg covered her mouth with her hand, “How did you know it’s my birthday today?”
Donnie replied with a smile, “Naturally, Felix told . He asked to wish you a happy birthday on his behalf!”
Janine Woburg took the fresh flowers from Donnie’s hand, her eyes reddening as she said, “Thank you!”
Donnie continued with a smile, “I’ve already had the restaurant prepare a dinner that fits the Hamburg, Germany taste for you. We’ll celebrate your birthday properly then!”
“Hmm!” Janine Woburg nodded heavily.
Afterward, Janine Woburg left Donnie’s office with a complicated expression on her face.
As for how Janine Woburg knew Felix Warburg was in Atlantic City, naturally, Donnie had Steve Cotting tell her, but this notification was given after Felix Warburg had left Atlantic City!
After Janine Woburg left, Donnie returned to the seaside manor.
“Do you think the Woburg Family will co up with the funds to support Adolf Ochs?”
Helen, holding her belly, asked Donnie as she sat on the sofa.
Peeling an orange for her, Donnie laughed, “That’s for sure, The New York Tis is one of the most important mouthpieces for the Jewish People in the United States. They will definitely not allow The New York Tis to face any severe problems. After all, there are quite a few people eyeing The New York Tis, so once I strongly declined their proposal, they understood that, going forward, they would need to prepare to deal with a lawsuit and that would inevitably an a substantial financial expense.”
Adolf Ochs, though a billionaire, has more of his cash invested in stocks and real estate and does not have much liquid cash at hand, so he will definitely be seeking support from the Woburg Family.
The Woburg Family has no reason to refuse!
Donnie’s assertiveness is indeed strong, but it’s also purposeful.
It’s similar to dragging the Kuhn, Loeb & Co. consortium of the Woburg Family into the investnts in Atlantic City; Donnie wants to deplete the Woburg Family’s cash reserves as much as possible.
“This is a reply from my father to you!” Helen took out a letter from the table and handed it to Donnie: “I have already conveyed your thoughts to my father, and he should support you!”
In order to deplete the Woburg Family and Adolf Ochs’ cash as much as possible, it’s not enough just to have them form an expensive legal team; the most crucial thing is to prolong the duration of the lawsuit. The longer it lasts, the more money Adolf Ochs will have to spend.
It’s like boiling a frog in warm water, making the opponent invest little by little.
So, they would need the support of William Howard Taft.
Therefore, after this incident, Donnie had Helen write a letter to her father, William Howard Taft, ntioning this.
Donnie happily opened the letter, and William Howard Taft’s reply was highly supportive of Donnie’s ideas, not only because of Donnie’s relationship with Helen, but also because such actions were very beneficial to William Howard Taft himself.
The Taft Family is the most loyal of Republicans, and although Robert Taft has failed multiple tis in his presidential bids, he is still referred to as Mr. Republican.
And The New York Tis now serves essentially as the mouthpiece of the Democratic Party, which is already enough reason for the Taft Family to support Donnie!
Helen reminded Donnie, “Although such actions would make Adolf Ochs spend more cash, we will also have to pay expensive lawyer fees!”
