At the party hosted by Donnie, he beca the undisputed center.

Donnie didn’t need to seek out anyone; everyone attending the party would actively engage him in conversation.

These people might be political rivals or business competitors.

But at this mont, at Donnie’s party, they beca friends who could chat warmly.

This is Donnie’s influence!

No matter what conflicts you have in private, here, you must be friends.

Charles Hughes, who succeeded Ferdinand Pecora as Chief Justice of the United States, was also a focal point of the party.

At this mont, he was having an animated conversation with Donnie.

"Block, this ti it seems you might have greatly offended our President!"

Charles Hughes was born into a wealthy family and moved to New York when he was 12.

He spent two years at Madison College, which later beca Colgate University, before transferring to Brown University.

In 1881, at the age of 19, Charles Hughes graduated from university as the youngest in his class, receiving the third-highest award.

Afterwards, he taught Greek, Latin, and Algebra at Delaware Academy in Delhi, New York State, to earn money to enter law school.

In 1882, he entered Columbia University Law School and graduated in 1884 with the highest honors.

Like many Arican luminaries, Charles Hughes beca a lawyer after graduating from university.

By 1905, Charles Hughes was appointed as counsel for the New York State Assembly investigating energy prices. His exposure of corruption led to a decrease in New York City’s gas prices.

He was subsequently appointed as a mber of the New York Insurance Commission, investigating malpractices in insurance companies. His exposure of corruption led to a thorough reform of New York State insurance laws, and other states followed, raising ethical standards in the insurance industry.

In 1906, Charles Hughes defeated William R. Hearst, the newspaper magnate, in the New York State Governor election, becoming the only major Republican candidate to win.

During his tenure as Governor of New York State, Charles Hughes built a significant reputation and garnered sufficient public approval.

He later competed against Woodrow Wilson for the presidency of the United States but was ultimately defeated!

From 1921 to 1925, Charles Hughes served as Secretary of State under Harding and Coolidge.

During this period, his most notable achievent was organizing the Washington Conference in 1921.

At the conference, he broke from tradition by demanding that the United Kingdom, Japan, and other countries dismantle a certain number of warships. His proposal and frank attitude surprised the delegates.

He skillfully navigated diplomacy at the conference, forcing the United Kingdom, Japan, and other countries to sign several treaties, dismantling the UK-Japan alliance, achieving naval parity between the US and the UK, and paving the way for the US to expand its influence and ascend to the throne of world power.

Additionally, he helped to formulate the "Dawes Plan" to resolve World War I debts and compensation disputes, withdrew forces from the Dominican Republic and Nicaragua, improved relations with xico, and restored normal relations between the US and Latin Arican countries.

Charles Hughes was originally appointed as Chief Justice of the United States by Hoover.

However, due to the ergence of Ferdinand Pecora, Charles Hughes didn’t officially beco Chief Justice of the United States until last year!

Unexpectedly, just after taking office, he encountered attacks from Franklin Roosevelt.

After Franklin Roosevelt took office, he indeed launched offensives on all fronts, showing no tolerance to anyone.

On one hand, he dealt with Morgan; on the other hand, he was considering attacking the US Supre Court, which had been opposing him!

Previously, the US Supre Court had nine Justices, often referred to as the Nine Elders of the US Supre Court!

The US Supre Court was internally united, making it impossible for outsiders to penetrate, and they also often expressed dissatisfaction with Franklin Roosevelt’s New Deal.

They opposed Franklin Roosevelt’s New Deal several tis.

This was one of the reasons Franklin Roosevelt targeted the Supre Court.

After Franklin Roosevelt was reelected as President of the United States, he kept devising ways to weaken the power of the Supre Court.

Recently, Franklin Roosevelt submitted a plan to Congress!

A plan to liberalize the Supre Court!

The core of the plan was to increase the number of mbers in the current Supre Court; Franklin Roosevelt intended to use this to challenge the monopoly of the Nine Elders on the Supre Court.

Franklin Roosevelt required the Speaker of the House, Democratic leaders of both the House and Senate, and the chairpersons of the Judicial Committees of both houses to et with the White House and the Cabinet.

At the eting, these gentlen gathered in the Cabinet Room of the White House, where Franklin Roosevelt briefly explained his new bill, dismissing them with a single sentence: in the afternoon, he had a press conference to attend and planned to deliver a ssage to Congress in addition to drafting this bill.

At that ti, except for Attorney General Hor Cummings in the eting room, no one had prior knowledge of the bill, as Hor Cummings had drafted it after consulting with the President.

To all other mbers of the Cabinet, and to the Democratic leaders of both houses of Congress, it was completely unexpected.

In contemporary slang, the President was not consulting them; he was informing them.

The docunt proposed that for every federal judge aged 70 or older who had not retired after serving at least 10 years, a new judge would be appointed to inject younger blood into the federal judiciary.
