In the dead of night, trucks drove into General Motors Plant Four, and soon trucks drove out again, loaded with various equipnt from inside the plant.
So gigantic equipnt couldn’t be dismantled and had to be temporarily left in the factory.
By the ti dawn broke, these convoys had finally completed their work, but actually, there was still quite a bit of equipnt left in the factory.
However, now wasn’t the ti to worry about these.
After the last truck left the factory, a burly man stood at the factory gate with a cigarette in his hand.
A dozen or so people stood behind him.
“Fuck, you punks be careful when you’re tossing things, there’s still a lot of valuable stuff in the plant. If they get burned, I won’t spare you!”
The people behind the burly man had already taken out torches and lit them as soone walked up fawningly.
“Raymond, don’t worry. Can we not handle such a small thing? But the most important thing is the fire departnt needs to co over early. If they’re late, even if we’re prepared, so equipnt is bound to get damaged!”
Raymond spat and said arrogantly, “If the fire departnt dares to ss up the boss’s business, I’ll burn down their fire departnt.”
Everyone laughed at this.
“Alright, let’s get to work!” Raymond ordered, and countless torches were thrown into the factory.
Watching the massive fire in front of him, Raymond flicked his cigarette butt into the flas.
“Let’s go!”
On Raymond’s order, everyone got into cars and left the scene.
A few minutes later, the still-sleeping Flint City was awakened by the urgent sound of fire engines’ sirens.
Those awakened didn’t think much of it; unless it was their own house on fire, nothing could make them get out of bed.
Morning, seven o’clock!
Horace Martin hadn’t gotten up yet but was awakened by a persistent knocking at the door.
Since stepping down from the deputy minister position at the Labor Departnt and determining his future path, Horace Martin had moved to Detroit.
However, he hadn’t bought a house in Flint City yet.
At that mont, he was staying in a hotel.
The knocking annoyed Horace Martin, and there was an annoyed murmur from beside him.
Horace Martin reluctantly got up from bed, causing the woman beside him to be more irritated, pulling the covers over her head.
Horace Martin threw on a robe, went to the living room, and opened the door with an angry expression.
The scene outside the door confused him, but he still looked full of displeasure.
“What does the Security Departnt want with ?”
Standing at Horace Martin’s door were people from the Flint City Security Departnt.
Considering Horace Martin’s status, the one who ca was the director of the Flint City Security Departnt, Kate Famor.
Kate Famor looked calmly at Horace Martin and said evenly.
“Mr. Martin, there’s an arson case related to you now. Please co with us to the Security Departnt. It might lead to an indictnt by the prosecutor, so you can call your lawyer now!”
Horace Martin, not fully awake yet, was now completely awake.
He had heard the sirens in the early morning but hadn’t paid them any mind.
Now, they were saying he was connected to so arson case?
“What arson case?”
Horace Martin asked directly.
Kate Famor said, “At three twenty this morning, the Flint City fire departnt received a call about a fire at General Motors Plant Four.
After they extinguished the fire, they discovered it was deliberately set.
Then we received an official report from General Motors Plant Four and initiated an investigation. We’ve already caught several suspects who confessed to the arson, admitting they set the fire on your orders!”
“Bullshit!” Horace Martin imdiately realized this was a conspiracy against him.
“With the strike going smoothly, why would I set a fire? This is a plot by General Motors! You should investigate General Motors!”
Kate Famor calmly replied, “We will get to the bottom of the incident and whether it’s a false accusation. But I personally suggest you call your lawyer imdiately, Mr. Martin!”
Horace Martin knew talking to Kate Famor would be futile at this point, so he turned to the living room and made a call to his lawyer.
Afterwards, Horace Martin dressed up and left with Kate Famor and the others.
As for the woman in his bedroom, Horace Martin could no longer spare her any thought.
Flint City, Security Departnt, interrogation room.
Horace Martin sat in a chair, saying nothing, his face gloomy yet not panicked.
He hadn’t done this, which was his trump card.
“This must be arranged by General Motors!”
Horace Martin said to his lawyer.
“Additionally, notify Moritz, Hamilton, and Sean imdiately, and have them make a fuss about this!”
The people Horace Martin ntioned are all high-ranking mbers of the Automobile Union.
“I suspect they’re detaining now to leave the union leaderless. Tell them not to panic and cause as much uproar as necessary!”
By now, Horace Martin had pieced things together.
Since he didn’t do it and had ample evidence to prove he couldn’t have been involved,
General Motors definitely intended to detain him to disrupt the strike’s deploynt.
Joel Dorsey, Horace Martin’s lawyer, nodded and said, “I understand. On your end, just deny everything, and I’ll put pressure on the Security Departnt!”
