Chapter 753: 258. To recall the Speaker_3
“Can’t wait?” Damai Jas didn’t understand Donnie’s implication for a mont, “But if not this way, do we have any other options?”
Donnie replied calmly, “I rember that if the Speaker encounters a major issue, the assembly can initiate an impeachnt proposal against the Speaker!”
In the history of the United States, Speakers of the House of Representatives usually stepped down after their party lost the majority of seats, and indeed their constitution does include the right to recall, but such cases have almost never occurred in the United States. The only ti, in fact, was that old lady….
So when Donnie ntioned this suggestion, Damai Jas was stunned.
He hadn’t expected Donnie to be so decisive, to impeach Aman Louis—if this were to succeed, it would definitely cause a huge tsunami.
“Without a shocking enough piece of news, this matter won’t be good for us!” Even though his heart was already set on becoming the New Jersey State Assembly Speaker, Damai Jas still thought Donnie’s idea was a bit too crazy.
...
“You don’t need to worry about this, I will cook up this matter, and what you need to do is hype it up for within the assembly!”
Having made up his mind, Donnie naturally had thought of solutions!
Damai Jas was seriously considering Donnie’s suggestion. For Donnie, perhaps failing wouldn’t have too much of an impact, but it was different for him.
As an assemblyman, if he took the initiative to propose the impeachnt of the Speaker and failed, he would lose the respect of everyone within the assembly.
His political career would be over!
“I have to say, your idea is truly too crazy, Donnie; it’s so crazy that I am unable right now to give you an exact answer. Perhaps you could give so ti to consider it?”
Donnie shook his head, “You no longer have the luxury of ti to consider, I can’t keep waiting on this matter. If, Damai, you find this plan too crazy and it worries you, you can choose not to participate in the plan. But I hope that when soone else brings up this proposal in the future, you will cast a ‘yes’ vote!”
Donnie couldn’t possibly have only one staunch ally like Damai Jas within the New Jersey assembly!
Hearing Donnie speak like this, Damai Jas guessed as much, making him feel sowhat helpless. He was engaged in a fierce internal battle, struggling to decide whether to agree to Donnie’s demand!
In the end, Damai Jas gritted his teeth and said, “Alright, I will fully support your plan, Donnie!”
The lure of becoming Speaker was too great, so great that Damai Jas was willing to take the risk!
Seeing Damai Jas agree, Donnie also showed a smile and said, “Damai, perhaps you don’t know yet, but my company has established a legal departnt. Although this legal departnt can solve many troubles, I still hope to have more legal weaponry for my company, so I have a thought. Perhaps my company can enter into a deeper collaboration with your company, for instance, most legal matters for my company in New Jersey could be handled by your firm!”
Donnie always believed that the strongest guarantee for cooperation between two sides was a deep binding of mutual interests.
Indeed, upon hearing Donnie’s plan, the last bit of worry in Damai Jas’s heart disappeared. Although Donnie didn’t specify which company, he believed Donnie would not be giving him just a small company’s legal business.
Just look at the companies in Donnie’s hands: ABC, Starry dia, Surf Hotel, United States Logistics, Apollo Chain, and so on. The legal business from just one company would be more than enough for him to feast on!
“Dear Donnie, I cannot express in words my fondness for you now; rest assured, I will perfectly coordinate with your actions!”
After solidifying their plan, the two began to analyze the situation with the assembly mbers in the state. To impeach Arman Louis, they would need more assembly mbers’ votes; their task was to get these mbers aboard Donnie’s ship!
When Robert arrived in Trenton, Damai Jas hadn’t left yet.
During lunch, Alice inford Donnie that there was an important phone call for him.
Donnie returned to his study to answer the call. It was George Whitney from Morgan calling!
“Donnie, I’ll get straight to the point, let’s talk about your situation with Arman,” George Whitney said candidly.
“I know this matter is very difficult for you, but as a friend, I still hope you can drop the idea of building the Trident Shipyard in Cape May. Morgan will be very grateful for your decision on this matter!”
Donnie also asked bluntly, “George, since you’ve called, can you just give a straight answer? To what extent is Morgan really involved in this matter, are you staying out of it or getting directly involved?”
If it were Morgan getting directly involved, Donnie would decisively abandon his plan. Although Donnie had defeated Morgan multiple tis before, this did not an that Donnie was stronger than Morgan.
In terms of hard power, the gap between Donnie and Morgan was still very significant.
Although it seed like the assembly mbers in New Jersey didn’t have much contact with Morgan, Donnie believed that Morgan could certainly influence many mbers’ votes!
“All right, we at Morgan actually value our relationship with you more, Donnie. But considering Arman’s influence, we feel we need to make this call!”
