Chapter 1699: Chapter 636: Eisenhower Eats Humble Pie

Crackling!

Inside the Oval Office of the White House, there were sounds of things being smashed.

The staff outside the office were trembling with fear; they had rarely seen Franklin Roosevelt in such a rage.

After his anger subsided, Franklin Roosevelt cald down.

Now, if he wanted to continue pushing his policies, he couldn’t do without Donnie’s support.

However, to call Donnie proactively was sothing Franklin Roosevelt was unwilling to do.

As the President of the United States, nominally the most powerful person in Arica,

Franklin Roosevelt had his pride.

“Mr. President, Eisenhower is here!”

After Franklin Roosevelt ended his fit of rage, his assistant ca in.

“Have soone clean up here!”

Franklin Roosevelt said coldly, “As for Eisenhower, let him wait for a while!”

Even though he had tamped down his anger, Franklin Roosevelt still felt unsettled!

The assistant didn’t say anything since, at the mont, Eisenhower was not yet a major figure.

Moreover, Franklin Roosevelt was indifferent about eting him or not.

However, the efficiency of the White House staff was extrely high, and the ssy Oval Office was tidied up in no ti!

After waiting for a long ti, Eisenhower finally t Franklin Roosevelt!

“Colonel, what is it that makes it so necessary for you to see ?”

Franklin Roosevelt sat in his office chair with a calm deanor, showing no signs of earlier anger.

In 1915, after graduating from West Point Military Academy, Eisenhower was granted the rank of second lieutenant.

He was then assigned to the 19th Infantry Regint at Sam Fort in Houston, Texas.

When World War I broke out, Eisenhower was promoted to first lieutenant and served in the 57th Infantry Regint, but this regint was never sent to the European theater.

He was then sent to an officer training camp in Georgia as an instructor, and a few months later, to another instructional camp to train officers.

He repeatedly requested to be sent overseas for service from the Army Departnt but was never approved.

During his tenure as an instructor, Eisenhower’s talents were greatly appreciated by his superiors.

Subsequently, he was ordered to establish the first U.S. tank training camp, where he foresaw the importance of tanks.

To comnd his work in the tank corps, the highest military authorities awarded him the rank of major; the sa year, he was granted the rank of lieutenant colonel and awarded a lieutenant colonel’s dal.

Before Germany signed the armistice agreent, Eisenhower received orders from the U.S. Army Departnt to go to France to form a tank unit.

But before he could set out, Germany signed the armistice agreent, so Eisenhower naturally didn’t go.

After World War I, Eisenhower suffered from a nervous disorder and spent several years idle.

It was not until 1922 that Eisenhower was appointed as the chief of staff of Fox Connor, the commanding officer of Gaillard Camp in the Panama Canal Zone.

Fox Connor thought very highly of Eisenhower, and upon Eisenhower’s completion of his term in Panama, through Fox Connor’s recomndation, he went on to further study at the Army Command and Staff College.

After graduating, thanks again to Fox Connor’s recomndation, Eisenhower was transferred to France for long-term work, responsible for helping the governnt collect and compile U.S. combat data in Europe from World War I, and editing the “Battlefield Manual.”

Six months later, Eisenhower successfully compiled the “Battlefield Manual,” winning the appreciation of General Pan Xing, who was overseeing the work.

After finishing his work in France, this ti Eisenhower, recomnded by General Pan Xing, entered the highest institution for U.S. officer training, the Army War College located at Fort MacNair in the District of Columbia, for further studies.

After graduation, Eisenhower beca an assistant to MacArthur!

Indeed, the two adversaries began with Eisenhower actually as MacArthur’s assistant.

In fact, in the original tiline, Eisenhower held this position for 9 years!

Even when MacArthur returned to the Philippines, he took Eisenhower with him.

Eisenhower had a very good relationship with President Quezon of the Philippines.

But…

The relationship between Eisenhower and MacArthur had grown cold and distant due to various work-related conflicts and disagreents!

So now, the U.S. forces in the Philippines were divided into two camps, one supporting MacArthur and the other supporting Eisenhower.

Of course, because of MacArthur’s status in the Philippines, Eisenhower’s camp in the Philippines was not very comfortable.

This ti, Eisenhower returned to the United States actually to seek support from Arica.

“Mr. President, the situation in Asia is extrely chaotic right now. I suggest that the United States should increase its support for the Philippines, provide more economic aid, and more importantly, greater support in terms of weaponry!”

This was the reason for Eisenhower’s return to the United States this ti.

To gain more support from the U.S. troops stationed in the Philippines, he needed to demonstrate his influence in the U.S. holand.

Eisenhower hoped his suggestions would gain the support of the U.S. governnt; if so, he could gain more backing in the Philippines and truly contend with MacArthur!

However, clearly, Eisenhower’s timing was off.

At that mont, the United States was facing nurous problems dostically, and the cooperation between Franklin Roosevelt and Donnie had also developed fractures, which left Franklin Roosevelt uninterested in Philippine affairs altogether.
