Chapter 736: 253, Shocking Results

The Apollo Chain was in a heated promotional battle with A&P, and the ones who were most thrilled were the consurs and the dia.

Consurs were happy because they could purchase goods they needed at the lowest prices…well, even if not needed, it didn’t matter, they might as well stock up. Aricans don’t dislike storing things, they just simply lack the budget for this kind of expense!

The dia were overjoyed because the battle provided them with rich material to report on extensively, allowing them to sell higher volus of their newspapers.

“This promotional battle shows no signs of ending; the Arican people’s revelry continues!”

The New York Tis, deeply embroiled in New York, provided such coverage today.

In their view, the battle was sure to go on. It was common knowledge that Donnie Block had a massive amount of cash at hand, and now there were rumors that A&P had received support from both Morgan and Wachovia banks to cover their cash shortfall.

...

After reading this news, the citizens of New York were exceptionally excited, sharpening their knives, ready to continue shopping. After all, it was all about buy, buy, buy!

Jas Cuff sat on the sofa in his hotel suite, with a deep frown on his brow.

“Has John been in Kansas City for five days now?”

Jas Cuff asked his assistant, Peter Yada.

Peter Yada nodded, “That’s right!”

“Has John called back to update on the negotiations with Donnie Block?”

“No, but whether Mr. John Hartford has made any calls to the A&P board, we don’t know!”

Jas Cuff massaged his temples, his mood had been off these past few days, inexplicably irritable, with an ominous premonition looming over his head.

As John Hartford’s ally, it would be logical for John to update him on his negotiations with Donnie Block. Yet, five days had passed, and he hadn’t received a single call from John Hartford, an abnormal situation that made Jas Cuff sowhat anxious.

After so thought, Jas Cuff couldn’t help it and took the initiative to dial John Hartford’s hotel room in Kansas City.

Just then, there was a knock on his door, and Peter Yada stood up to answer it.

On the other end, John Hartford also picked up the phone…

But before Jas Cuff had a chance to ask about the progress of the negotiations with Donnie Block, he saw a young man in a gray suit walk in.

He recognized the young man; it was the husband of Maholi, the president of the Grain Empire Food Company, Walker Astor, the current helmsman of the Astor Family!

.

Julie Mina was an employee at a clothing store in New York, and her biggest anticipation every day was waiting to get off work and then head to the Apollo Chain for a stroll. In fact, over the past month, Julie Mina had already sufficiently stocked up on all the goods her household needed, but she couldn’t resist visiting the Apollo Chain daily.

After all, the goods there were too cheap, so cheap that visiting the Apollo Chain had beco a habit in her life!

Today was no exception for Julie Mina. After work, she took her handbag and went to the Apollo Chain next to the clothing store, planning to see if there was anything she needed.

But today, Julie Mina clearly noticed that sothing was different inside the Apollo Chain.

The promotional signs were gone, and there were a lot fewer custors than before.

Perplexed, Julie Mina approached an Apollo Chain salesperson to ask about the current situation.

“Hello, ma’am, the thing is, our Apollo Chain’s promotional event has ended. Starting today, all goods in the store will return to their normal prices,” the Apollo Chain salesperson explained with a smile.

Julie Mina’s face changed color. Although she didn’t particularly need to buy anything today, the sudden news that the Apollo Chain was no longer running promotions made her feel like she had lost several million dollars.

“But The New York Tis explicitly reported that your promotion was going to last a lot longer?”

Julie Mina said sowhat urgently.

“The New York Tis was rely speculating, and they have no relationship with us. We just received notice from the company. May I ask if you need anything else, ma’am?”

Julie Mina shook her head and said with dissatisfaction, “If there are no discounts, why would I buy anything? I might as well go to A&P next door!”

After that, Julie Mina left the Apollo’s Chain store and headed towards the A&P store next door, only to be disappointed to find that the situation at A&P was the sa as at Apollo Chain; all the discount promotions signs had been removed, and it was clear that the promotion had ended there as well.

Just as Julie Mina was about to ask the A&P salesperson about it, she saw that soone was already arguing with an A&P staff mber.

“What’s going on? You couldn’t keep up with the Apollo Chain’s promotions, which is fine, but to end yours so tily, so quickly…do you know how long I spent getting here?”

“I’m very sorry, sir. This is all the company’s decision. We’re powerless to change it!”
